Sky Not Doing Deals Anymore?
Hi All
Yesterday I rand the cancellation number to ask if my subscription could be reduced as it was due to go up to £94 a month and being a pensioner I could not afford that. Simply told Sky not doing deals anymore and would I like to go ahead with the cancellation. Of course I said yes and I was than offered Line rental for £10 and half price Fibre for 12 months. This included keeping my Sky+ box and using it for freeview. I accepted the offer and now my bill will be £17:40 a month. If I take BT sport at £23 a month I am still only going to be paying £40:40. I think Sky must have another reason for doing this but I expect I may get the please stay emails and a discounted price. |

The deals usually come through after you have confirmed your cancellation, logging onto your account usually has a 50% offer within minutes of hanging up the phone.
The Sky+ box is your property, so they can't take it from you, although it can't be used for Freeview, it can be used for the freetoview (and freetoair) channels, although you can't pause, rewind or record them. |

Thanks for the replies.
I'm no good at shopping round although I do have 31 days to keep or cancel the whole lot. Regarding the Sky + box I was told I would still be able to record pause and rewind live tv. No deals been offered. Don't know what to do now. |

I have half price Fibre £10 per month.
Half price Line Rental £7.40 per month. Both on a 12 month contract. So for £17:40 I am quite happy with this. I would be happy to get BT Sports @ £19.99 but it would be just my luck to take BT then Sky come back with an offer. I only want the sports for Football but you get so much more with Sky. I was quite happy paying my £56 per month for everything then they go and mess it up. I even said to him on the phone would it not be better for me to keep paying my £56 rather than leave and Sky get nothing? Still its their loss,i get my fibre which is good. |

It's good to hear heavy discounting is going to be a thing of the past. It isn't fair that many of us are paying full price while others get massive discounts every year just by threatening to cancel.
The launch of Sky Q should give the company the ideal opportunity to position themselves as a premium brand. Premium brands do not slash their prices 50%-60% a year (Apple is a good example). |

I am currently about 9 months into a 60% off Sky TV deal. I have recently been receiving e-mails and post from Sky offering me a continued discount of 20% off for another 12 months. So, I reckon they are still doing 'deals'. This has been offered to me at no request of mine and seems ridiculous as I would lose the remaining 3 months of my current 60% off deal. I have for numerous years only paid what I believe Sky TV is worth to me, not what they want me to pay. I basically only watch Premiership football and even then not regularly as I work shift and weekends so I would never pay full price.
If it turns out that they stop 'deals' then I will cancel no problem, as I say I am currently paying what I believe is a fair price for what I watch (which is not a lot). |

20% off for a new 12 month commitment to Sky seems reasonable to me. I'd be happy to pay full price without a contract, not that I'd ever leave. But if you are willing to commit to keeping Sky for another full year I don't think 20% is grotesque discounting that offends me as a loyal full price paying subscriber.

Agree, but why send it out in the first place. I have not been on the phone to them recently. And losing the 60% off for 3 months left on current contract, which was specified in letter would virtually negate any saving of 20% off for next 12 months. Very strange !

First they are not getting rid of deals. Second, they are not a premium brand. Skyq isnt a premium service anyway no matter what they say about it. |

You got 12m half price Fibre and you got a price protected deal on your line rental for 12m. You will be paying £7.40 for your line rental for 12m as long as you keep Sky+ @ £10 per month. Your total costs will be £27.40 per month NOT £17.40. There is a 12m contract on telephone and broadband but only a monthly "rolling contract" on Sky+. The "price protection" comes with the fact that you will only pay £7.40 per month for 12m for line rental if you keep Sky+ therefore if you just took this deal then you will keep line rental (effectively) at £17.40 for 3 extra months [assuming it goes up in December again like the last 3 years]. You will still get deals to return to Sky TV which will be on top of this deal, eg. even if you go back to Original pack @ £20 and you get 12m half price it will still only be £10 which is the same cost as the Sky+ in this bundle. You need to wait until after the end of your notice period for these (combined loyalty and..) rejoining deals to (definitely) work. eg keep the same package you rejoin on for 12m otherwise the £7.40 line rental deal will end if you change your TV package. So if you have old HD mix and you wanted to keep that, with F1 channel without Sky Sports, then you would need to chance it by taking a deal before the end of your notice period but this may lose you the line rental part of the offer. Happy bargain hunting!

I think like some others best to cancel - after 4 months I have just come back for 25 Pounds for everything. No phone connected mutiroom working at extra 11.50 again no phone as its in a distant shed...

I think a man who is doing all you "penny pinching" discount hunters a massive service by refusing to threaten to cancel and take even a slight bill reduction should be honoured with an MBE or some such. He's clearly a national hero. |

Sky are definitely still doing deals. I just threatened to cancel today via live chat (they only offered 20% off, which I rejected). Sky attempted to phone me even before the live chat ended. A few minutes later I accepted 50% off for 12 months and £50 on my account. I did it last year, I've just done it now and will probably do it again next year. I won't ever pay full price again.

I just signed into My Sky (been without it since middle of Feb and I'm not missing it!) - the offer is as follows:
50% off any package (cheapest now being £10/mo - or £18.50 with movies) OR the Complete Bundle for £25/month (should be £71.50) My advice would be for people to try living without it for a few weeks, wait for the offers to come flying in, and then decide whether you really need it! |

Ordered Sky Q today - Silver package. Was expecting to pay £149 for set-up - £99 for the "Services Feature Set-Up" and £50 for the engineer visit. However, unprompted was told it would be only £50 for the engineer visit and they would drop the £99 fee as we have been with Sky for years. Sky rewarding long-term customers, well I never!

I went on line and got my BB reduced by £5 then phoned up and got £100 off sky silver with 2 minis that is because I've been with them over 10 years. Job done 😜

Sky will continue to offer deals. They have to or they'd lose subscribers. They know what is profitable to them and I'm assuming the system won't let the contact centre staff offer deals that would mean Sky making a loss.

Before we left sky 2 weeks ago. We asked about a deal on our account but apparently because we had had too many deals (and that was our first after 5 years)
we weren't getting offered anything. Left them anyway and found better options (and cut the bill per year by about 90%)
