Phoned up to cancel movies from my sky q silver bundle (tried online but kept saying I had to call). No attempt to get me to keep them with offers. Just said ok. They'll go off in 31 days.

Unusual as they normally give them half price or thereabouts when I've cancelled in the past. Not overly bothered but would've kept them for half price. Notice there's no sky sports offers on my page either. In fact no offers for anything. Don't know if this is a new thing with sky q - not doing any deals? Just seemed unusual. Also the option being there online to cancel but then insisting I call them.
Currently no deals on Sky Q TV as Sky consider it a premium package... I'd like Sky Q myself but ain't paying £39pm extra from deal I am on for next 5 years

Now my Sky sub has lapsed, I've lost any offers on MySky and when I check for offers it says it can't show me and I must call up...

I'm not bothered as I now have free Now TV Entertainment until June 2018, but I am surprised it has removed the offer at the top when you log in. Or maybe it's just me.

I probably shouldn't share this but what the hell I'm feeling generous today:
http://sky.com/bundleoffer

If you login there, you should see an offer if you cancelled within the last 12 months.

Sky have a crazy retention department.

Offered 25% of tv package + fibre and line rental for £34.99. A total of £87.47 per month.

Told them that the offer is good and would take it if they could get the fibre down another £10.00. they said no

Cancelled just the TV, then offered me fibre and line rental for £24.99. Told me they couldn't offer the fibre discount until i had cancelled the tv as it had just popped up on the screen

Then straight away after hanging up the phone, i get 50% of tv through the sky app.

I do love my yearly chats to sky

Yep, just checked & seen a couple of deals on installation but also 1 small discount on the monthly sub, hopefully as the original 18 month contracts start to expire next year Sky will start giving the good discounts

There was a friends and family deal last month for new customers, free Sports/Movies for 18 months on SkyQ, i would take that deal as an existing customer, if anything close to is is ever offered (don't mind paying the upfront cost for that deal either)

Those bundles must make you very angry. People should pay full price, no?

If people have left with Sky disconnected for months then clearly you need to try and win them back. It's those who cancel in order to get a discount before the service is ever disconnected that I really have a problem with.

I can take it or leave it...they offered me 35% off on sat...i said no thanks.monday they phoned again offering me 50%...again i said no thanks.yesterday they phoned again offering 50% plus £100 credit.got home from work this morning only to get a phone from sky another offer 60% off and a £100 credit or a free tv. So took the 60% with £100 credit on the full package. so £32 -£8 =£24 a month with hd thrown in. So the moral of this story is....sky you are desperate.

Last year I settled on 50% off everything, this year I was adamant I was not going to accept anything less than 60% plus the £100 credit on the account.I was going to let the cancellation stand after the 31 days of notice

If that upsets other DS FM's then sorry but its a deal agreed between Sky and me that suits both of us.

If you want to pay full price and not negotiate then don't knock others that don't want to pay full price

If it wasn't in Skys interest to offer discounts to get subscribers to either stop their cancellation and stay with Sky or offer it as a sweetner to get them back, they would NOT be offering it

I have no problem doing that, I'm 50% better off. No disrespect, but if that's the way their retentions work you'd have to be crazy not to do it.

Its no different in other industries, with 30 minutes of your time you can save loads
- Car Insurance often provide renewal quotes in excess of their new customer quotes. Ring up and they generally match.
- Ditto RAC
- Ditto BT broadband, or close to it anyway.

Its all fair game - the companies can say no if they choose, we have freedom to move around if they do. Loyalty/laziness is the road to more expensive bills.

Absolutely agree with you. Whilst I could easily afford to pay the full price subscription, I believe 50% is more representative of the true value of the service and I am happy to pay this.

Well done on getting the 60% offer you wanted. Did you get it before or after you was switched off? How long was you without service if after?

Totally agree. I negotiate hard on everything I can. Sky, mobile phone, broadband/landline, insurance (house/car) etc

My philosophy is that if you can live a lifestyle a good few quid above than your income then do it.

In any case do people really think that Sky aren't doing exactly the same thing with their suppliers? They'll be threatening to cancel every other day to get a better deal on something.

These companies aren't my friends. They want to make as much out of me as possible, I want to pay as little as possible, so we have to meet somewhere in the middle.

I managed to get 1% off on a loan application, which isn't massive by any means, but proves the 'don't ask, don't get' point.

The sad thing is that companies now factor in bartering, so set higher prices in order to be able to do discounts, or do promotions. Rather like those furniture companies that say their sofas are normally 20 grand, but you can have it today for just £399.

Businesses obviously have to make money, I get that, but everything now is a game. Don't play and you lose out, and many people don't like playing.

My parents still pay Sky the full fee, despite me telling them regularly just to phone up and give notice. They are somehow scared, as I suspect many are, that Sky will somehow go 'Oh, you want to leave? Okay then, we'll cut you off right now' and hang up, leaving them without TV.

I can say they'll definitely offer something before they ever actually get cut off, but they say 'what if they don't?'. How can you promise that they won't? I mean, what if I am wrong because Sky one day decides not to make any attempt to keep a customer?

Yep had seen that offer knocking about, I'd be only too happy to give up my 35% discount for 5 years to take something like that...

When Sky called me, that's the best they could offer, although the discount was only for 10 months.

She said to keep checking my account for other offers.

Webchat, tell them that's what you're friend/ cousin/ brother has been offered and that you will stay if you have the same and leave if you don't.

I was speaking to one of their chat advisors yesterday.

They said current offer is 50% off for 10 months (doesn't include HD or Multiscreen). I asked if it was a new 12-month contract and they said no.

Last year I had 50% off everything for 12 months, so had to decline it.

Will wait and see what happens.

If you do accept offer on TV package, go onto Sky app & cancel HD pack... It may give you an offer of 6 months half price, did that myself & few other friends have done the same...& if it does actually cancel the HD pack it's only a matter of reinstating it the day it's turned off...

It is Sky who "Blink" first and offer the deals, they could always say " Sorry based upon your yearly historic discounts , we are No longer able to offer you a discount on your services"
