I just went ahead and cancelled. Can confirm it does seem to let you keep the legacy packages such as Sky Sports 1 only and My Sky is currently showing a 35% off for 12 month deal.
Check your Sky interactive account via the tv, it might show a higher discount.

My Sky shows 35%...via Sky Interactive it shows 50%.

If you don't know already, your sky service is kept active for 31 days...so plenty of time to sit and wait to see if a better offer comes along.

For me, My Sky shows 35% for 12 months, Sky Interactive shows the same deal for 9 months - clearly two systems behind the scenes (Neither of which I'll be accepting)

It shows 35% for 12 months. Do I just wait a few weeks and see if it changes?

I had same problem, 35% off for 12 months showing, Sky rang within a few days offering 35% off for 10 months, 30 mins on phone with them haggling & very best they would do is the 35% for 10 months & £50 credit... Since this ended recently I've been put on a 33% discount for 5 years ruling me out of Sky Q for 5 years 🙁

Ps, anyone with a discount on their TV package can then go back for a 2nd discount to run alongside TV offer on their multi screen or Sports/Movies HD add on (6 months half price for the latter is the going rate)

You're in a 5 year contract with Sky?? Sorry I did not know that anything longer than 12/18 months even existed.

Nope, it's a new 12 month contract started in January, deal continues to run though

Been with Sky for many years now, from being one of the first to have Sky installed way before Sky Digital, must be with them 25 years... Sky call the 5 year deal a loyalty discount, from 1 June when price rise kicks in my full TV package comes to £53.08 including the half price HD add on... Only downside is as much as I would like Sky Q silver installed no way am I paying an extra £39pm as my discount can't be carried across

I am in the same boat.
Thousands of others must be.
Therefore we are stuck if we do not pay the full amount to get 4k... which is the only upgrade I would be bothered about as I have 2 x 1tb HD boxed hard wired for multiroom etc.

Check the Sky Service app on your phone as well.

On Wednesday night via chat I cancelled my account after the best they could offer was a 35% discount on my Variety Pack (premium channels and upgrades like Movies/Sports/Sky Go etc were excluded) and included a new 12 month contract.

I checked My Sky and Sky Interactive on Thursday and they confirmed the 35% offer, however when I opened the Sky Service app on my phone moments later I was immediately fronted with a page offering 50% off for 12 months and a number to phone if I wanted to stay.

Oddly, the t&c's link at the bottom referred only to a 35% offer but I phoned the number anyway and the 50% offer was honoured.

As far as I understood things during the call, Sports & Movies were supposed to be excluded from that discount but my 'My Sky' has since been updated to show upcoming subscription costs on the new discounted package and it confirms the £51/month I was told I'd be paying for the next 12 months...

Sky Go Extra: £5.00
Variety with Sports & Movies: £68.00
Viewing Subscription Discounted: -£34.00
Sky+HD Pack: £12.00 (aka The Legacy HD Pack)

There is no new contract involved but I was warned that if I changed anything the discount would end.

Given that I was paying £63/month for the exact same with a Movies & Sports discount of £17.25 that's due to expire and increase in price... I'm delighted

Well spotted. I'm also seeing the 50% offer on Sky Service. Will call later today.

Thanks Doddie, for the info about the Sky Service app...as the 50% offer had changed to 35% off on Sky Interactive.

Just managed to get the package I wanted with 50% off which was Family + Sports + HD....now paying a little less than what the Family bundle was on it's own.

If it's any help Icaraa, I did it via Live Chat rather than a call...personally I like to keep a print out of the conversation.

Man after my own heart, I did same when I got offered 50%, cut and paste into email, to check it matched what I ultimately got...paranoid?..yes

Not paranoid...just sensible, always wise to keep copies of conversations when it involves money...especially if there are any problems later on in the year...and fair play to Sky for introducing Live Chat.

Thanks Doddie, I've just made use of the 50% offer you spotted.

I was in the same boat - I cancelled Sky last week & had the 50% discount available in Sky Interactive, but this then changed to 35%. I tried to take out the Service app offer via live chat but the guy told me that it wasn't available to him - he asked if it was still showing in the app. I'd already noticed the T&C's are only for 35% discount, so maybe they're aware there made a mistake and are soon going to be withdrawing this too...?

Anyway, I phoned up and managed to get them to honour the 50% offer, so I am getting the family pack + sports and movies + HD pack for £43 after the price rise in June.

It should be £40 for the complete bundle with 50% off, after the price rise.

The HD pack isn't included in the 50% offer, or so I was told...

After the June price rise:
Family pack + Sports & Movies is £74, reduced down to £37
HD pack is £6

So, £43 per month total.

Also, forgot to mention earlier, it's a 12 month deal but I didn't have to sign up to a new contract. Can cancel at any time should I choose to.

Wish I had done the live chat. The guy was quite persistent in wanting to put me onto the full Sky Sports package instead of leaving me on the legacy SS1 package that I have. Eventually he caved when I made it very clear I wouldn't sign up to that.

So I got the 50% off anyway. It feels like the right price for what I have. I told him part of the problem is that Sky have stripped out a lot of the bundles they used to have. With other providers I'm able to choose to just have a small selection of entertainment channels and Sky Sports 1 in HD. But that would still enable me to watch every channel that I'm interested in anyway!

At least you got what you wanted like me...may have got a better deal if we had actually gone through without Sky for a bit. But 50% was the figure I always had in mind or the Family Pack with Free Sports in HD, which it essentially is.

Live Chat is a blessing as it's simple with no hassle...though to be fair I have never been hassled on the phone either.

I'm glad my post was a help

I'd have used Live Chat rather than call the phone number to get my 50% discount but I just couldn't face another almost 2 hour 'live chat' similar to the one when I cancelled

One of the oddities of Sky's Live Chat is when you're trying to get a discount the last thing you want to do is offend the person on the other end so you end up in obscure conversations that you feel obliged to go along with... at least an hour of that chat was about how great Sky Go is and discussing box sets... it almost bored me to tears but If I wanted the best deal I could get I felt I had to play along

I've taken screenshots of my upcoming subscription costs in case there are any future issues, but I doubt i'll need them

Really...both my cancellation/and getting 50% discount lasted a maximum of 30 minutes, and a lot of that was me just reading the t&c, billing properly, typing and waiting for replies rather than actual chat.

Thankfully I haven't.

My cancellation started at 17:43 and finished at 18:09 and my 50% discount started at 07:19 and finished at 07:48...most of that time was me just double checking everything that was been said, as I got the offer I wanted at 07:33.

You can use it from now....win back team live chat starts from 7am...if you want the offer I would do it asap, as it will quite possibly drop back to 35% quickly...though if you wait for you Sky service to go off you might get better than 50%...depends what you are happy with.
