Three already have the area well covered by 800mhz north from Nantwich and south from a mast above the village of loggerheads, EE on the otherhand only have highband 3g/4g coverage from this mast which doesn't cover the centre of the village, that is covered by an old orange 2g mast which still hasn't been touched when it could have easily been upgraded via microwave link from this mast as it in good line of sight..
All very strange..
I guess all should be revealed this week for the lucky few when it goes live.”

Tags can be wrong sometimes.
I learnt that from Pedro too! : )

It's a bit of a shame really, hopefully in the future there'll be a way of supporting every new VoLTE capable phone, instead of the current mess we have now.

I don't think EE or others will deliberately stop adding support to all older phones just to get people upgrading, as I don't think everyone would upgrade for VoLTE (most won't even know what it is, however user friendly it is marketed).

So I hope we'll be surprised in some cases. Where it can be done with minimal effort, I hope it will be. It helps EE.

I was surprised when I looked at the photos as I couldn't see when I was on site, all the red tags were turned away out of site, each antenna has 2 800mhz ports which are both connected and 2 red 1800mhz ports connected, no 2600mhz cables connected which is no surprise as this mast only really broadcasts to tractors and sheep, doesn't even cover the village well enough even from Vodafone 900mhz 2g which sits on top of the mbnl stuff,
Will have to visit again as the tags were right when tested 4g band 3 for EE only and band 20 only for three, 3g from both. Surprised they haven't opted to 800mhz a full power so they can ditch the 2g mast nearer the village, surly its not getting upgraded now after all this time when every other mast in the area has been done.

EE been down all day in Bangor, North Wales following a power cut this morning.

The power has been back on since 11ish and the shops have been open again, but still no signal on EE at all.

Includes the railway station monopole and main sites on the BT exchange and the Arqiva tower with all the networks.

Power supply might have blown or something, might have access issues getting to site to sort it. Have you spoken to CS about it?

EE carrier settings has been updated to 26.0. Does this mean things are moving?

Yeah I wondered if I'd already had that update. I'm in Ireland at the moment roaming on Meteor, so perhaps it's their update and not EE's. Sorry for the confusion.

I can vouch for this too, I've been eagerly awaiting a carrier settings change to see if it improves the 4G quality in Victoria, London which seems to have become really bad in the last few weeks.

kek... this is EE, at best it means Friday. But chances are it means early next year.

Hope so! I'm sorely tempted to eBay my 6P for one of those. I quite fancy the extra RAM and front fingerprint reader, and it looks like good ol' Huawei screwed up the comms in some way (not like they've ever done that before *looks at Vectoring mess with Huawei VDSL cabinets*) so it's questionable whether it'll ever get VoLTE.

The embargo on the media release is 11am. I won't reveal the specifics until then, but can confirm the switch-on is today and it MAY already be live, or in the process of going live right now.

I've checked the coverage map and it doesn't show anything yet, so I think I'd be inclined to give EE all day to get things done.

At least we know it's happening for sure.

"Great news! Last night we switched on 800MHz frequency, covering 5,000 square km and improving indoor signal in 500,000 homes overnight."

I love being wrong

Now to await the release of the 3T...

Maybe we hyped it too much, but 700 sites seems a little underwhelming to me.

Oh well, no need for me to worry about shelling out for an iPhone in the near future!

I knew I wasn't wrong. I just didn't know the exact time of the switch-on, or the exact number of sites.

Now for the coverage checker to be updated, as that's key to finding out where some of these sites are away from the rural areas mentioned in the release.

Another 3000 by the end of next year (going back to pessimism, I'll suggest things will be delayed and it'll be 3000 by the end of 2018 / early 2019 )

But yeah no rush
I wish there was even the ability to check it on a 6P.

The video from the CEO says 'at the start of 2017' which hints that possibly they decided to announce this early, maybe for getting 4G Calling as something to help sell phones in the Christmas run-up, and that is why there aren't as many sites as some expected/hoped.

However, the boost of 2% geographic coverage did show that it wasn't a massive increase - but still significant if it is giving 500,000 people better indoor coverage.

I still want to see if some of those sites are in towns and cities, not just the countryside. However, for anyone travelling around the UK it has to be a good thing.

Up to 150 new 4G sites per week isn't bad. I looked at a place I knew had poor 4G in the summer to see if I could see 800 there, and it looks like it has in fact been covered by 1800 at some point in the last few months anyway.

The coverage checker is consistently massively overstating 4G coverage in my experience (on a number of different handsets) so when they update it, it won't show any improvements as they already state I can get 4G in a nuclear bunker (when in fact, you're lucky to get a 4G signal outdoors where 4G+ is said to cover).

Just posted this in the other thread but thought I'd post in here too -

EE have just confirmed via twitter that the coverage checker has not been updated to reflect 800 MHZ coverage yet - but they have advised its due to show these changes from the 1st of December.

If my phone is in automatic mode the coverage checker is way out but if my phone is in 4G only mode I can get 4G indoors and the outdoor coverage pretty much matches up. I've streamed radio in these situations and hasn't dropped out.

EE 4G>3G threshold seems to act like O2/Voda 3G>2G where it's very quick to switch down. EE 3G seems to hang on to grim death before handing down to 2G.

The thing is, EE's coverage checker can't account for phones which are poor at holding onto 4g.... or older devices.

For phones like the Samsung S7 Edge which hold 4g very well, the coverage checker will appear much more accurate.

I just wish that my phone and others would work in certain areas like they did when Orange was Orange before changing to EE .
Before the change signal indoors and out was 100% --- now keeps switching to EE /T-Mobile and calls can only be made if you stand still ....and never in the same place !!
Complaint has been lodged with EE but reply is the system has been optimized .......

A few hundred sites will see disruption from yesterday till Monday as they roll out software tweaks. Likely to effect 3 too whilst EE tweak things. Then we should see the results of 800 EE coverage.

Exactly. Some of the older Samsungs and LG's have poor 4G signals. I find with my iPhone 6S plus and my works 7 the map is actually inaccurate the other way. I pick up signal nowhere near where I should and the map is only a few weeks delayed to reality, so that doesn't explain it.
