So soes anyone in the know, know how many areas they VoLTE enabled today? Seems to be quite a few?

Also managed to get one of my highest speed tests during a VoLTE call.

No VoLTE in Nottingham city centre it seems, maybe rolling out over a couple of days?

Would have thought the city centre would be done first.

[edit]

Or just certain masts not enabled or maybe just a glitch? I enabled and disabled aeroplane mode and it seems to be working again.

I am really hoping it does something for where I live in Duston seeing 2 to 3 bars 4G but getting less than 3mbit is depressing (this is indoors and outdoors).
This is more to do with capacity/backhaul at that mast than anything else. If it's a heavily congested mast (i.e. a lot of users are on it), that'll be why.

Managed a call over an hour on VoLTE which transitioned to Wifi Calling as I got home, other than a slight audio glitch as it switched from VoLTE to Wifi, it worked pretty much flawlessly.

Hi just a quick but maybe dumb question. I have an EE pay and go SIM card with no credit on it, will it show 4G without credit or is it like Vodafone where you need credit? Reason I ask is I'm watching out for 4G1800 & 800. Currently at home I only ever see 3G which is different to what the coverage checker says! Thanks.

So I'm coming back! I've just signed up for the 16GB Sim Only offer. It'll be interesting to see what's changed in the 2.5 years I've been away.

All of you have VoLTE and I haven't been able to make a decent call all afternoon! My phone has been determined to select 3G when making a call and it's been dropping in under a minute. This happened in town and on the farm.

Also saw engineers up an old Orange mast. Was going to take some pictures but had to shoot off. Not sure whether it was being decomissioned or upgraded. There was various chaps in Orange colour boiler suits working at the back of the panels (they are the originals - site hasn't changed in as long as I can remember). I was getting a full 4G signal nearby, and 40Meg speeds.

Wow, a lot has happened in that time. Even EE's 4G coverage wasn't that big then.

Now you have Wi-Fi Calling, 4G+, VoLTE/800 around the corner.

Only downer is there's a bug that prevents you adding the Euro Data Pass on the plan (£3 a day) although it's not that great value anyway.

I think you'll see 4G even without credit. I think you may even be able to do speed tests using the RootMetrics app, although perhaps not if the hard cap restricts access only to EE's website.

Can you lock your phone to 4G only? It may be that the signal is there but too weak with a stronger 3G signal (perhaps from another site).

No, not for the short-to-medium term. Long term, maybe.

Hi thanks, unfortunately I can't lock my phone as I have the iPhone 6s Plus. I'm slap bang in the city centre of Wakefield and I get no 4G on EE indoors never thought to try it outside. I'm feeling a bit blonde now. Thanks for your help 😀

No problem. However good EE's 4G coverage is, until they have 800MHz on there will still be plenty of people only getting 3G indoors.

The nearest mast to me is still an old ex orange mast that gives about 0.2mb on 3G which doesn't help matters

Or as Devonbloke likes to say "until the power goes up on 1800".

I've had troubles with the aforementioned mast for quite a while now.

On the train to Leicester, you always get put on this Prange mast as MBNL 3G is rather weak, to put it mildly. (Orange 3G isn't much stronger, due to the terrain of the track.)

Recently (for the last month or so), this Orange mast has no throughput whatsoever in terms of data. As soon as you connect to it, Tunein stops working, due to lack of data.

It's rather annoying, to put it mildly.

Hopefully EE can fix this dodgy Orange mast!
You'll be lucky, there's 3 Orange masts near here that have had faults for around 8 years and to this day they still haven't been fixed.

Hey!!! Arrgghhhhh.... i was just about to say that.... hahahahaha
Indeed, that will solve a lot of problems and most people will find they have 4G indoors all of a sudden (even without the 800).
Also 2G and 3G will vanish without trace.
Awesome!!!
