Rice and sardines plus ???
What could I add to a bowl of rice and tinned sardines (deboned, of course) to give it some tasty umpff ?

Capers would go beautifully with that. Just add some capers to enhance the taste. Dried tomatoes would be good too.

If you're looking to pad it out cheaply some frozen peas or frozen mixed veg
Soy Sauce would make a big difference to the taste |

Cook some chopped onion. Add some chilli and the sardines. This is also yummy on toast as a snack.
