You continually missed the point of my last post but it doesn't matter because you obviously made up your mind that you wanted to do a "why not be positive?" speech and were going to say it regardless. Even when people corrected you you just did what you always do "But i do understand very well" and then go on to demonstrate that you dont.
My point was, that while you may want a manager to develop the young players there is nothing in it for him to do so. My Rashford example WASN'T me saying he would fail at all. I was saying that if the manager next season puts his faith in Rashford next season instead of a new striker and the team struggles NO ONE will say "oh well at least he brought the youngsters through". He will lose is job and people will say "Why didn't he buy a striker?". Bringing through young players is only ever seen as a good thing if you happen to unearth a gem. People dont make allowances for it.
If a manager is sitting down in the summer with money to spend, whilst a transfer is never guaranteed, he will feel he has a better chance of success by bringing in ready made players rather than waiting for young players to become the finished article.
If we buy Lukaku or Kane for next season and they dont score it will be the players fault and they will be branded flops.
If we dont buy a striker and play Rashford instead and he doesn't score it will be the managers fault for playing him and not buying an experienced player.
Thats the difference.”
Once again, I oonly post when I feel that I have something to say, or that I think that I can make a contribution to a thread, be it in a serious discussion type way, or just joking if it calls for such a light-hearted moment, but there is usually a reason or a purpose to why I post, it is not just for the sake of it, let's just get that straight from the get go!
I do not treat people like idiots, I try to treat people with the very best intentions.
As for your point, it is up to anyone, a young player or an experienced high profile signing to show why they are in the team and to do well, so once they are on the pitch, the same rules apply regarding wanting a player to do well.
If a striker expensive or home grown doesn't score, then the player no matter who it is will have to take some of the blame, the manager doesn't get off if it is an experienced expensive signing, but gets the blame if he is a youngster, once you are on the pitch, and playing, the same rules apply no matter whom or what stage of your career you are at.
If you are in the team, it is generally because you are considered good enough to be so by the manager and coaching staff.
It is possible to develop young players whilst at the same time trying to do well in the league, it is all about balance, you don't play seven youngsters all at once, you blood one or two with the more experienced players, and do it that way.
This is what we have done for many a year previously, and has proved to be the best formula for success in that area, so I hope that it continues, as we have a few younger players that if we continue to help their development could negate the need to spend hundreds of millions of pounds on new transfers, and surely that would be a good thing all round?
