They make things up as they go along just to get you to agree to the current offer.

Would be nice if i could tag on recommend a friend as well but you can't do that.”

How do you qualify as a new customer? Did you move to a different address?

Not moved, no. It's been 16 months since I left Sky and they've told me I qualify for the new customer deals.

It's just a pain signing up at the moment because I bought my mum a freesat card last year and registered it in my name just in case she had any problems and their system thinks it means I still currently have sky so i can't complete the purchase online for Quidco.

Can you change the name on the Freesat card?

You could sign up in your Mum's name via Quidco. As long as your Mum sets up a password with Sky customer service then they'll talk to anyone who knows said password, should any problems occur that you need to sort.

Cheers

I've actually got them to do a 'service move' which is just changing the address on the freesat card to my mum's actual address but it hasn't 'taken' yet. The guy on the phone this morning said it could take up to 24 hours to properly go through but if it still hasn't then i may well try your suggestion resonance

Does anyone know if there's any wiggle room about adding recommend a friend to a new order ?

They keep telling me you can't combine offers but it clearly has recommend a friend in the t's & c's when i get to the initial checkout stage.

would be nice to add an extra £75 quid on top of everything else

ok so i'm an existing customer

I was offered 50% off for 12 months rolling and 50 credit..

I kept trying and was offered 60% for 12 months on a contract and 50 credit..

Tried once more, and managed 60% off the box sets package, sports and cinema for 12 months and 50 credit on a rolling contract. I've taken it up. I think that's the best you'll get as an existing customer and I can justify paying for Sky at that discount.

My advice to all is keep trying

got there in the end

had to sign up and leave the "S" off the end of my surname though for it to register properly, but it worked so with any luck i'll get the £110 quidco plus the £100 prepaid mastercard, although i did find out that the refer a friend option literally does need your friend to refer you with a specific code.

It's currently £125 quid, so i'd have probably been willing to take that instead of the prepaid card for the extra !

I remember doing it in the past where you could just tell them your friend's name and they'd add them to the order as the person that referred you.

And quidco has just tracked as well

Good to know. Is this after you contacted them or they contacted you?

Hi Pal, I clicked on the come back to sky live chat when I logged in. It was the third advisor who offered the best deal. So if the first person you speak too doesn't offer you what you'd like, close and try again. Let me know how you get on. I do believe the offer of 60 percent on a rolling contract for existing is probably the best but you never know!

I just accepted a paltry 15% off and £3 off multiscreen and I'm not happy. Been with sky donkeys years. I'm in the cooling off period. Would it be worth calling and cancelling? What should I do cancel and wait for an offer?

sky rang this morning to offer again a 20%off for 5 year's.i turned this down and was then told for the last 2 year's we have been paying your bill so i am disgusted with that attitude.
after 20 odd year's of being a loyal customer this is the only offer i can give you he said.

What on earth did they mean by that?!

Hi, my current situation is that I called retentions last October and accepted their first offer (25% off for 10 months then full price for 2 months). I have box sets with movies and sports / Phone / broadband

Current deal expires on 23 October and reading this thread, I would love to get them to offer either 50% or 60% off for the full 12 months. My question is do I have to wait until 23 October before calling to cancel or will I be able to threaten to cancel anytime from 23 September?

Cheers in advance

No you can call them now and tell them you are giving them notice to quit Sky when your contract expires on 23rd October. Once you are in your 31 day cancellation period your offers will start to appear on your account on the website. First they will offer you 50% but then after 2 weeks this should increase to 60%. But if you call them or speak to them on Live Chat they should offer you additional credit of £50 or more on your account.

You have to be quite firm with them and hold your nerve and not accept the first offer they give you. Otherwise you'll only end up with 50% discount and no cash credit offers. If they don't offer you more than 50% the first time then just wait and see what they offer the closer you get to your cut off date.

They can't cut you off tomorrow if you are under contract. They still need to give you 31 days notice under a rolling contract. You need to tell them you don't want to cancel now but when your contract date expires.
