Are you feeling ok? Someone refuting a statement isn't any form of pedantry, they just aren't agreeing with you, and you are quite strange to see that post as an aggressive challenge in a bizarre manner....
You are tending to quite an overreaction there. ![]() So me sitting on my sofa using my phone isn't a normal situation? ![]() Is this one of those statements that could best be described as an ignorant thumbsuck? Or are you privy to the network infrastructure team at EE? PS 800 hands over to 1800 and WifiCalling just fine... Happy to call it quits and say I'm sorry! To try and clarify what I typed: No it's not a normal situation if you compare it to the situation that will exist after 800 has been made fully available. In a lot of cases it's closed to public access but is there. In Bolton I know of 2 800 masts in the metropolitan bit of it that are fully broadcasting and integrated but you'll never go on them, it's being kept hidden through the methods I described before. Same elsewhere in most urban places. It will handover to 1800 and 1800 will handover to it but if I remember correctly from the last time I looked at the signalling data it's setup so that it won't occur in normal usage (however this varies area by area they do seem to be experimenting in this pre-launch phase) Rurally it is being used in some very limited cases as infill but that's on a restricted power not on the full capabilities of 800 It's not an "ignorant thumbsuck" lastly (although great way of putting it) but as to your second bit I have to say only ![]() As to why you're getting it I can only say I have no idea without more detail. |

I see it quite a lot at home now but that's because I get essentially no other signal from EE. It works, kinda. It's as weak as Three's 800MHz (which is coming from a mast 10+ miles away and that's at full power) but no idea which mast it's coming from.

I suppose the proportion of 4g masts set up for 800 MHz isn't that high at the moment, and those that are are mainly in the testing phase.
I believe EE are wanting to launch it on around 3800 masts over the next few years. |

800 on EE is in a lot of different places to Three, different focuses and different approaches Look on the M61 from Bolton to Preston on Cellmapper at 800 for a rough idea of potential density.
![]() Have you noticed any 'themes' in terms of which base stations are being chosen for band 20 vs Three UK? I thought perhaps they might have launched on quite a few of the same masts initially. |

If you know of a better way of tracking changes to the EE coverage map, then please share! I'm sure many of us can handle the technical intricacies.
But regardless, the EE map is significantly out of date and is well overdue a refresh. I don't know why EE take so long to show off their latest 4G coverage expansion; why keep it secret? |

Thanks. I've had a look. I saw you'd contributed some data

Then in cities I have a feeling that EE is looking for alternative measures for deep indoor coverage rather than 800 so I'd say the shift on 800 on EE is away from urban and more to rural infill if that helps.

I know you're on quite a limited signal at your place. Does it only go onto the 800 when there's no 2G (aka it's prioritised below 2G) at the moment? If so it's still fairly public "testing". Wait until launch for the fun
On other days, it will decide HSPA+ is too weak and switch to 800MHz 4G and will stay there forever. If I make a call though, often the signal mysteriously vanishes and I'm back on HSPA+ for the remainder of the day. |

If you want to see an area with most EE masts live for 800MHz 4G, look around Godalming, Elstead, Hindhead, Milford, Wonersh etc on cellmapper.
Hull also already has a good number. |

My experience of 800 down here is every town has at least one site with 800 and often more. Also a good amount of rural sites cabled up too. managed to get my iPhone stuck on 800 in Tavistock today and got a few reasonable speed tests (10-15 meg).

Actually, I think Gigabit is up my way as well (unless I'm confusing people). |

That sounds like what I see, even though I'm on almost an exact diagonal at the other end of England..

Hi all,
I want to take advantage of the 16GB £19.99 promo EE currently have on but my current EE contract doesn't end until the 28th November. What's the options I have here? |

I'd call up and see if they'll let you upgrade early, as they're getting another 12 month commitment from you that way. They'd be silly not to.

I was down in Cornwall at the weekend. 4G coverage in the vast majority of places now however a bit of 4G 800 would help in a few indoor locations.
Speeds were fantastic as usual everywhere. 100Mbps + recorded in Boscastle from an old ex Orange 2G mast now doing 2G/4G. The only network to cover the area as well. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/2282488488 |

Orange/Legacy Style EE Masts Explained with Schematics! Diversity Types+Vertical/Diagonal Polarisation+Omni to Six sector varieties
EE has live, code 30, six sector masts about too; it's not just O2! The Vertical Polarisation, spacial diversity, masts also performed pretty much to my expectations of diagonal, polarisational diversity panels used for roughly the last decade. |

Can you confirm what type of legacy mast this is?
