Phoned > "Cancelled" > 50% discount > sorted
You should wait a little longer and you will get 60%.

Anyone know when 60% is offered?

Is it in the last week of the 1 month cancellation period?

Some people on here were offered it just before their cancellation date and some people within a month after their service ended.

A few months ago the CEO said they were reducing retention discounts. Clearly not..

If you read back over the last few days, several people were offered 60% last week.

They did, and it caused churn (cancellations) to increase- demonstrating the point, that a small but significant minority of customers cannot/will not pay the full price.

In tv, retaining these customers broadly equals additional profit, because so many of the costs of pay-tv (e.g. Premier League contract) remain the same whether you have 9 million subscribers "sharing" them or 11 million.

So, Sky have a choice- reduce/remove discounts and lose some profitable customers, or offer them discounts that persuade them to stay/come back.

In accounting parlance it is "marginal income". They get £25 a month from me for doing nothing which they don't get if I leave. It is entirely up to them whether or not they want it.

I could alternatively use Now for a one off game but I have a separate satellite dish which brings in a lot of HD sport from other countries including CL games not covered by Sky. I see it as a win for both of us!

Yes, their marginal cost of an extra user is very low. They're basically relying on British character of most being reluctant to actively engage in haggling / confrontation - even if it is over the phone. Or being too lazy to bother

I was just told by a Sky advisor online that the 60% offer ended the first week of July. Is this true as some people said they were still offered 60% recently?

Retentions offered me 60% after this date. Winback wouldn't go above 50% - so I suspect 50% is the top winback offer currently while within notice period at least. They can give up to £50 credit too though.

That's all I got so far. Hopefully it will increase to 60% the closer it gets to my cut off date.

E-Mail received today offering 60% off and £75 credit
Not as good as the offer from a month or so back which was 60% off and £100 credit.

I'm currently happy with Now TV though so won't be taking up the offer..

No I am two weeks away from cut off. What I meant was I am in the 31 days notice to cancel. Cancelled on August 14th and ends on September 13th.

I am still waiting for my 60% offer. Only offered 50% plus £50 so far. I still have 3 weeks until the cut off date though.

I've had two 60% off offers E-mailed to me so far, the first was well after the cut off date, probably 6 - 8 weeks after....

Hopefully I will get that offer too closer to my cut off date. They like to drag things out instead of just getting to the chase.

It just shows how expensive sky really is... £420 a year with a 70% discount! That's not even Sky Q...

Yes, 70% off gets you back to about 2002 prices for the full works. No HD back then of course. Still it shows how inflation busting rises every year have a big effect in a fairly short time.

It doesn't show you how much more choice you have now with many new channels and services. Then we have all the new content Sky has invested in, Sky Atlantic, more Hollywood blockbusters than ever before, incredible award-winning documentaries, more unmissable matches from the Premier League, F1, more cricket, more of everything. They've also invested heavily in technology with mobile offerings, mobile apps, and fluid viewing experiences that are unrivalled in the UK.

Yes Sky prices have increased, but the service is spectacularly better today than it was back in 2002.

Viewers of WBA v Middlesbro' beg to differ.
