EE added then removed some info from the 4G Calling page:

With 4G Calling (also known as VoLTE). Sounds simple, but you’d be surprised how few mobile providers will let you do this.

The big benefit is your internet doesn’t slow down on a call. On hands free and using Google Maps?

As part of our ongoing roll out of 4G Calling across the EE 4G Network, further to the locations previously enabled we’ve now extended the service to a large number of additional areas across the UK. As we continue with the roll out in the coming weeks you may notice more locations where 4G Calling becomes available.

Northern Ireland (where all 4G sites have been 4G Calling enabled), Aberdeenshire, Berkshire, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Cambridgeshire, Cheshire, Cumbria, Derbyshire, Devon, Dorset, Essex, Greater Manchester, Hampshire, Kent, Lancashire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Oxfordshire, Sussex, West Midlands and Yorkshire.

Some of the key cities and towns that now benefit from 4G Calling are:

Aberdeen Chippenham Hull Newport Windsor
Banbury Chester Ipswich Nottingham Wolverhampton
Belfast Coventry Kettering Poole Worcester
Birmingham Crewe
Kidderminster
Plymouth Worthing
Blackburn Darlington Leeds Reading Wrexham
Blackpool Derby Lincoln Redditch York
Bolton Dundee Liverpool Salisbury
Boston Dunfermline London Scunthorpe
Bournemouth Edinburgh Londonderry Sheffield
Brighton Glasgow Lowestoft Slough
Bristol Grantham Maidenhead Stratford Upon Avon
Caernarfon Halifax Manchester Sunderland
Cambridge Hatfield Middlesbrough Swansea
Cardiff Hereford Newbury Swindon
Carlisle Huddersfield Newcastle Warwick

Went hiking yesterday up Mam Tor and the peaks nearby, was surprised to get a decent 4G signal and speediest of around 23Mb/s not sure if it was 1800 or 800 and didn't think to check at the time.
While you were in the area you may have passed one of the countries most well hidden base stations (albeit tetra) on the A57 - https://goo.gl/maps/CqYQXZsEg4r

Back on topic, I've always been always surprised that Orange covered Edale (2G only) but didn't cover the A57. Hopefully they will put some more masts up to fill in the large no-signal areas along there.

I'm surprised Sunderland took so long to appear on the list considering one of the larger EE sites is there.

May well have been working a long time before in places. EE waits until a certain percentage of a town/city is done before declaring it.

Well... Something seems to be up in Higham Ferrers, Northamptonshire!

3G seems quite weak today. 2G seems to be a bit weak as well, and EDGE instead of GPRS. I wonder, could we now be getting 4G?

I've tried to use the search tool on this forum but it seems to be broken - does anyone know if you can buy a sim free Sony Xperia Z5 and use EE wifi calling on it?

No, maybe in the future.

Look at the ee wifi calling help page for all compatible phones

It's dead easy to change ROMs on Xperia phones though. Download the FTF, use flashtools, job done.

Won't even lose any data.

As I expected...
From EE just a few minutes ago:

Hi [beans0ntoast]. Good news!
Next week, superfast 4GEE is coming to [my location].
Whilst this is happening you may notice a short interruption to your normal service in your area. We'll aim to complete work within a day and when we are done you'll see the 4G icon on your phone.
Seems like I am getting official 4G coverage on EE soon. I was (and still am) getting 4G from EE, from a neighboring mast, but it looks like our mast is good to go.

I'll keep you posted of the outcome, and speeds I get when my mast has been done!

Funny you should say that my signal is much weaker in Wakefield (home) too. Both 2/3G I wonder if the same could be happening here?

Have any yellow pins been on your mast location on the status checker recently?

No not in my area, but it would appear a mast is either out of action or is being upgraded as my signal has more than halved.

Checked the status checker and it said that there are no known issues in my area... Maybe it hasn't come up though...
I know that something is happening though as I got a text from EE!

Not gonna start a new thread for this, but does anyone know what makes an international ringing tone happen?

I'm asking in this thread because I think someone said a while ago that it happens when you call someone who's on EE WifiCalling?

(Is the ringing tone dependant on the receiver or the callers phone..?)

I rang my friend the other day who was on 800MHz 4G on Three, and it was international.

I still don't really understand what ever makes an international ringing tone happen actually, because even when a friend is abroad it's sometimes the normal tone and sometimes international!?

Sorry for so many Qs

It's got something to do with IMS. So all VoLTE to VoLTE, and VoLTE to Wifi calls and vice versa has the intl dialling tone.

A LOT of yellow pins (at least 50) in the north west (Liverpool/Manchester) on Status Checker with work commencing until 7am tomorrow.

I wonder what they are doing?

My wife has lost Wi-Fi calling on her 6P (I'm currently using my own EE SIM in another device).

Nothing has changed on my router, so wonder if this is an issue anyone else has suffered?

I've suffered it a lot on my iPhone 6 since they've started testing VoLTE in my area and switched on VoLTE Wifi handover. My fix is to put the phone into Airplane Mode and then switch on Wifi until Wifi Calling turrns on and then turn off Airplane Mode. Not sure if this will work on the 6P.

It seems like EE's appetite to offer larger data allowances might be increasing...

I have a data SIM that I picked up on a special offer earlier this year - £15 for 25GB on a 30 day contract.

I use it as my primary broadband connection and usually get through at least another 20GB in add-ons each month, so the total bill is usually £45+.

I got a text today offering to upgrade me to 64GB for £28 a month, albeit on a 12 month contract. Sounded like a bloody bargain to me, so called in and went for it.

I actually got it for £25.20 a month, as I was lucky enough to get one of those brilliant CS guys you sometimes get who just make the whole process so much better (and he applied an extra 10% loyalty discount... )

£25.20 for 64GB - I'm happy with that!

A plain old reboot worked. Bit annoying if this is going to be happening even semi-regularly as my wife will not notice or reboot.

To be honest, it isn't a problem at home given near perfect 3G/4G coverage, but it's useful out and about (and on the Underground). She wouldn't think to check it was working, and nor would most people I expect.

I think they've done a bit of testing in Gloucester. Wifi Calling handover now works and I've managed to make a few VoLTE calls in the last couple of weeks,
