Just go to ao.com and you can buy the latest Humax Freesat Box for only £184. That is only about 2.5 Months subscription that I am paying. I am really tempted to quit SKY and go the Freesat route.

That is the box I got and I paid roughly the same price and got it from Amazon.

Argos was doing a promo on the 1TB box for the same price John Lewis was charging for the 500MB one, not sure if it still is.

It's worth checking the Humax site too for refurbished models, including the older one that is basically identical hardware wise, but bigger. I have one in a bedroom and like the display. Then there's the older one with Wi-Fi too, or the £40 quid box that can do recording via a USB HDD - the cheapest option of all, if not so elegant.

For some, like myself the Freesat Channel offering is not wide enough and certainly cannot be compared like for like with Sky,but if Freesat matches your channel requirements , then it is a no brainer for You ,but a non starter for me

Further to my earlier posts I got an offer in the post - £3 a month for multiroom. I took it up.

You have to remember that a few people like aurichie refuse to accept that some people can actually live in a world without Sky or if they do wish to take out a subscription will try and get the best deal for them which may include 50% or even 60% off or free movies and / or sport. It's sad when some try their hardest to make competing services sound bad by writing blatant untruths such as dodgy second hand boxes and hard drives prone to failure.

I thought I had a nice deal on Sky Movies whem my deals section in My Sky was showing an offer of £6 per month for 6 months but turns out it isn't for Sky Q subscribers.

I'll stick with no movies in that case

yes but do it around 30 days and remember that person on the online chat has no real power to offer you that great a deal.

I have always found online chat the best way to get the best deals personally.
I have just got my second year of 60% off and £100 credit on my bill.
Both times though I have had to go through with my cancellation and this year was harder than last.

I think you'll find that Richard_Cranium was talking about the initial online chat, where you won't get such a good deal, you have to go through with it, then wait for the offer on your account, then you can go back to an online chat agent, where you'll get a better deal.

tbh, i dont really need sky, i could just leave it turned off, but if i can get something way better for my £20, or even the £20 package for free, then why not😛

so do i need to wait until 31 days before my cancellation date, or can i cancel now, 6 weeks before my earliest leave date?

Having ditched Sky, I think I got a pretty good deal this week (too good in fact, as I had a load of vouchers that I can't now use) meaning I now have Now TV paid up until the end of June 2018!

Only the Entertainment channels mind, but I'm happy and now wondering if my vouchers can be added to extend it further, or if they'll expire by then?

From now on all I need to do is use my movies vouchers to get a year, and then buy day or week passes for sport as and when.

What's more, I'm currently without any satellite reception due to the bad weather and TV over broadband is working fine!

Sky was due to be turned off Midnight Saturday night , I went to work @ 11PM still working, wife text me about 7.00 am to say Sky was turned off

Came home from work , logged into https://secure.sky.com/mysky-extras/stay-with-sky had an online chat , no problems

They offered 60% off Sky TV and 35% off 1 multiroom box and £100 credit to my account

I agreed and the credit is showing on the account

I just cancelled using live chat, turn off date 5th August, 35% offer already on my sky service app, hopefully they will give me 60% off and £100 via livechat a few days after it goes off.
