Thanks for your reply.
Does the interactive service come via the phone connection to the TV or does the TV have to be connected to the internet? Sorry to be so useless about this but after setting the Sky box up many years ago I now don't have anything to do with it. |

Gave my notice a couple of weeks ago. Got a phone call yesterday offering 30% off then 35% then 35% off + £30 credit. I said no thanks especially when the app is offering me 50% off.
I'll see what they come back with when service is actually switched off. |

Still only getting 35% (for 12 months) offered on My Sky, but then my contract doesn't run out for another two months or so.

>12 years loyalty pass
Ok I received a mail offer of 60 months of Sky Sports for a fixed price of £15pm (price lock guarantee+no contract but it will continue at the regular price after the offer ends, subject to 31 days notice).
So I'm thinking that's quite good value. (I won't get into what actual sport I may watch, or will be available over the next 5 years). What I'm concerned about is, in the small print it states "Replaces existing Sky TV offers." I'm not sure how to interpret that. I am on a legacy package. E.g. I get F1 HD currently (without sports but I do sub HD) - I don't watch it but I'm not sure if I currently benefit from other similar benefits that I may lose by accepting this deal. Advice appreciated folks (no Sky haters please). As an aside I can add movies on the same deal for an additional £5. |

If they did remove the HD element, you would lose the F1 channel (if you cancelled Sports) and Box Sets (as you need Family to get Box Sets), you would also lose any subscription HD channels unless you upgraded to Family. But as i said, i do not believe you are on a deal, just a legacy package. |

I would say that your current package (Variety + HD) is not an offer, but a standard package (just one they don't do anymore), plus you would need the HD element to get Sports in HD.

My discounts finished end of last month. Bill went from around £43 to £65. Rang up last night, and couldnt get a deal that I liked. The best they could do was £53. So ended up cancelling my TV service.
Logged into the sky service app this morning and had a 50% discount waiting for me. That will bring the bill down to £49. Will ring up and see if I can get a £5 off my line rental and broadband. The chap I spoke to yesterday did offer me free broadband. So I am hopeful I can get my bill back to the £43 I was paying last month. Although will be aiming for £41, so when the June price rise comes in..I will still be paying £43. |

My Niece took my advice and rang to cancel ( to get a deal)
The operator took her cancellation no offer was made on the phone , 4 weeks later just prior to the switch off date, she got a call ,they offered her 50% off ,free broadband , new router etc,£50 credit on her account So its still a game of brinksmanship , ring to cancel and be prepared to follow it through My current offer ends in July and I fully intend to cancel in full if no decent offer is made |

Cancelled Sky TV via chat about 2 weeks ago. Took call yesterday and was offered without any negotiating, 50% off any package and have credited my account with £50 - Result.
12 months viewing sorted for a reasonable price. Thanks Sky |

If you cancel by phone do you have to confirm in writing?

Thanks, I'm just going to cancel movies and sport.
I'm not bothered if they make an offer or not. |

I thought I'd share my experience for people as think Sky still do give deals. Took the 1/2 price offer of Sports and Movies for 6 months in Feb, but called to cancel everything when the offer finished in August as my price increase was a little more than I was willing to pay....was offered 25% off any package for 10 months if I signed up to a new contract, but declined as didn't want to be tied to a new contract, so went through with cancellation.
Offer of 50% off any package for a year immediately appeared on the Sky Service app, then was called by Sky the next day who offered it but with no fixed contract, so accepted and will end up paying around the same as previously for a year. I think offers are still there, but agree you actually have to go through with the cancellation to get them. |

Anyone happen to know the number sky will phone you with when they try to persuade you to remain (after you've cancelled your subs) only I've just purchased one of those BT phones that blocks calls that you don't allow, wouldn't want them not to be able to get through

I've been getting calls from 0800 783 0111 for the last few weeks. Picked up today and it was from Sky, the woman had a strong southern Irish accent. She said as I was a "valued customer in the past" she was able to offer me the Original bundle for free for 5 months, Variety for 3 months or Family for 2.5 months. Half price thereafter with no minimum contract. (The last time I was a customer I had the free Family bundle for 12 months offer with a new box and install, cancelling as soon as the offer was up so I'm unsure as to how I was ever a "valued" customer?). Being free I took the offer but I'll give my notice before it becomes chargeable like I've done before.
I assume these offers are dished out to make the churn rate appear lower than it actually is, similar to activating Sky+ functionality for some FreesatfromSky customers? I'll probably never use the Sky box but when it's free and if it's helping them out, it's a win-win situation. As Sky say, Believe in Better! |

Sky like any PLC care about is profit and to a lesser extent revenue, offering their service for free makes no financial sense unless it will attract you as a paying customer, that is their aim with these offers nothing to do with churn. |

Sky does need subscriber numbers for advertisers though, as well as keeping the city happy, and if someone like me (who will soon not be a customer but has two 2TB boxes and Sky cards) can stay by getting a discount, surely any money is better than none?
Let's not kid ourselves that if they give 50% off, they're making a loss. Having me on at a lower price adds doesn't mean having to generate more electricity, provide more water, cope with more waste etc. Of course they don't want to give 50% off to everyone and I suspect they give discounts to very few customers overall. |

Churn isn't the important metric, no good having low churn if you're not making any money!

Their are points every year when SKY try to reduce churn and this definitely seems like one of them. |

Just a heads up for anyone looking to leave Sky, or at the very least play this offer against Sky.. Amazon today is doing deals on Now TV boxes:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B016WGF9O2 Now TV Box (1080 version) with 4 months Sky Movies - £18.99 Now TV Box (1080 version) with 6 months Entertainment - £18.99 It's a great way to get cheap movies and entertainment even if you don't need the boxes! Do the maths and it's possibly worth buying a heap of boxes to get your TV covered for the next year or so (you can keep the vouchers for use later, even if you sell on the box itself). |

£39 according to your link.
![]() No need for the over priced multi room either as it's 2 devices at the same time.I'll wait for the Sky marketing department to come along and explain why paying full price is better. |

![]() 4 Month's Movie pack is still £18.99. Might be to do with which ones are direct from Amazon and which ones are just 'fulfilled' by Amazon. |

I too have just jumped ship to Now TV though I paid £29 for a 6 month entertainment pack. Perhaps more than some but still only £5 month which seems excellent value.
In my case I was on Sky's original bundle at £20pm. Since the latest series of Game of Thrones was about to start, I thought I would add the box sets to my account and re-watch the earlier series but Sky wanted £38 month! My choice was simple NowTv including box sets at £5 month or Sky Family at £38 month. I genuinely get all the channels I watch though SD quality. Sky have since sent me the 50% offer but I wont be taking... |
