VoLTE was no where to be seen this morning, I find it hard to believe they are manually switching it on and off this often so I really wonder egats going on.

Perhaps it's a capacity thing ie. if 3G has plenty of spare it will us that instead for calls.

Probably just playing about with some configurations or they've noticed some dropped calls or something.

They need to make sure it's 100% working as well (or better) than 3G / 2G

Yes, and as it's still being rolled out and tested with a very limited group (i.e. one phone vendor) then it's the time to make changes, and that can mean it not working from time to time.

Perhaps there are times they limit things to engineering devices, as it wouldn't be fair to mess genuine customers around. As such, if they do an upgrade, they may lock out ordinary users temporarily until it is deemed working to a level for public use.

In Nottingham and the surrounding areas no - however on the Midland Mainline and at my parents in Preston it's on 3G most of the time.

IME the places it's on 4G are the places that used to have 3G (back when I had a 3G phone on T-Mobile) and the places it's on Edge are where it used to be on the T-Mobile Orange network. That being said the places where it does fall back to Edge are shrinking by the week (Holme Pierpont Country Park, Cotgrave Country Park and the old RAF Newton base being noticeable areas of improvement).”

EE need to improve coverage along the A52 from the eastern part of Bingham, Whatton and Elton.

EE is very good in the Vale of Belvoir around Stathern and Langar due infill masts that O2/Voda don't have. Will be great when these have 4G on them.

The 4G coverage plot for the Isle of Scilly seems to cover more sea than land mass!

Erm.. it's called testing? Change the configuration, see how it performs, adjust, restart system, see how it performs... repeat until ready.

Seems perfectly normal to me.

Sure, I just wonder what in Nottingham is making things so difficult, the other areas that got switched on 2 weeks ago are on the 4G calling list as available. They only seemed to have minor disruptions before full switch on.

Obviously some system is not performing as well as they expect it to - so they are fixing it. Also happens when you go live, no matter how much testing you do

Been tied up with a few things, hence lack of time on here. I'll just get rid of a few errors being posted.

The EE 95% Geographic coverage ambition is nothing to do with ESN, the coverage requirement for ESN is below 95% geographic.

VoLTE we have brought various towns are cities in to live service, if your city is not listed as live (Nottingham I am looking at you!) we are still testing and making sure the service performance is the best we can get before launch, because of this you may notice variation in VoLTE service.

That 95% commitment is good to know! BT really must be serious about investing in EE then.

PS Check your PMs please!

Anyone on the 16gb SIM only which is EE Extra (and probably any other new EE Extra customers) can now get the EURODATA £3/day 500mb EU roaming allocation.

Send the word EURODATA via text to 150 to enable; this worked for me earlier today when it did fail last week.

If you are not on an EE Extra plan you can get the other offer (£4/day?) with the code EUROPASS instead.

Pretty sure jonmorris has posted this already but good for people who want this.

He posted a couple of weeks ago saying "it would be fixed by end month" - which seems to be today. Hadn't seen a post since on this topic, but I could easily have missed one.

I did also post here and Tweet this yesterday, but it is easy to miss things in a thread talking about a million different things!

Hi, do you know anything about upgrades in areas? I live in Wakefield city centre next to an ex orange site which thankfully is still live. Any ideas when this is likely to be upgraded the post code of the site is wf1 1lh, also I am thinking of joining EE I have a pay and go sim can you access 800 on pay and go! If so, we don't have it live here yet so I'm unhappily sitting on a sub 1mb Orange site.

Thanks

Sorry Skippy, I know nothing of upgrades in areas. I'm just lucky that I randomly found 800mhz being transmitted from a site near to me (although VoLTE is still not 'live' on it)

My local mast still hasn't been 4G'd. In fact it to is Orange only on **** backhaul which gives no throughput or 0.1mbps. (Strangely transmits MNC 30)

I would guess that 800mhz will at first be limited to Pay Monthly as it looks like VoLTE is, but it's in EE's benefit for everyone to be on 4G all the time so I say it VoLTE + 800 will be available to PAYG users. When?.......

Bookey will be the best person to ask. PM him, and ask nicely!

Note 'ambition', not commitment...

Not having a go at Bookey here BTW, that's the wording used in EE's original press release too.

Cynical, me? Abso-f*cking-lutely!

If it's anything close it will be good too.

Best bet would be to send Bookey a PM, and he'll be able to take a look for you

We've still got a few Orange sites where I travel, it's a bit of a pain as the Orange sites are still on copper backhaul, which is useless for data! Though my new EE sim tends to prefer EE masts over Orange masts. The Virgin SIM I had previously, kept jumping to Orange when it wasn't always necessary.
