3 pts in the bag.

We managed 2 goals in 180 minutes against the relegated squad who will finish the season likely having conceded about 75.

Move along to the next game.

So it goes. Same old, same old. 1-0 must be tattooed on LvG's special place...

Another boring, dire, turgid game by the sound of it.

Remember 3 years ago today? (well, it was the 22nd, actually!) when we were 3-0 up in 33 minutes? Blimey, those were the days. We won the title that day so it was definitely another era.

40 PL goals this season. Dire. I think it was reported that City had scored 40 goals at home, the other week.”

We should be thumping Villa, not hanging on by a solitary goal.

It's piss poor !

Someone just put this up.

2015/16 - 32 games, 53 points, 39 goals, 30 conceded, +9 - Van Gaal can work wonders for our club, needs more time.

2013/14 - 32 games, 54 points, 52 goals, 38 conceded, +14 - Moyes is a charlatan. Deservedly sacked.

MUTV pundit (Đjorđić!) just summed it up nicely: His 3 contenders for man of the match would be Rashford, Rashford and Rashford.

Is it true we resorted to holding it in the corner at the end?

Yep and that doesnt account for the money spent by LVG.

United at times looked good today but overall were very poor against a very poor villa team. United running to the corners at the end was just sad, no wonder supporters left in droves.

Exactly! This result is almost as bad as defeat in everything but the points.

Villa had three clear-cut chances in quick succession. Mad scramble at an open goal that somehow was kept out. Gestedes hit the post off the ensuing corner. Then someone else got a free header on the corner after that which DDG had to save.

At the end, Depay had the goal at his mercy and Guzan put it onto the post. The final seconds of stoppage time ended with us wasting time at the corner flag. I shit you not.

But, but he's great at giving youngsters debuts.

Our football is going backwards.

No doubt the fans weren't giving him any shit either. Must be masochists.

It was also harder to get 54 points from 32 games in 13/14 as City, Liverpool, Chelsea and arguably Arsenal of that year were better than any team in it this season. No teams were as bad as Villa at the other end either.

To be fair Rooney was excellent today after a bit of a slow start. He ran the show, he had to be in contention for MotM, apart from that little or no competition. Valencia was steady on his comeback, Memphis had a good second half, but that's it really.

Yes, similar to the way we ended the game against West Ham. We just can't kill a team off, which in years gone by we would have by half time in today's situation.

Villa were officially relegated today but it's been apparent for months they were going down, they were that bad and have been that bad for ages. Playing at OT, that's the kind of team the United of old would have battered.

But it's par for the course to scrape out a very boring 1-0 win, cos it's what Van Gaal seems to send them out to do. I'm just surprised it wasn't a last minute goal, as I said before.

Good old Paddy, says it like it is... even on MUTV, though he has been known to exaggerate... and I quote:

"Of all the poor matches I've seen here down through the years that would be the top one. Rubbish, poor, awful."

Apparently, Villa had two chances at the end and could have nicked a draw! Though that seems to have woken them up and Memphis then hit the post. Just as well we got the win then.

If Rooney was in contention for MOTM, the rest must have been really crap!

So I got the final scoreline correct, just not the half-time one correct.

Still I suppose three pointwise just that three points, but we really should be beating cannon fodder like Villa by a bigger scoreline (with respect to them).

Why? They are rubbish! You don't need to qualify every flipping opinion that you give, you know.

He essentially ran the first half, it doesn't say much for Villa, that someone comes back after 2 months out and can do that sort of thing. However, apart from a couple of poor first touches he played rather well, especially in the context of the game. Does it get him a starting place against Palace or Everton? I doubt it, we'll have Lingard and Martial back in the team for those games, but it's given him some game time.

I just didn't want to come across as being too harsh or anything like that, but they have definitely not been anywhere near good enough this season to stay up.

In days gone by, we would have scored five or more on a day like today, instead it is the usual 1-0 lucky win.

Onto Everton in the cup next, hopefully we can put in a half decent performance there, but I am not getting my hopes up.
0-0 at half-time looks a solid bet I think, after that I have no idea sadly.

Arsenal were still losing 6 goals to city and Chelsea that season and 5 to Liverpool so Arsenal definitely better this season in my view. Don't think many in the Arsenal thread would agree with me. Can't compare moyes and Lvg records until end of the season. I am convinced you guys will win the FA cup.

Any views on the DT story today about Marquinhos being signed from PSG?

Yes mufc should have been 2 up at Half time against WHU. Still given the awfulness of last Sunday's result two wins since is a reasonable reply.
