Haven't been able to find a community build for the 3T yet (am curious whether there will be any progress towards Wifi Calling)”

OK thanks for that. I see that there is a Nougat Beta for the OP3 but I think I'll stick with the CB at the moment as I know VoLTE works. No sign of Band 20 this morning so I may be cancelling my EE SIM anyway

Yeah 3T's Nougat is starting beta when OP3 goes final. At least it revokes the license for OP3 users to complain about 3T supposedly getting priority

My home mast (Orange Legacy) has finally been upgraded to 4G. Still using the old style 6 panel set up, 3G is still awful on it too (0.1mbit/s throughtput) and the 2G is still GPRS and on code 33. Weird!

The old panels may well still work on 4G (especially if they did 3G too), so may not need replacing.

If 3G is still awful speeds then it might be awaiting a backhaul upgrade?
I would guess that the 2G would go to code 30 once the backhaul has been done?

Didn't see that mentioned here but EE launched some pretty interesting new roaming add-ons : http://newsroom.ee.co.uk/ee-launches...for-christmas/

3£ for 500MB in the EU, 4£ for 500MB in the US/Canada and 5£ for 500MB in Turkey, Australia, New Zealand, UAE, India, Thailand, Mexico, South Africa & China.

Also boosted the allowances for the add-ons for other countries.

Does anyone else find it odd that these are not available to 4GEE or Max customers? I know Max customers get inclusive EU roaming included, but if travelling to the US/Canada or any of the £5 countries, the only option is still to buy one of the (expensive) add-ons.

Wait what? You're kidding me, right ?

Edit : I created a thread on the EE forum asking about this.

I thought it must have been a mistake too, but on this page it states explicitly:

Quote:
“Travel Data Pass is available to customers on selected EE Pay Monthly Regular, Extra, Essential and Sharer consumer plans. Travel Data Pass is not currently available to customers on 4GEE plans and Max Plans or mobile broadband/Mobile Wi-Fi plans.”

Hopefully it changes soon. It seems strange for them not to allow their highest-paying (Max) customers access to this.

Wow this is frankly ridiculous, was about to get my PAC from Vodafone but I'm seriously reconsidering now.

I was told my Euro data pass was changing to this and I'm on a 4GEE plan, so now I'm confused.

What happens if you text "TRAVEL" to 150?

Yet the link above (post 3630) says:

Quote:
“With EE, customers will never pay for more data than they choose to buy so there’s no need to worry about nasty bill surprises. Travel Data Pass is available immediately to EE pay monthly mobile customers on 4GEE Standard, 4GEE Extra and 4GEE Essentials plans.”

They had problems when the data pass came out, and took a month or so to activate users on some plans. Must be a lengthy process they need to go through for each plan.

It's a miracle their billing service manages with an many options, discounts, discounts on discounts, temporary offers, loyalty offers, offers linked to other contracts etc.

Perhaps too clever for their own good?

Probably spot on there John, it's one of the things I like about O2. Upgrades, provisioning, billing and the app have all been perfect ....... Hope I haven't jinxed it now lol

To EE's credit, on an account with three SIMs and a total of six discount types, the computer gets it right every month (so far!).

Is it usual for Physical Cell IDs to change when new 4G masts are added? I've noticed that since my home mast has been upgraded other masts that I used to connect to regularly have had their Physical cell ids changed but CIs have remained the same.

I'd love to know what the criteria is, for how soon legacy-Orange sites get MBNL'd.

My local OUK site has locked up 3 times this week so far, and been failing every voice call attempt for hours at a time. It seems that whenever there is any software/config change somewhere, it locks up and it's a lottery as to whether anyone notices it.

Knackered old kit that badly needs swapping out.

I think we went through that last month, when there were countless problems and outages - and it was to bring some old sites into the 4GEE network. The coverage map does show pretty solid 4G even in rural areas (and not from 800) now, and it prompted many to get texts saying 4G was coming even if it was already here.

With the odd VoLTE issue, I wonder if there are still some issues. It may well be that this has caused the 800 delay.

There must be some issue with the 4G800 as last week I could make a call over 4G800 but no data with 2 bars. Some one sent me a message on twitter saying the delay will not be long but do not have exact date. Any way I am patient now and better wait and give EE some time to sort it out

Physical cell IDs have to be different on neighbouring cells so it's perfectly normal for a bit of a change when new sites are activated. Cell IDs never (or very rarely) change as there are no duplicates across the network whereas there are fewer PCIs available so they are duplicated outside of neighbouring cells.

Yes because they need to reuse and plan them they often have to change them around so there's no conflict. There are only 504 PCIs so if 3 per mast 126 to go around per mast. Planning can get quite complicated.

Probably keeping the 2G/3G on legacy backhaul for now, seen it before.

The 2G on code 33 has now disappeared (I think) as only one EE is showing up in the network selection so I'm guessing that's been changed to 30 now. 3G still rubbish though.

Same thing happened here - the 800 mast had its PCI changed from 401 to 176, but the eNB stayed the same, so I guess it's normal.

Nice speeds this afternoon, but uplink pretty poor (and RootMetrics shows other tests under 10). Very odd.
