I saw the news just now.

Personally I think they should have called it a day after the Black Ice tour. I didn't get tickets for this tour and, to be honest, I'm glad I didn't now.

I thought they were off the radar I haven't heard anything of them for quite some time. Learn something new everyday

Could be the very last chance for the great Noddy Holder to do what he was invited to do all those years ago, and front AC/DC. If only for a couple of dates.

I think he would be too embarrassed to sing their awful lyrics.

IEMs could be used to lower the overall feed to the ears though that would probably be treading on ice sadly

I have tickets for their London show (which is on my birthday of all days) but I don't doubt for a second that I'm not going to be seeing Brian up on that stage.

There are 2 ways they can go about handling this situation - they could get a "big hitter" in, who has the star power to reduce the number of people wanting refunds, someone like Steven Tyler from Aerosmith comes to mind.

Or, alternatively, they can get someone who actually sounds like they'd fit right in with AC/DC, like Joel O'Keefe from Airbourne.

Either way, it saddens me that this is how Brian is going out, he always seemed like the most down-to-earth frontman out there, he deserves a lot better than this.

I saw them last Summer and this is so sad. Apparently the hearing issue is caused by Brian's love of racing cars and forgetting to put his ear plugs in while racing.

I really hope Brian can recover and sing again. If he can't though it seems wrong to continue. Queen weren't the same when they lost Freddie and while Brian is still alive and kicking without him it wouldn't be the same.

I agree, I also saw them last summer and Brian was on spectacular form given his age, I really thought he hit every single note and it was just stunning how good he was. The fact that he's seemingly going to have to call it a day because of such a small mistake is honestly tragic given his continuous levels of talent.

As for AC/DC, I heard that Angus wants to keep going until he's in his 70s. At the moment he's 60 and unfortunately the fact of the matter is, in a lot of ways Angus IS AC/DC so if he wants to continue with the name that's just how it will be, despite only Angus and Cliff being the only Back In Black - or even Black Ice (which is insane!) - era members left.

For Those About To Rock and Razors Edge instantly spring to mind. Hell, even Rock or Bust was pretty damn good. How you can call AC/DC a parody of themselves when they literally haven't once broken from their sound or "sold out" as it were is beyond me, but then I don't expect much more from DIgital Spy

Black Ice was a good album too. These discussions always bring out a Bon elitist or two which is fine. Repeating themselves doesn't make them any more correct than anyone else though.

I agree, I would genuinely go as far as to say Rock n Roll Train was one of their finest moments. Plus the tour that supported Black Ice was the absolute tits. But yeah, I agree, everytime AC/DC gets mentioned there's always at least one guy who pipes up with "AC/DC died with Bon Scott" or "They've been shit since Back in Black".

They're the most consistent band out there, for better or for worse, they have literally never changed their sound. So how they could be suddenly utter tripe when in the 70s they were supposedly the "un-hateable" band is beyond me

Finally I agree with something you've said.

If you saw them with Bon you'll know they were playing theatre-sized venues back then and yet they now they play, and sell out, the likes of Wembley stadium.

Not a bad progression for a "parody".

They may have achieved the same success with Bon, but that will only ever be conjecture.

The big question now is of course, will they remain a stadium band? The European dates have officially not been cancelled, no refunds will be given. So either Brian can make a recovery (highly unlikely) or they're VERY confident in whoever will be filling in for him.

I'm wondering with the lack of info coming out if people have been over reacting and that Brian will be back but needs to be off the road for now to heal up. He burst his ear drum so maybe that just needs to get better. I'd have thought if they felt he wouldn't be back at all they'd have said so.

Yeah it does all seem very peculiar, I imagine at the moment Brian and the rest of the band are weighing up what they want to do. Brian's been talking about retiring from AC/DC on and off since Black Ice so even if this doesn't completely take him out for health reasons it could well be the final nail in the coffin that makes him retire out of desire rather than necessity. However, I would absolutely love for Brian to recover and play the dates with the band.

Flick of the Switch is up there for me too but then I love the raw sound of it. Tremendously underrated album.
