Apparently Tristan leaving has dire implications for the future of the show

I loved Tristan, but I agree, no dancer is bigger than the show! Mind you on re-reading it, he wasn't claiming that the show would suffer without him. Nice man! I'll miss him.

Fred Sirieix ( First Dates - Maitre'D)
He speaks so well and has a great sense of humour.
Can just see him glide across the floor doing the ballroom dances and he would enjoy himself in the Latin too. He's a real gentleman and would soon win over viewers who don't know him.

Michaela Strachan ( Spring Watch etc)
Would enjoy the pampering and the dresses as a big change from being in the great outdoors with the wildlife. Would get a lot of support from the public.

Nice enough person but I do remember him saying that teaching was not his thing and this showed in his choreo ( to men ). I cant remember any particularly memorable dances from his partners.
You are mistaken, teaching is very much his thing. I've seen him teaching and he is terrific, really connecting with the students. I think he had/has very little time for the whole celebrity thing and was not surprised that he is not returning. It is interesting that his wife was pregnant while he was on SCD and they stayed out of the spotlight and got on with their life together.

That's a nice anecdote, he struck me as an excellent teacher last series and I liked what he said when he and Jamelia left the competition about simply being there to teach and pass something on. Lovely news about the birth of his daughter.

If he thinks all future gigs will be any better suited to his lofty ethics then he might be in for a shock .

For Tristan, it was all about the dancing and nothing to do with all the ballyhoo that surrounds it. It was tough for him last season dealing with all the odium directed at Jamelia, and he dealt with it all so well while supporting her. If "lofty ethics" means that the dancing comes first, well he is a professional dancer after all, and I am not sure why you had to make such a snide comment.

Interestingly there is another dancer from Ireland, Dermot Clemenger (he won the British Latin championship back in the '90s). who lives in Sweden and has been the Len Goodman figure on the Swedish version of the show for quite some time. He has now stepped down because he doesn't like the direction the show is taking and has said he wants to stay true to himself.

It's not a snide comment, it's a fact . Every dance show or stage show or judge position or dance competition (even in a local church hall) is flawed by manipulation of some kind . From who gets the best music, the prime slot , the best props, best seat on the panel, best costume, best lighting . It's a fact of life . If Tristan thinks he can avoid it then he is in for a rude awakening, that's all I'm saying , but good luck to him and his wee family .
