Fair enough might check it out not a big problem for me but 60 pound cheaper a year for virtually same thing.

Don't think my Plan is even offered anymore.

Seems like I can initiate more calls over VoLTE, I'm wondering if they have fully enabled more masts.

Perversely I don't have VoLTE or WifiCalling working today.

I do actually wonder how they get meaningful test data when it's mostly iPhones connecting to VoLTE and only if the owner knows about VoLTE and has enabled the option for it.

I think it was set to on by default by one of the recent iOS updates. (I'm sure when I went in to check it was already set to voice and data).

I imagine they can see stats of how many calls were made / received over VoLTE and if any of them failed / dropped and how well they're handing over to WC / 3G etc

Limiting to one handset type also helps testing I assume, as it narrows down fault finding on the handset end.

It would seem that unless any other phones have had VoLTE settings that I am not aware of, we're still likely a way off from an official launch. Perhaps there were issues that have caused a delay.

No. If you start a call on WiFi it drops when you go out of range.

I imagine they can, my point was that only really 1 handset is supported and VoLTE isn't the default setting, so I'm wondering how many stats they can actually get when most of their userbase isn't providing them with stats.

The S7 and G5 were both advertised as supporting 4G Calling so I'd imagine they could roll out with those 2 plus all the iPhone's.

I think even the S6 was meant to be 4G calling ready, before the whole thing got pushed back last time.

I wonder why some areas seem to roll out VoLTE fully in a few days (London) where's the areas that were switched on last week are still not fully connected a week later.

Where I am VoLTE kinda works depending on which mast you're connected to and even then sometimes a mast you've previously used it on suddenly doesn't allow you to start a call over VoLTE for seemingly no reason.

Yeah I've been playing around the my S7 Edge from EE. The settings that are on EE's firmware are incomplete. I flashed it to the latest BTU version of the software as that seems to have all the settings for wifi-calling too. The VoLTE settings there are also incomplete. When I put in a 3 SIM and restarted the phone, all the VoLTE settings and switches for 3 were enabled. I used what I saw there and pulled out info from Apple's EE carrier file to fill in the blanks for EE but it won't enable VoLTE. There must be another place for enabling it on the phone. I'll see what I can do tomorrow when I have more time.

Just looking at the Network Status Checker, there seems to be an unusually large number of yellow pins (upgrading) everywhere in the South West.

Anyone know why?

No VOLTE yet in Exeter or Torquay (s6 edge +) but I did notice today that on the outskirts of Exeter (near the airport) I'm now picking up all be it very weak, band 20 and band 7 but mainly band 3. If I'm right band 7 is LTE A (4G+) but it never shows 4g+ on the screen, even when I'm in a 4g+ location ie parts of Torquay or Plymouth, anyone know why?
I used to be on Vodafone and the speed difference and coverage on ee is sooooooo superior wish I changed sooner.

Weird. Except for thursday last week (I think), all the masts that were VoLTE 'switched on' last Tuesday are still 'on' now.

The masts still work if you start the VoLTE call on one that works, it's just sometimes I'm in a location that I've started a VoLTE call on before and it works, other times it drops down to 3G.

I'm just wondering why sometimes I can make a VoLTE call and sometimes I can't, in the same location.

Oh I know that, I'm pretty sure every 4G mast is now VoLTE enabled, you just can't start the call on all of them.

Maybe they are having issues with your mast(s)?

Adding on to this, it looks like the work is due to finish by 6am tomorrow everywhere too. Weird.

Could it actually be the server centre for the south west that all the masts are linked too, might be a dumb answer I'm giving.

How do you get the map on the network status checker to zoom out like that?

I don't really have an answer, but 3 has been saying that maintenance is happening in my area for ages now (like every week or two). I wonder if those appear on EE's map too (if they relate to something MBNL are doing)

I am in the SW (and while EE says there is no maintenance in my area, it says there is for the cellsite in the village a couple of miles away - so I don't know how granular it gets)

Type in your postcode and search, highlight some text to the left of the map, then try and highlight the map like you would text, then press 0 on the keypad to zoom out, + to zoom in and use the directional arrows the move around the map
