Was looking to add Sky Cinema to my package, last week it was showing as £3.75 a month to add it, this week its showing that it will cost £43.55 extra a month to add it and that is half price for 3 months, don't think i will bother.
If you have Sky Sports then you can get Sky Cinema channels for £8.50 a month
and not what you quoted

The price is what it says on the website under offers, it also says my price would go up from £26.20 to £69.75.

The £26.20 is the Family pack plus sports at 60% off

Do you get Sky Sports in HD for that price, you do you have to add it onto your package?

Ok just heard back from Sky on Facebook, the reason im getting quoted that price as the Sky Cinema pack would cancel out my 60% discount, so won't bother adding it.

So went ahead today and cancelled on the phone, Best they would do is 40%.

Within 2mins went on to the sky service App and already an offer of 50% off sitting waiting.

Next plan is to hit live chat but i only want half price on sports and movies
Cancelled online, they offered me 60% off an no account credit (12 month contract). I tuned this down. Service app is now offering 35% off for 10 months.

It's 60% and £100 credit or it goes off.

Maybe they've found out about this thread and decided to scrap the 60% discount offer.
60% off and £100 credit expired on the 3rd of July they say. "Best" offer now is 50% off for 10 months (12 month contract). No thanks.

I didn't realise that 60% offer had an expiration date. Shame.

It probably doesn't, Sky CS will say anything to try and get you to sign (they might even believe it themselves).

After all, when you cancel, you are told that 20/30% off is the best you would get, yet it's not.

I have also been told the 60% offer has 'expired' and the best offer is 50% off TV pack, 35% off HD pack and £50 credit.

The guy on Sky chat tried his best to convince me otherwise I might only get a 35% offer in future.

Still waiting for a better deal.

Is that discount for 10 months with a 12 month contract? In which case I suppose the credit is just partially making up for the 2 month tie in at full price.

Also is your HD pack the £6 sports, or the £12 legacy pack?

By my maths, 50% discount for 10 months is equivalent to a 41.67% discount over a year.

So far I have been offered 50% off for 10 months. If I can also get 35% of my legacy HD plus a credit I would be more tempted.

Funnily enough, when I cancelled they offered 60% straight away (turned it down) - then 35% off is the best they can offer on win-back. I guess they're giving retentions better deals than win back at the moment.

They offered half price fibre and free Sky+ if I stay for land line and fibre. Decent deal but I don't want to sign up for it now or I lose my current £10 off line rental and £7.50 fibre for the next month. I might take them up on that offer in a month though.

50% discount is for 10 months, but not a new contract so could cancel after 10 months.

HD pack is the sports and movies one (now only sports).

If only they gave me 50% off my Multiscreens i would renew.

Sky's profits rose to £1.196bn in the year to the end of June 2016.

Just in case anyone was feeling guilty about trying to get their TV packages discounted.

from the link

The level of customer churn – people who cancel their subscription – fell to 9.8%, its lowest for 11 years.
So all those 60% discounts and £100 credit worked ?

Does anyone know if their callbacks are coming from withheld or unknown numbers now? I've missed a couple of calls recently from one and now I can't use the online chat to discuss cancellation related matters. I'm wondering if someone has clicked another button on the account somewhere.

Sky said last quarter they have been limiting the discounts. They are far less generous with them, and less customers are getting an easy ride to discounts now. I think they will be very encouraged to see churn is down in spite of this. Once they get more customers off the legacy platform and onto leased Sky Q equipment then the discounting game will be over.

A lot of subscribers have no interest in sky q with its eighteen month contract and minimum spend of £44 pounds per month. I would just cancel if the sky hd platform was closed.

Yes, it will be a poisoned chalice to move customers to Sky Q if Sky's prices stay as they are IMO.

I have a 2TB box and son pays for his multi-room (500GB box). Main box is sent to an additional 5 TVs, I know it's an RF picture and mono sound but I am on a 1/2 price deal with free broadband and there's no way I'd pay for SKY Q and 5 mini boxes.

There are only so many hours in a day.

Q is a nice idea in theory but made uneccessarily restrictive by Sky policies. Why would I want to trade down from a total of 5gb of storage which currently allows me to keep recordings from different rooms/people separate to one box and what are essentially thin clients.

As for the enormous activation (or whatever you want to call them) fees for rented equipment, they can jog right on with that one.

Except, it isn't! It's increasing and is at his highest point since 30/9/10 (Q1 10/11) when it was also at 11.2%.

Churn for the financial year ending 30/6/15 was 9.8%
Churn for the financial year ending 30/6/16 was 11.2%

Q1 15/16 9.8%
Q2 15/16 10.2%
Q3 15/16 10.7%
Q4 15/16 11.2%

It's a valid business decision for Sky, of course, if they choose to restrict discounts- however, the churn rate would suggest that restrictions of discounts is causing a higher number of customers not to continue subscribing to Sky.
