Just thought I'd share the details of a recent change in price plan as I feel I got a really good deal in case anyone is interested in a similar offer.

Last May I moved to EE on the promotional SIMO 16gb/£19.99 deal. I recently checked with EE chat as to what packages would I be able move to and I was offered the 30gb Max plan (£39.99) for £24.99. A real surprise was that my original discount of £15.00 transfers with the plan and the contract renewal isn't extended. A pretty good deal?

That's the good thing about SIM only. If EE or anyone can get a few pennies more from you, they'll likely go for it.

I am unsure about whether to change my 16GB SIM plan (now 21GB as a get a 5GB data boost having EE broadband) because I quite like paying £3 for 500MB of data a day. However, for longer trips I guess I'd rather have access to my own data and without paying. Pros and cons for each option.

Also, I don't need 30GB and even 21GB is ample for me (admittedly I'm using a Three and Vodafone SIM too so spread the load). On the last billing cycle I had 9GB left unused!

EE was doing some Black Friday-style deals that end today (or was it yesterday?) and some were quite good.. some pretty awful. I recall 20GB for £22 on a Max Plan or something, and less data for more on a lesser plan. And 500MB for £12.

All over the place, and not dissimilar to previous EE offers where it all goes mad and must cause nightmares for shop staff and customers alike (namely customers who may not have been told that they could get MORE for less money when signing a contract).

I wouldn't personally want anything but a Max plan, so I got the maximum 4G+ speeds coming in the future, but I don't want BT Sport. That's another reason why I might cling on to my 16GB legacy plan for as long as I can.

Yeah I agree. I don't want BT Sport either but I do want access to the faster speed so I'd always go for a Max plan. The deciding factor for me was the 15gb data that can be used in the EU out of the plan.

BT Sport access is a bit useless anyway, can only use it on your phone / tablet, so can't watch it in a web browser or cast it from the app to a smart tv / chromecast etc

So I swapped half way through a 12 month SIMO contract without starting new terms or extending the contract. Is this the same for you?

Just got the same deal as you. I had an existing £8 discount which ee let me keep. So im paying £17 a month for 30gb of data, 15gb i can use in the EU. Very happy with this.

Indeed. I would have been happy paying £25 for the 30gb, I was pleasantly surprised they let me keep my existing £8 discount.

3T arrived. Can confirm it does NOT work with Wifi Calling

Edit: Still trying to determine with VoLTE. It might be working yet (it doesn't work if network type is forced to LTE only in the debug menu)

I can't use VoLTE if I lock to 4G on my Pixel XL. So that doesn't necessarily mean anything.

Must be a registration thing, although I don't know the exact reason.

Yeah just added to clarify that. Will have to wait til I'm out of range of my 3G-only signal box! Or risk powering it down. I suppose we have had a few power outages since getting it.

I'm running LTE discovery on logging to see if band 20 appears anywhere. Nothing today, but I have a few places in mind I can drive to tomorrow (but hope online checker will confirm before I go anywhere if they update it tomorrow).

It's a shame EE and others no longer want to show VoLTE or even 4G+. Makes sense for Joe Public though.

I don't think 800 is on until tomorrow?

VoLTE confirmed working on 3T, just tested a call to 150.

That's out of box with the stock software, simply after having gone into SIM settings and enabling VoLTE.

Wifi Calling can be found by searching settings (the old hidden settings trick basically) but it just switches back off again.

Thanks. Wifi calling was same as OP3 too.

Out of interest, what is the Oxygen OS version and build? I ask as I had to install the community build to give me the VoLTE option.

Thank you

OS 3.5.3, build A3003_28_161122

Haven't been able to find a community build for the 3T yet (am curious whether there will be any progress towards Wifi Calling)
