Overall the show wasn't something I'll be going back to next year. It was busy but there wasn't really anything good there. Loads of 'Ideal Home Show' style stalls selling junk, and not the sort of gadgets most people expect (like kitchen gadgets).

The fact that the Gadget Show Live has its own Twitter and was barely mentioned on the offiical Gadget Show feed shows how it's not very well linked, and someone I know who works for the GS website didn't even go this year.
I agree entirely. It was 90% tat, very little of any interest there. I was on a free ticket though (sister's firm were there) and tbh if I had paid I would have felt ripped off! It was a bit like your local market, but with a roof on and a theatre in the corner. I won't be going back, even on a free ticket!

Same for me, also on a free ticket. Only way I'd go back next year is if there was a real incentive, such as a product launch or because loads of other people I know were going, and we left for a nearby bar!

So I'm guessing from this month we should be having a lot more sites having VoLTE switched on and the start of 800mhz+VoLTE being switched on?

Hopefully we get some PR this month too!

I just wouldn't go back! My sister, her partner and I had seen it all in about three hours and gone off to the pub! We would have been better stopping at in and watching QVC for 3 hours and then going to the pub!

Is there any word on what access non-EE Android devices will get to the 800Mhz signal?

I know that with Three the current plan is that an imminent release of the Three Intouch application might unlock this for Android devices which support band 20 but which weren't supplied by Three; what's the plan for EE?

I'm still weighing up a move over to EE, and I'm aware that Three's 800Mhz signal at full power has quite good reach (if only I were allowed onto it!), so wondering whether the same tale might play out on EE eventually.

If it helps any, I've a Sony Z3 Compact.

Has anyone picked up EE800 on an Android device yet? I know we've had a 5c on it.
I got it the other day on my iPhone 6 but that's a VoLTE device so would be on any "allowed" list.

Are EE doing antenna swaps to enable 2600mhz and 800mhz?
A mast near here (Milton Keynes) was putting out double speed 1800mhz on old antennas and these antennas were completely missing today, wires hanging down and I am now getting weak 2/3/4g in the area. Cannot see anyone up the mast.

EE support are unaware of the maintenance. Anyone aware if this is an upgrade or decommissioning?

So I take it the VoLTE rollout hasn't progressed since London? Not heard of any new reports of new areas switched on.

I made a VoLTE call along the M62 south of Bradford/Leeds and onto M621 coming into Leeds this week, there is none in central Leeds yet. It was working briefly in North Leeds, but seems to have disappeared now. VoLTE is working well in Manchester.

Darlington and Durham went live last week.

"LTE Discovery" is showing me on an unknown band across much of Nottingham city centre and Band 3 in other places. No idea if that's 800 or 2600 though.

Looks like MK is getting 800 or 2600, there is now a guy up the mast attaching a new antenna. Decommission fears over.

Nice to see that there's still progress being made, though I'd still love to know what criteria they are using for choosing which areas to enable.

Is it population, mast density, 4G coverage, distance from already enabled areas, randomly chosen out of a hat?

There's probably a logistical reason for things, mixed with drawing names out of a hat...!

Probably the number of transmitters that are 4G enabled in a given urban area, and their suburbs. No VoLTE in Aberdeen yet (presumably because some parts of the city still aren't covered very well).

Things are happening here. People still up the mast , weak 4g and I got a call. Stayed on 4g the whole time, 2 bars , very clear.
Made an outbound call after and it switched back to 2g. Weird.

Darlington is another EE office location.

Makes sense.

Looks like the rollout is still pretty slow, I'm guessing we won't see a full roll out till some time next year.

Yes but very slowly. VoLTE not required.

Not seen 800 or VoLTE here yet on my 5X. I keep checking just in case. The 800 cables are connected on the mast, but presumably it'll be a while until it's more than "just a few places".

I could have had 800 on my Lumia 1020, but field test is blocked so I have no way of telling you!
