How much would Sky Sports cost for a month on Now TV?
This weekend from the Now TV website you can get a box with 1 month of sport for £36.99. At the end of the month, you can cancel the pass (or you'll start paying £33.99 a month).

You'll obviously then get to keep the box, which can be used again perhaps next year when you do the same thing, or to use other services like iPlayer and YouTube on a spare TV in a bedroom or something.

You will get a lower picture quality and no recording ability, so there is some compromise but if you can go on to get a better discount (as you most certainly will) and possibly even cashback, this will have been a worthwhile investment.

Actually going ahead and leaving (even if only for a day or two) is always going to get you the best deal, but if you can leave it a few weeks then they'll be even more desperate!

That seems like a waste of money to pay for a Now TV box plus Sky Sports just for a month. Better to negotiate the best deal with Sky directly to stay with them.

Depends on what you're being offered now and what you might be offered after being away for a month. 30% or 60-70% with £100 cashback? Assuming you intend to go on a high package, you'll save far more than your investment - and have a box that can be used for other things.

Personally, I left Sky and have stuck with Now TV. I don't watch much sport, so on that basis everything else is fine for an on demand system. That suits me, and I know it won't suit all - but my idea was to allow time for Sky to come begging, without missing anything.

It is 31 days notice, so basically around 6th November next year should do it for you.

Although you are not always in a new 12 month contract on the 50% deal, sometimes they tell you that you are (they told me I was), but when i phoned about something else 4 months later, I asked how long I had left on my contract, and was told I wasn't in contract.

So I gave notice again to get a new deal, and once sorted, upgraded to SkyQ, as they had started moving discounts across.
It's a 30 day rolling contract I'm in.

What deal did you get with SkyQ?

You could cancel by giving 31 days notice now and wrangle a better deal.

Would rather utilise the 50% plus no contract for at least 10 months first.

You can still get 60% with no contract. Plus cashback.

Yes, as you say that's how you feel. Don't project how you feel as others would.

Well as a third party neutral, I would add that I have often found your tone to be quite patronising to people. They will have been happy enough with a 50% or 60% discount and feeling happy and don't need you're "oh you could have got £100 credit as well", just leave it out eh.

If anyone wants to gloat, maybe I should say that people should not be happy until they get the VIP 100% off deal that some people I know have got.

Perhaps originally for staff and family, I know that in years gone by Sky will issue cards to people in the media, giving everything free - and even 50% or so off things from the Sky Store.

I could have had one when I was at What Mobile magazine but the only condition was that you weren't already a customer (although I suspect some journalists who are very nice to Sky may simply find that they no longer receive a bill!).

So if anyone is paying anything, they're paying too much,

I'm glad I had a look at this thread. My Sky TV cancellation took effect a few days ago and I was ignoring the the 60% offer in My Sky. Having read the recent posts I went on Sky live chat last night and asked about the 75% off with £100 credit deal to come back. The answer was, "Yes, we have that offer". The outcome was that I now have the full box sets bundle with sports and movies. Taking the £100 credit into account and averaging out all that I will be paying over the 12 months of the deal it works out at about £12.50 a month. I'm posting not to gloat but to make other people aware that the deal is still there. I was glad to read about it and hopefully other people will benefit as well.

Well, I'm in the cancellation game now. Went on live chat last night, and found out that I wasn't tied into a min. term after rejoining in January. Currently paying £50/month for boxsets with cinema, line rental and free u/l broadband. As of January 2017, my bill would be increasing about £30 to £80/month.

Also, saw an offer yesterday for Virgin Media superfibre 50, on a black friday deal of £18/month for 12 months, with no phone line. As we don't use the house phone very often anyway, I was tempted by this.

So went on live chat to Sky and told them I was considering my options, but told them about the VM fibre offer.

First i was offered 20% off the TV bundle for 10 months, contacted for 12, with line rental and paying for the unlimited broadband. I declined this, as my bill would be higher than I'm currently paying!

Then he came back with 'the best he could offer'... 40% off the TV bundle, and discounted line rental of £14.99, with free broadand - again, for 10 months, contacted for 12. I again declined.

So I have started my 31 day cancellation period, but have placed the order with VIM for their superfibre50, as Sky weren't offering anything on an upgrade to their fibre, and I don't use/need a home phone line anyway.

So, just gonna keep an eye on my account for TV offers. I would be happy enough with a 60% offer for 12 months, and an account credit would be a bonus. But may yet let it go off, and see if a 75% offer is forthcoming.

But either way, I am letting the BB/Phone go off, and the TV can be switched back on within an hour if I let it cancel but then want to go back.

Just to add... I got my 60% off but does it not include HD or multi-screen as it's saying I'm still paying full price for those?

Depends on the deal you agreed with them, but as standard it does not usually include Multiscreen, and often doesn't include the Spots HD addon (or the full legacy HD addon if you still had that).

They should have told you what you would be paying each month, does that add up?

What TV package are you on? If you are on the Boxsets package then that is a good deal.

The full package is £80 a month.

The 60% offer doesn't always include the Sports HD addon, which is £6.

So 60% off £74 is £29.60, plus £6 = £35.60 (60% of £80 would be £32).

So £35 with a new box and installation sounds pretty good to me.

My contract ends 21st Dec, got a great deal from Virgin for everything they can offer for 79 quid. My Sky deal that has the lost will be at 130 ( deal was for 85). I thought I'd do decent thing call the offers team got it down to £121 almost, insulted by that. Told to call the cancellation team tomorrow. Do they not do deals anymore. Unsure what to do now, Virgin does not work well in my area but I hope they can get me a good deal. I'm not great at getting new deals lol.

Did you give them 31 days notice? If you do that then you will get better offers. Speak to the win back team not cancellations as they are pretty clueless.

Interesting I called back just to see if I get anyone else, they offered me deals on my tv so contract would be 108 the deal on call before was on internet. I don't know if they can offer both and just hard ball.

Cool how do I get through to that team? stupid question I know but they have this automatic service and option don't say win back team.

You need to call and cancel first by giving 31 days notice if you are in contract. Then when you speak to someone in cancellations ask them to put you through to someone in the win back team. You will probably get offers though on your account once you give them your cancellation notice.

I believe it is now called Box Sets, at £36.
