I'd never tried frozen sausages until recently. I bought a pack of Sainsburys own brand ones, as I was fed up with buying fresh sausages and having them go out of date. They are surprisingly good. Very much like the sausages you'd get in a greasy spoon cafe.

Anyone recommend any other good frozen sausages?

Why not just freeze the sausages you normally buy before they go out of date?

Surely this has to be a wind-up?

This seems far too obvious.

That's a good thing?

As others have said, why not just buy good sausages and freeze them?

My mum has switched to frozen sausages, she gets Richmond. I prefer to get my sausages from the butchers.

Richmond, yummy. Does she realise they contain 42% meat?

I love Richmond sausages, fresh or frozen. I don't care what they contain/don't contain.

God knows what they contain if only 42% of it's meat.

I hate sausages that are >95% meat, they always seem a bit chewy.
Needs something else I reckon, and some pork belly too.

Waitrose ones are the best I find, either these

Or these are just as good normally.

There's not many sausages about at greater than 95%.

Yeah, or buy good sausages and freeze them?

I realise that it's now thoroughly un-PC, but I always used to giggle at Richmond Thick Irish Sausages.

My local butcher makes some wonderful Extra Sage Sausages - they usually have to go out the back and get them from the freezer.

Just had some of these:

Plenty of flavour, really nice. And a sensible amount of (dare I say) salt in them to bring out the flavour.

I tried these but didn't like them. Strangely I thought they were too meaty.

I didn't like those much either, although some of their other sausages are lovely.

These are actually made by Debbie & Andrew as in the link below. They sold their original company and started Heck.

If I can't get to the butcher for his Marmite or sage sausages, then I find Porky Whites have the right balance of meat to seasoning. Costco do some nice ones too.

Butchers sausages are great, it makes it worth spending that bit more to get these.

Edwards Sausages are nice, probably my favourites. I also like the sausages you get with a Wetherspoons' breakfast.

It got more bizarre than that, as shown on that Alex Polizzi "The Fixer" programme. IIRC, Debbie and Andrew (the parents of the family) seem to have largely broken with Hecks and gone back to working under licence with the Debbie and Andrew company (and developing just one of the lines of sausages there), leaving the kids (who, on the programme, weren't painted in the best light) to run Hecks.

If Richmond sausages are a bit too hardcore, there's always those frankfurters that you buy vacuum sealed into tough plastic. They last for decades.
