He was awful when he came back, no part of Denver's championship can be attributed to Manning.
His playoff line was a painful 51/92 (a 55% completion percentage) for just 539 yards with 2 TDs and (insanely flukily) 1 INT. That's a QB rating across the three games of 75.4. That would have put him 32nd out of qualifying QBs in the regular season (although it was I suppose marginally better than the 67.9 rating he threw up in the regular season which itself was 35th and last among qualifying QBs). The proof of how bad he was in the playoffs is there for all to see as no team will touch him with a barge pole this season and he has had no choice but to call time on his career. |

Yes he was awful, I didn't really say he wasn't. The Broncos played much better with him as QB though, perhaps it was confidence, but it was plain to see.

It makes no sense to me to claim that Denver's D-Line went into collective beastmode because there was a different QB running the offence. ESPN talking heads might try and pretend Peyton has magical powers but it's just not real.

RG3 has signed a 2 year deal with the Browns
Wonder if they'll be able to rejuvenate him Need to make sure he's fully fit though http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap300...rivate-workout |

Rams gambling a lot on Goff or Wentz being good enough to justify all the picks they've given up. I hardly follow the college game so have no idea whether it's a reasonable gamble but it's a bit of a surprise as everything I've heard about those two is that they aren't considered can't miss prospects. This isn't like trading up to get Andrew Luck.

on his numbers alone he could be exceptional but the question is how skewed are those numbers because of the level of competition he has achieved them against |

Tom Brady's 4 game suspension over deflategate is back as the federal appeals court have sided with Roger Goodell, overturning the lower courts earlier ruling. They basically said the courts can't overturn sports suspensions.
The 4 games are Cardinals away, then the Dolphins, Texans and Bills at home which probably isn't as problematic for them as it could have been. |

It's mind boggling that this whole thing began because NFL suits had no idea that basic science dictates that footballs will lose pressure over time when exposed to colder air. They were desperate to 'catch' the Pats doing something and thought they had a smoking gun with lower air pressure readings. Then they've just wilfully ignored the science ever since either because they didn't want to admit such a basic lack of knowledge or they were just so set on getting back at the Pats. No idea if it's remotely possible but once all avenues to get rid of the penalties are extinguished I'd love Brady to sue some of these guys for defamation of character. |

The NFL players association signed the current collective bargaining agreement which basically said "The King can do whatever he wants" to paraphrase Game of Thrones. Them complaining about this after the fact seems like shutting the gate after the horse has bolted at best.
The Patriots knew it was coming, as he apparently signed a new contract with a huge signing bonus and "only" $1 million guaranteed wages for 2016, meaning the suspension costs him as little as possible in lost wages. |

It's such a joke. I feel like in 30 years there's going to documentaries about this whole mess and then the general public might finally recognise how much Brady and the Pats got hosed by all this. For now though everyone else is quite happy to chuckle about anything that hurts the Patriots.

I don't understand anyone defending it, the balls have to be a certain pressure, and they weren't, same happens in other sports, if you get caught breaking the rules, you must face the consequence, which is of little help to the other team they have cheated...

Wonder if the Patriots will sign an experienced QB for cover for those 4 games or will they rely on maybe a youngster from the draft as back up to Jimmy G ?

We can cite chapter and verse because we've been paying attention to this for over a year now. But none of it matters to fans of other teams because they made up their minds as soon as they heard the words Patriots and cheating in the same sentence (helped by the NFL leaking out false information about how much the balls were deflated). |

I'm sorry, I have read the rull word for word, and you are right, it only states they must be at pressure when they are tested before kickoff, wording it that way allows for use of lower pressure during the game
Not against the rules, but still cheating.... |
