Happens all the time to enable H3G to do 4G/additional bands like 800MHz. Check out the Monopoles/Streetworks video

Then it could be to add additional frequencies?

Yes. If EE and Three both have 3G/4G on 1800MHz then they will be using dual input panels. To add 2600MHz or 800MHz (or both), then you'd definitely need triple input panels, hence the mast upgrade. Would be more likely 800MHz, I guess, unless in a busy location where the extra capacity that 2600MHz would bring, is needed.

Not quite as simple as that.

My Mast has quite thin single band panels with EE G18, L18, U21 and Three U21 all combined together....

EE Orange Mast
Well, what I've just spotted is a rarity indeed!
Proof that my local Orange mast will soon be upgraded to EE: https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.31...7i13312!8i6656 The day that the Google Streetview Car was going around on the B645 (to Chelveston and Kimbolton), was the day that someone was working at the cabinets of the Orange mast! It's currently Orange 2G only but I wonder what it will get upgraded to... Anyone? Also, where do you find out the planning docs for said masts? (This one is near Chelveston, Northamptonshire.) |

http://postimg.org/image/40iwe59t5/ Chances are those panels will be replaced with dual or tri bands when Three decide to put L18 on, and/oe Three/EE put L08 on. Though I'm assuming that will happen when the backhaul is upgraded, as I remember you saying before that it is single speed 4G due to microwave backhaul. Also couldn't help but notice the legacy Vod panels. UG09? Or just G09? |

A mast near a friend of mine which on Streetview shows two identical green cabinets with Orange on, has had one of the cabinets removed and replaced by two small white/silver cabinets. It was EE G18/U21 and is now EE G18/U21/L18. (I assume Three are on the mast but can't test). It was only EE (former Tmobile) code for a long time despite the Orange Personal Communications Ltd name/address stickers on the cabinets. The right most green cabinet has gone, replaced by the two white. https://goo.gl/maps/UYC8gLwGaED2 viz from last Sat: http://imgur.com/a/9UIKf No change to the antenna section at all, its in the trees above and very 'aged' and looks almost mouldy! Town, borough, or district council website, planning section usually.

http://postimg.org/image/40iwe59t5/ The base is completely overgrown now. Still transmits Orange GPRS on 33 but transmits 3G on 30 (although it shouldn't bother as you're lucky to get 0.1m/bits out of it). Still waiting for 4G upgrade (hopefully they change the panels as they are really old). No planning application for it though so it's still going to be a while ![]() ![]()

Had an interesting chat with someone I know at EE, albeit not with great news regarding VoLTE.
Firstly, it seems Huawei can't get VoLTE working with EE's set up - although they are being pressured to find a solution for the 6P, P9 and others. As I mentioned before, Huawei IS testing VoLTE in some markets/some networks, but having issues. EE won't accept a roll out until it is working properly, so that means no VoLTE for the foreseeable future - but it isn't forgotten. Indeed, EE is pressuring all the manufacturers to add support which is why we're seeing phones getting support natively now, not needing an EE-supplied model. That's intentional. The Nexus 5X apparently is working, and of course both Pixel phones are supported. I am therefore slowly starting to realise that I may have to just get a Pixel XL if I want to finally get a phone that supports VoLTE perfectly and is Cat 9 capable. |

![]() But I won't, because I've got far too much invested in Android apps wise. I'm one of perhaps only a few people that has actually bought a lot of apps (mind you, Google Rewards has paid me over £40 to fund a lot of purchases) and I've also got content on the Play Store etc. So, I doubt I'll ever be going back to iOS unless it's a review device. I do actually have purchased apps on iOS though, but nowhere near as many. |

I've seen those panels before somewhere. One of the local EE/3 masts near to me has one of those single input panels (though it is in conjunction with triple input panels). I'm also sure that Pedro_C has some examples on his website where Vodafone/O2 have used hose single input panels as well.
Chances are those panels will be replaced with dual or tri bands when Three decide to put L18 on, and/oe Three/EE put L08 on. I need to try harder, I think I've only got around a tenner from Google Rewards
![]() On my Honor 8, I've not had a single survey in about two months. But I have had surveys on other phones too. My wife seems to let surveys expire and I keep telling her not to. She's also got a 6P. Maybe Pixel owners will get paid even more! |

The S7/e and Xperia XZ are also capable of both are they not? Or do you mean including the sim free models?
