I have just given my notice to sky, I have only been with them 12 months. They offered me 20% off but I turned that down my service is not going off until the 13th September. Are they likely to come up with anything better as I have only been with them for 12 months.

I left 16 months ago and i still get offers, got one last wk, 50% off any pack for 12 months contract. turned it down.

Had a letter today.

"Your Sky TV subscription is coming to end. But a as a valued Sky Broadband Customer..."

They were going to let me keep the Sky+ features, and give me 12 months free broadband.

I was a little suprised at that.

Guessing that broadband offer won't stand seeing as I did eventually renew my subscription.

I was offered free broadband with the original 25% offer, so whatever deal I go for I expect free broadband to be part of it.

Thats interesting to hear. I am thinking of cancelling soon but would like to use the two boxes I have as freest boxes and retain the recording function. Maybe I may be lucky. Not sure if they would let me use two boxes for free though.

I use one HD box for £10 a month, but you might get lucky and they might give you one free box for a few months. i think getting two boxes for the sky+functions for free is a bit optimistic.

Now that I have Sky again on offer, I quite fancy upgrading to 2 TB as I never have any space, do you think Sky Q might have made these a bit cheaper as people sell their old boxes?

In May 2015 I had variety, sports plus phone and BB.

I phoned to cancel Sports over summer and they cancelled it.

Phoned in August to add sports but was too expensive but negotiated a deal of £36 for variety, bb and phone

Checked bill after 2 months and they had been charging £60+ each month. Phoned to complain and they said i had been getting free bb because i had sky sports and now being charged. Muppet i originally spoke to didnt mention that!

So after 1 year of no sports I cancelled last week, they offered me to see if there was anything they could do but I point blank refused.

After cancelling my TV subscription, although I did keep the broadband and phone service, I get a call from Sky last night trying to win me back. Told them to call me back in a few days, I just don't really see the point when you have Freeview, Netflix, Amazon Prime & Now TV...

Or tell them you might consider TV offer if they can also give you good discount on broadband & line rental. It worked for me!

I am more or less paying them what I would for only broadband and phone service with Family package including HD box sets thrown in

I feel like you not much point for paying TV with all those online services + Freeview HD thats more than enough for my TV needs but I still need broadband hence the line rental so ask them to give me one price for all tv, broadband and phone and if thats good enough I stay or threaten to go to BT telling them at least I would get BT Sport free and that works wonder

After all the last thing they want is for customers to ditch them to go to their rivals. By giving discounts not only they keep the income coming in but also prevent their customers from going to their rivals.

Win win for both Sky and customer who ends up with more generous offer.

As I said earlier I phoned to cancel TV and BB/Phone last week.

They let me cancel TV (told them I was not entertaining any deals) but they said I should just let new phone/bb provider deal with switchover (once done).

So shopping around I see that unlimited bb deals are expensive so I call Sky to ask what my normal monthly usage is. Advisor says "oh, its horrific!". Turn out I average 600GB per month lol

So they offer me free BB if I sign up to phone line for 12 months. And I accepted.

Now hope they call me with good tv deal lol

You should have waited to get a deal on all 3. Would have put you in a much stronger position to get a better offer.

What is going on, I've 50% off until October, however, they've written to me offering 30% off for 12 months. Guess they realise some will bite for the guaranteed saving.

Same day, got the email about the cheaper line rental deal!

That occured to me afterwards but I wasnt expecting an offer and it seemed like a standard offer so hoped i push my luck with TV deal, if not theres the 50% current offer

What do you have your contact preferences set to in My Sky? You need to allow them to contact you with marketing offers etc or you won't get any deals!

I suspect I have the same letter- before the expiry of an existing deal- 30% off for 12 months, on a 12 month minimum term.

In the "smallprint" it indicates that if you accept the offer then it replaces an existing tv offer immediately.

In my case, due to the expiry date of the offer, I would be replacing about 1 month of an existing 60% discount with 30%. So, I've calculated that the discount would be equivalent to about 27.5% after I'd generously waived the last month of my 60% discount and agreed to take a 30% one instead!

Called Sky yesterday and renewed month early and was able to keep my 60% discount. They then messed something up and when I called them the lady said the person who did the discount shouldn't have applied this high a percentage but will honour the deal i was offered (not sure how true this was).

Here's a top for you.....

Take that offer. The way they apply it is to charge you £10 per month for Sky+ (no new contract on Sky+). They make it "free" by knocking £10 off line rental for a year.

Once you've taken this offer, you can still take a TV pack at 50% off meaning you've saved £10 per month on the line rental so can instantly change to 50% off original bundle meaning that's free for a year.
