Can you tell

Everyone makes all these big smug judgmental comments towards iPhone users "your can get just as good an android for half the price! Don't waste your money iSheep!"
Well I got an android for about half the price. It's about half the phone. Go figure? You get what you pay for.
About a decade ago, somebody said to me "the days of 'you get what you pay for' are long gone". Laugh? I fell off my chair...

You can get decent android phones, but not half the price lol

Hi guys I seem to have a problem. I'm on a 20G Extra plan and have been since Friday, I have roaming activated. When I try to add eurodata by texting 150 I get a text back say unable to add this to your plan try texting europass done that with the same response. Customer service and technical can't seem to answer why either.

Help or can you point me in the right direction. Thanks
Anyone shed any light. Thanks

Woah! That's awesome for 3G! Whereabouts was that?

That upload speed for 3G is awesome too - getting close to the theoretical max!

I often find 3G speeds to be 10-20Mbps on EE... never have I seen that before. Is it on an MBNL mast, that has been upgraded to fiber backhaul and 4G?

Never had a problem on the 6P since March. Just wish it had VoLTE too!

Small village called Nayland just north of Colchester in Essex. No 4G on this mast and no Edge on 2G so maybe still waiting for new kit. A small sniff of 4G if I fourced my handset to 4G but this was from a distant mast.

Thank you. EE called today level two support said it can't be added because it's an EE Extra plan I'm on. Rubbish, I'll contact the person on the link.

Thanks

To be fair, you can probably sort of get just as good for about 10-15% less than an iPhone. (e.g. a 6P). Certainly not half though, no. The 5X is probably fine for those who say "I can't believe you have so many apps! I only use mine for email and browsing! No wonder it's slow, you've got things installed, the horror!" but for anyone who does like me and tries to run a smartwatch, fitness band, numerous social networking apps etc it really struggles. Many a time I've tried to launch the camera or the music app and been left furiously tapping away at a frozen phone while it "thinks" for 10-20 seconds. Not enough RAM, I guess - ironically the iPhone 6 had less (this has 2GB, the original 6 had 1GB IIRC) but Android doesn't seem as efficient at managing it.

Thing is, for an extra 10-15% I think I'd probably rather have the better memory management, Wifi calling that was working ages ago and doesn't crap out after a day, no requirement to babysit running apps, getting all the features like VoLTE right away etc. We live and learn.

Wi-Fi calling working fine on the 6P! 😀
How long for, does it do the same thing on the 6P where it stops working if you, say, go to work for the day and come home, and have to reboot to get it working? If not it's odd, as I thought it must be an Android bug rather than a hardware/driver issue.

My phone takes a little while after connecting to Wi-Fi to enable Wi-Fi calling, but I certainly don't need to reboot. Maybe 30 seconds to a minute at absolute most.

One quirk is that if I use an ad blocking VPN, it stops Wi-Fi calling working.. but I'd have thought the phone would bypass the VPN for that, just like if you set up a personal hotspot, you can't use a VPN running on the phone.

I'm still trying to figure out what males the Nexus 5X drop wifi calling.

I originally thought that it might be something to do with being on the fringe of the wifi network such as when I'm sat in the car before I drive off but last night I plugged my phone in to charge and it had wifi calling. This morning I woke up for it to have gone. It was plugged in all night and had a solid wifi connection so I've got no idea.
Has anyone phoned EE about this since it says they support on all Nexus 5X versions?

Well I must say that EE are certainly performing nicely in Leicester!

Got this result in Leicester earlier today:

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/1932001274

This is the mast I was on:

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/place/...397592!6m1!1e1

Checked the phone's service mode and it said 20MHz at Band 3, so 1800MHz. Not bad at all for a busy city center!

I was quite surprised, because the mast at the train station gives about 10Mbps (it did when I last tested it) and the mast near the closest Subway to De Montfort University gave about 20Mbps. Though then, they were the only two real 4G masts active.

They have since upgraded a mast very close to DMU Leicester, and also put 4G on the mast I tested today. The mast closest to DMU has certainly increased 3G coverage in the university buildings, and I think it does 4G2600 as well.

Admittedly, no. Feels like it'd be a waste of a valuable day or two - telecommunications companies are not exactly renowned for knowledgeable tech support, at least not accessible from the first line - it'd be a case of going through a lot of "have you tried turning it off and on again, there you go it's fixed. Oh so it fails after a day or so? Right, try a factory reset, here's how...." and I don't have the time for all that or the desire for the upheaval of a factory reset just to prove that it's nothing I have installed.

Someone somewhere probably knows, either at EE, Google, LG or some combination.

Alas, this month's update didn't fix it (only mentioned security anyway)

Top trolling from EE, as if three aren't having a bad enough day already....

https://twitter.com/EE/status/730316585768996864

You'll find out soon enough why EE is rather annoyed at 3.. And why marketing will no longer not take aim at them. All's fair in love and war..

That is very good. Just about only you on there at that time.
That's roughly 28.6Mbps down.
I would say that general top end is 26-27 and then you get those peeks now and then.
Fastest I have ever had on 3G is 30.45Mbps but I stupidly didn't get the screenshot.
Top of Haldon hill near Exeter.

Generally means the 3G layer has been given full bandwidth I would have thought.
Some sites get restricted bandwidth as far as I can tell. mine seems to be set to 15Mbps on 3G.
Probably due to backhaul constraints which I'm sure in due course will be resolved.
