I can't see why this would not be the case. someone on this forum noted that the BTU firmware was already handing over from WiFi calling to 4g so perhaps in the next update?

The simple answer is you don't know until you spot the map has updated with new coverage.

The more complex answer is you can keep an eye on the "Last-Modified" http header for the image blocks from the EE geowebcache service to see whether the date has changed.

I believe the last map update was the 12 September.

Went up to Swindon / Coventy etc. over the weekend. EE 4G very impressive all over. Made things easy navigation wise.

I'm guessing there will be new SIM Only deals too to reflect the new P/M contracts. Does anybody know when they will launch? (jonmorris?)

Sorry, don't know yet. It stands to reason it will happen sooner or later though, as the idea of multiple tiers means offering good headline prices, while knowing people will be upsold (either by shop staff, or on their own) to more expensive plans.

I do so wish BT Sport wasn't part of it though. I have no wish for access to it, just so I can have full speed 4G data and roaming.

I'll therefore be hanging on to my 16GB plan for as long as I can, hoping EE doesn't do a Three and tell me the plan is ending with 30 days notice to go onto a Max plan or leave.

Yea I would love the "Max" deal without the BT Sport. I've already got it so it's no use to me!

Found another planning app for a site which has the panels to carry L08/L18 for EE and Three but only has L08/L18 for EE in the schematic and doesn't have a cabinet for Three's 4G. https://newplanningaccess.eastriding...=OCVEHNBJ0SL00

Nice find. 90% off applications I see with 800mhz it's Three 800mhz only so this is good to see.

There's another here, also with schematic. https://newplanningaccess.eastriding...=O3BJ6YBJJXU00
It's not exactly like a Pogona or Komodo would make a massive difference to the area.

Don't believe what you see on the EE coverage map. It says I should have good 2G and 4G signal at my home where there is no signal at all. I reported it to EE and they removed it for a very small part of the area where I know there is no signal. Then the next time they updated the map they showed it had good signal again.

I wonder if that was a fault with the coverage map, or a fault with a local mast?

Also strange that they would indicate 2G and 4G, but no 3G, unless it was one of these weird masts with no 3G, like the one at the A11 in Thetford?

ok so if EE works like this: 4G2600, 4G1800, 4G800, 3G2100, 2G(jonmorris mentioned) how would 4G800 work as if on low power it would not make any difference with emproved coverage as it can not overtake the 2G. If EE do it like Three then yes it will make a huge difference as 4G800 on full power will only work with phones capable with VoLTE

Once EE have it all working as it should, 800 power will go up and supported devices should never see 2G/3G again.

Yes agree but this will not happen soon. For now it would be better if 4G800 is on full power as last option so people only with VoLTE capable phones will access it

It is a fault with the coverage map as there had never been any signal within several miles.

Judging by the ever increasing number of live/planned 800 sites, it may come sooner than you think.

I would rather it was ahead of 3G. It won't make any difference to anyone with a non VoLTE phone and is far better for those who have one. A weak 4G signal seems far more usable than a weak 3G one. it just hangs on better and 800 will be even better than 1800 at this.

Oh ok! In which case, there's a problem with EE's system...

On a related note, two Orange masts (at least) have been upgraded and integrated - the Orange mast at the Wellingborough/irchester bridge on the A45, and one just south/west of Leicester on the train line. The EE network gets even better when these Orange masts are added in

Furthermore, my S4 seems to be totally dropping the wi-fi connection now, when I am located at my computer upstairs - now going to 3G. It never used to do this. Any ideas? Time to replace it with a LG G4?

EE says I have perfect coverage outside my house. I don't. EE's map is too optimistic. At the end of the day though it's still by far the best network as of today.

Just downloaded the 3.5.3 updated to my OnePlus 3. Utterly shocked - but VoLTE is working. VoLTE Icon appeared on the top of the screen and phone does not switch back to 3G when making calls

It may be interference from neighbours in the street with new routers. LG G4 may not be any better, may be worse.

I have an LG G5 and and iPhone 6, and the LG G5 is not bad but its not perfect either (and neither is the iPhone or I'd not have bought the LG !).

I thought it had been?
No WiFi calling on the OP3 from what I can tell. To be honest I was always more interested in VoLTE and wasn't holding out much hope of getting support on the OP3.

Just tried a few tests and it 100% is, locked down to 4G still works. Also 3G is about 6Mbps here, 4G about 28Mbps and it gets the latter when running a speedtest on the phone now.

Funnily enough, if I only move my phone a couple of inches, it works fine without dropping to 3G! Though I do recall accidentally dropping the S4 from the top of my desk, onto the floor when one of the cables was pulled out (microUSB from PC to phone) and am wondering if I have damaged the wifi antenna?
I'll test it with another phone that I have access to another day, if that does it as well then it's interference, if it doesn't then it's the phone.

How is the G5? Is it worth getting over the G4, considering the price difference (£480 from Three for a G5 vs £300-£350 for a G5 off eBay vs £200 for a G4 off eBay)?

I was surprised that the OP3 appears to be getting VoLTE as well...
Yep, I'd also prefer 4G Calling (and I don't care much about wifi calling at the moment) because the 3G signal at my location is strong anyway. If I lived out in the sticks, where 3G was a lot more sparse (or not even present at all) then I'd definitely want Wifi calling. But apart from commuting on trains (where the signal is weak), I don't need wifi calling.

Some praise for EE's customer service, even if their unlocking process leaves a lot to be desired!

Already had SIM-only contract, wanted to get a Nexus. Best deal was in EE's own shop, with a PAYG sim. This was fine, and locked of course.

Fast forward to recently, I wanted to unlock the Nexus to have a play around with other networks on it (plain curiosity) and of course it's a little bit of a pain - using the online form you have to give it the number of an account that can be billed and that is "tied" to your IMEI in some way. About 10 days later I find that my SIMO is somehow NOT tied to the Nexus I've been using on it for about 6 months, so I find the original one that came with the phone and top that up with £9 and try again. About 10 days later, "sorry this SIM is not fully registered, please call us"

Argh!

I was about ready to resign myself to a lost £9, plus the higher cost of getting it unlocked by a third party, and dreading a call to someone on the other side of the world where we'd struggle to communicate due to not sharing our common language as a first one and having very different accents, and they'd be working from a script and the computer would say no and I'd fork over another £8.99 to try again. I was also expecting it to be difficult to even talk to them without calling 150 from the PAYG account (figuring the SIMO would put me through to monthly CS) losing 25p and not having enough for the unlock.

How wrong I could've been! They were reachable by landline just fine. Bit of a wait but went through to someone in Ireland who immediately knew what was up, registered my missing name and address on the SIM, made a quick call and said it was sorted. Next day the code turned up and worked fine. If I'd realised they were this easy to deal with (even on the PAYG team, which is usually the first to be outsourced to somewhere scripted overseas) I should've done the unlock through them in the first place!

My credit doesn't seem to have disappeared yet either, which I won't complain about.
