As I have a faulty receiver I rang Sky to cancel and they did so without the mention of an offer or replacement receiver.
Just checked Sky Interactive and showing a 35% discount for 12 months. I know I am in the driving seat but can't say I am really bothered thanks to a faulty receiver. Yes I know I can get one cheap off Ebay or similar. Now thinking about BT TV for a change - obviously not as many channels but they cover all the sub channels that I watch so for me that is good. Will just wait and see what prevails because if I go to BT, I will also switch broadband and land line rental. |

Are you talking about your Sky digibox or an LNB? It's not unusual to be able to get Sky to throw in a new box as well as a percentage off but you have to talk to someone and it's still worth waiting a bit.

Digi Box is faulty. I got the impression that they could not care less but regardless as you say it is still worth waiting for a bit.
But you're more likely to get what you want the closer it gets to your cancellation date. I think someone in this thread not so long ago got a new box plus 50% off. I'd say "look at it this way: new customers are currently getting a deal plus install plus box plus free 32" TV..." and take it from there. |

They're definitely not doing them for SkyQ customers.

Are there not now a lot of choices for people, which mean Sky no longer has its monopoly? Especially when so many surveys show that when it comes to TV and film, a lot of people spend more time watching films they've already seen, and old classics, than the latest blockbusters that are first to TV on Sky? People can, and will wait, and perhaps the popularity of old 1980s and 1990s film on Netflix/Amazon and others is why Hollywood now seems to want to reboot everything from those decades.
Sky can of course get you if you like Game of Thrones. But contrary to popular belief, not everyone watches it! As for Game of Thrones Sky do seem to think everyone watches it and its now a primary reason to subscribe to Sky. |

Just went through the annual process and my story is
Sky World HD Sky Fibre Unlimited Sky Talk Originally paying around £82 and was due to go up to £126 next month. Called to say I was cancelling the tv package (6 months left on internet/phone), immediately got offered 40% off tv package (didn't include HD). Told them wasn't good enough and was going to cancel which was then processed. Checked MySky app 10 mins later and saw 50% discount, waited a couple days to see if anything better would come up but it didn't so called the number yesterday. Asked them to run through the numbers and this time without any prompting by me got 50% off including HD for 12 months, no contract and then offered 50% off Fibre for remainder of contract. Very happy, now means am paying £67 going forward. Got a call from their Derby office today and they offered 35% off and £50 credit. Told him got a better offer yesterday so hard luck! Keep at it, there are offers out there. |

Or: the great British public once paid up for an ad hoc collection of channels that they didn't necessarily watch
- I think the tide it turning. I think all of those small channels showing repeats in a quality that represents a bad VHS recording are going to suffer in the future. Are there that many people not aware of on demand services? Are there that many people who still have a broadband connection so slow they can't stream, or download for later viewing? Are there not now a lot of choices for people, which mean Sky no longer has its monopoly? Especially when so many surveys show that when it comes to TV and film, a lot of people spend more time watching films they've already seen, and old classics, than the latest blockbusters that are first to TV on Sky? Hollywood has been rebooting some real stinkers though that has been flopping badly.
I know the general public doesn't get viewing numbers from these, but the distributors will. Maybe we should all agree to watch some real crap (just leave it on overnight) to see if Hollywood suddenly announces a reboot! |

Oh I know. But they must be aware through data provided by Netflix, Amazon, iTunes, Google Play etc that many old films are being watched over and over.

.... Keep at it, there are offers out there. ......
A good source of information for this is "Sky Jobs". The Customer Segmentation Team, for example, "aim to drive down customer churn by segmenting the base and applying appropriate treatments to different customers groups" and are responsible for "closely managing our most unstable customers". A key responsibility of a "Senior Retention Propositions Manager" includes, to "...... Use segmentation to identify groups of customers that we should treat differently ......." https://jobs.sky.com/job/osterley/re...r/1748/2183329 Sky employ large numbers of staff to try to forecast, predict and manage customer behaviour; so I'm all for consumers "pushing back" and doing the best deals for themselves, be it with Sky or its competitors. |

Have some dignity man! Pay the full rate. If you had any respect, you'd bung them a few extra quid on top.

The trouble with dignity is it's not always available at the right price.

This is not so much a 'cancellation' deal but we recently upgraded to Multiscreen and got a 32" LG TV thrown in. It's pretty basic but it's OK as a bedroom set and the picture is good. And as Sky Go Extra is included too we thought that overall it was a pretty decent deal really.
At the same time we upgraded from Original to Family and got that got half price for a year (not the total cost though, just the extra Family bundle cost). |

Further update:-
On Sky Services app now showing 50% off. Cancelled Broadband and phone today so will wait and see but at the moment it might as well be 100% off if I am unable to view channels. All I really wanted was a replacement "self fit" receiver although the offers are now good. |

How odd, I don't recall that name and I've been with Sky since 1991 and had/have the complete package to this day.

It is odd that someone who has subscribed to it over the years had never heard of it |
