I leave myself messages to make myself think I'm popular and important....!

Anyone remember when to you could use PC software to send text messages? I think you could send the code to then icons on and off through them. Reminds me too of flash messages, which would display automatically to the user...
Flash messages still exist...! I get them on my iPhone as part of 2 factor authentication when signing in to a customer's VPN...

Thanks, I'll try that a bit later on to see if that gets rid of it!

The BlackBerry Priv becomes the first android to officially support VoLTE.
Can't be long before wider support now

What an odd choice to be first!

I'm in a VoLTE area but just noticed that my phone still steps down to 3G to set up call diverts (call forwarding on iPhone).

Calls and texts are fine over 4G though.

They were able to do 1 on 1 testing with the handful of Priv users still in existence .

I'd love to see the settings and port them over to my S7

Was reading this article dated December 2015
http://www.thinksmallcell.com/Metroc...all-cells.html
Andy, a popular speaker in the conference circuit, is nothing if not consistent. He's been saying for some time that EE would make full use of their existing assets (spectrum and sites) before densifying with an additional layer of small cells. He outlined a three stage evolution plan:

a) Expanding existing macrocell sites on city centre rooftops with additional sectors and full complement of 2G, 3G and 4G technologies. This includes the 2600 MHz FDD LTE band that is now supported by the latest smartphones, and may expand to 4, 5 or sometimes even 6 sectors as macro sites evolve.

b) Expanding existing street level microcells, again with the full complement of 2G, 3G and 4G. These can often reuse the same small antenna already in place and may be single sector, sometimes two or even three.

c) Installing a new underlay of urban small cells, which would be 4G only and capable of Carrier Aggregation.
Do we think we are now into stages 2 and 3 in the big cities?

800-presumed is still working after all. Sat here with full scale when it's normally about 2/3rds on this vague Marshmallow signal indicator, and seeing unknown band on LTE Discovery. Drops a bit when it switches to band 3.

Hehe... if 4G Calling isn't coming to Android for a while even though it seemingly has access to 800, Apple will love the reliability message it sends out when people get their failed calls in patchy areas. "Must be those cheap and nasty Android phones hurr hurr"

EE’s investment in building a 4G network capable of supporting the amazing appetite for data at Glastonbury Festival includes:

Adding a sixth temporary mobile antenna unit to the network to improve coverage and increase capacity
Identifying optimum locations for all six mobile sites to deliver 4G coverage to all areas of the festival
Reviewing congestion graphs from 2015 to optimise capacity for the 2016 event
Tripling the 4G spectrum capacity, adding 35MHz of 2600MHz spectrum to the existing 20MHz of 1800MHz spectrum
Implementing 4G Calling (VoLTE) to allow phone calls to be carried over the 4G network
Implementing state-of-the-art six sector antenna technology to optimise capacity
Deploying the full EE portfolio of 2G and 3G spectrum
Increasing backhaul capacity to provide an optimum data experience

Great news about them tripling capacity! It was really congested most of the time last year.

Those are some impressive stats, 55Mhz of spectrum should see most users stay happy.

Though that's some data usage that they predict.

EE predicts that with 135,000 revellers on site, EE customers will use a colossal 15 terabytes of data via its 4G network over the course of the five days.

Possible. I wonder what band the new urban small cells will be in? One of the two 2600 carriers?

I would like just one CoW (Cell on Wheels) to be dragged to Download Festival. Hell, I might even come and pick it up with the Defender if I have to, as long as someone tells me where the on button is! Might resolve a weekend of "No Service"!

Anything new in the Hull area? Think orchard park/Cottingham has had some work done lately, judging by signal strength?

Imagine if I went and did some speed tests. They'd need even more capacity!

How recently? Earlier this year one of Cottingham's sites got 4G'd, Three 3G added and the power appeared to go up. Then a month ago, the other MBNL site got a backhaul upgrade and also appeared to have the power bumped a bit (also had Three 4G added). Orchard Park has had a temporary mast put up for MBNL over the last few days to go alongside the Vodafone one though we're not sure as to whether it's live yet.
