Often wondered why Sky haven't split off a Premium channel specifically for top flight football - charge a reasonable fee for Sport without footy ,then they can milk the die hard Premiership fans to their hearts content!

Because I don't think all fans would pay any amount*. Hence it makes more sense to spread the cost over other packages, so more people are paying - and I guess it also reduces the differential.

* I personally know people who haven't dropped Sky entirely, but have dropped sport. Likewise movies. The reason was nothing more than cost, as people try and save money and things like this are very easy and quick money savers.

You have to be kidding, Subscribers would not pay for it.
And what makes you think subscribers will pay any amount, for premiership football?
They wont!

How many normal people are going to be able to set that up and make that work? Most won't even know it exists. And given all the snoopers charter stuff I wouldn't want to be illegally stealing content now more than ever, not that I've ever been interested in the dodgy streams people use.
Well considering my dad can work a Kodi box and he hasn't used a computer since about Windows 98, it's a lot easier than you're making out.

I know you're in Sky's pocket, but come on. The snoopers' charter is such rubbish - everyone I know has a VPN and even if they don't, nobody's going to go to the trouble of getting a warrant to see if someone's streamed Man U vs Leeds.

I have a Kodi box and love it. No way am I paying Sky's extortionate rates when it doesn't include 3pm kick-offs and I have to be subjected to awful commentators and stupid betting adverts. I get streams in HD which I can pause, rewind, fast-forward and the streams are available in about 20 different languages and some with no commentary at all!

All for the price of a £30 Kodi box and 5 minutes spent setting it up.

How much does it cost in Gemany? If it does not add extra cost to what we are all ready paying, Then fine lets get something going.
Its all about NOT putting up prices.

Given you can install Kodi on a Fire stick (which is often sold below the £35 retail price), and there are loads of guides online to say how to use it to watch all sorts of things, I am sure the problem is a lot more widespread than many would like to admit.

I think by admitting there's a huge problem would just encourage others to try. When it's talked about in the media, it is usually of a suspect box no doubt full of malware and viruses being sold by dodgy people on the Internet, rather than something made by Amazon.

I'm not that bothered about sport. I can watch highlights later, pay for a day pass on Now TV or watch in a pub, but for some years I paid the extra for sport as it wasn't that much of an increase (and the bill was around £50 a month). When it started to creep up over the years, to the point where I was going to pay £70-80, enough was enough.

Sure, I can get the 60% deal anytime I want, and having just got a UHD TV, I may one day consider Sky Q for the 4K content, but my life didn't end and Now TV (in conjunction with Freesat, Amazon and Netflix) has more than satisfied my TV watching needs.

And my new TV does such a good job of upscaling that I can honestly say, even on a 55-inch TV, 720p streamed content on Now TV is surprisingly good. I know a lot of people won't believe me, but I'm telling the truth! Heck, it can even tidy up SD broadcasts quite well.

Its interesting but the week after I posted this comment, I did an online survey re TV services (obviously driven by Sky) - and one of the many Qs revolved around how much I thought the various packages of sports/football were worth - I kept answering nothing for football as I'm not bothered in the slightest - but the options included £20/£30 pm for Premiership matches and other sums for the Championship and also F1 !! So leads me to believe that Sky ARE investigating the possibilities!!

Received a letter from Sky informing me that my current 50% off any TV pack for 12 months with no contract deal, has been extended to five years. It pays to make that call.

I am currently on a 35% discount and have received a letter confirming that the discount will last for five years. Regardless, I intend to cancel Sky at the end of the current contract in May 2017. Take note Popeye13

Interesting that Sky are keen to lock people in (not contractually, but by making not wish to leave for fear of losing the discount).

Seems they really want to make sure they keep the subscriber numbers up, and I can see why when it comes to ad revenue and sponsorship.

I think if Sky offered me 50% off for 5 years, I'd contemplate going back as and when they get more Ultra-HD content - although once I finally, hopefully, get faster home broadband I think I'll be happy to stream all my 4K content.

If anyone wants a quick 15% off, just follow the Cancel My Sky link on the My Sky site.

There's an option at the bottom of the page that says "Before you cancel Sky TV, we might be able to help"

Clicking that link offered 15% off my current bundle.

Not a great discount but for those that can't be bothered with the more long winded methods its something.

Called me up yesterday offering 75% off and £100 credit....it effectively makes my subscription free for about 10 months. The offers are there, you just have to be prepared to cancel and actually see it through. I don't need Sky, I made that clear when I left and also yesterday, hence the offer which is good for 12 months.

How long were you out of contract? I am planning to do a 'live chat' next week when I am out of contract. 'Live chat' yesterday gave me encouragement that I would get this, but only when out of 31 day notice period.

Its that cancellation time of year again for me.... It used to feel a bit "wrong" playing this game. Now I don't bat an eye lid.

I'll either get the deal, or it'll go off.. Not the end of the world for a bit.

Well, that was as per last year really.

Phoned to cancel:
Offered 30% for 10 months - rejected
Offered 50% for 10 months - rejected and cancelled

Log on to My Sky - "come back" 50% for 12 months. Click link changes to "60% for 12 months" (excludes sky sports HD pack though). Good enough for me (still no idea if 50% or 60% mind)! Not on account/had email to confirm yet - but says it could take 3 days.

Think its a new 12 month contract this time but that's fair enough IMO.
