I doubt Van Gaal has even thought about how to set the team out.

Just slot in where you want and enjoy the ride.

I have no doubt he thinks at length about how the team is set out. That's whats so frightening!

Yep!

I think he sees it as a challenge, how many players can he have out of position at the same time. We had 7 at one point on Sunday, I wouldn't bet against De Gea playing wing back before the season is out.

He over thinks things, and just wants to prove that his way is the best method over and above anyone else's.

He is just unbelievably stubborn and stuck to hid methods.

There is total football, and there is way out there crazy football, it seems he has passed into the later category now.

Definitely not. We'll lose. Just depends on the score. Season will be dead then. Though some might say it's been dead for a long time.
I feel very deja-vu this season. Like the Moyes season when I expected us to lose every home - and we nearly did. But I thought that was a one-off blip season. How wrong I was!

It's ironic that back in the day with the teams left in the FA Cup, the press would be saying it's United's for the taking.
Back in the day.
Course, even Fergie never managed to win the FA cup for nearly 10 years before he retired. But he never seemed to try very hard in latter years, the teams he put out.

For the players - who don't deserve what the Van Gaal/Giggs team have done to them this season (sucked the life out of them was a good description) I'd love them to win. They deserve a bright spot in a season of Hell, but I just can't see it happening. Not the way Van Gaal tells them to play.

Well unless the divine power wants to take it to penalties.”

And Van Gaal would tell all the English players to take them - as they did last time, so of course all but 2 (I think it was) missed.

Who is stupid enough to let English players take penalties?!

I've tried that on FIFA/FM in the past. With there being centre, left and right positions you could end up with six forwards, not even including wingers.

Don't tell him that or you'll have both fullbacks and wingbacks.

Laying into a youth player who scored in wins against City and Arsenal and in a must win European game and thus keeping the wolf from Van Gaal's door once again.

Giving youth a chance my arse.

Where's that right back who looked decent a few months back? Varela I think his name was. Probably joined all those other hopefuls who trod on Van Gaal's corns.

Saw in the paper this morning that this game will 'define Van Gaals season' Will it, my arse! That's been said about 4 times this season. 'The next 3 games will define Van Gaal's season' 'These next two games will definite Van Gaal's season' etc etc.
He's fireproof. He survived 2 points out of 15 in December/Janary when they'd been top in November, so he can obviously survive anything.

And for those people who only want Van Gaal to stay for another year so Giggs can replace him (frying pan to fire jumps to mind) - why the hell bother waiting another year? What will Giggs learn from Van Gaal in another disasterous season? If they're gonna give him the job because they think he'll be so good at it, this man who has never managed a competitive game in his life, why don't they just sack Van Gaal now and put their Prince in place?
That's even more terrifying a thought than Van Gaal for another year. The time to give the job to a complete novice is not when United is a crumbling giant.

Martin Samuel wrote the dreaded words in his paper. United fans, he said, might still sing about winning the title 20 times, but if things don't improve they'll be like Liverpool (the dreaded words) and only have past glories to sing about. He's right.

He was also right when he said against Spurs (and probably against most teams this season) they just didn't play like Manchester United. He made the very good point that even under Fergie when they went out the Champions league early or were playing with the title beyond them, they still played like Manchester United.

If we were to go out tonight, I would far rather it was a scoreline like 4-3, or something like that, rather than 1-0 or 2-0.

But knowing LvG, he will set the team up with the express intention to first of all not get beat, and then see ifwe can get our one shot on target which will hopefully be a goal.

We have just gone so far backwards, it is beyond parody, it really is.

I hope the decision to fire his arse out of the door has been made regardless of what happens in the FA Cup.

The team looks good except that Fellaini is starting, so get ready for lots of elbows flying around from him.

Rooney on the bench.

Score 3 goals?! They barely have 3 shots on goal these days!

Even the people who hate Fellini decided it made sense to start him against West Ham.
Having said that, Fellaini-Carrick midfield is enough to send anyone to sleep.

Trouble is, of course, it's not who plays, it's what Van Gaal tells them to do and where to do it.

Young on the bench. Maybe he'll come on to replace DDG in the second half!

Until fellaini gets his elbows and fouling under control he is a liability in any game!

Sadly that is the case.

Oh for the day when we beat Roma 7-1, we would get beat by them now by that score!

I haven't seen anyone wanting Van Gaal to get another year so that Giggs can take over.

Oh I don't know, maybe not on here but there are a lot of GIggs fans on social media.Must be getting confused with GIggs the player (ahem!) rather than any managerial credentials.

Following warm up talk is that Fellaini is playing up front

This sounds silly, but as much as I want to win the FA Cup, wouldn't that just be one of the justifications for LVG to be retained?

I'm not saying root against our own club and cheer on defeats, but I do realize the consequences of actually making a run here.
