I can get 120mb on band 7 in Wakefield City Centre even at 4:30pm a mast covering the shops Market and Bus Station.

I started a call on Wi-Fi, it went onto VoLTE, but then handed back down to Wi-Fi after a few minutes

I'm in an area that isn't officially VoLTE enabled, but it seems to work if the call starts on Wi-Fi. But I am within line of sight of my 4G mast so signal strength on either Wi-Fi or LTE are not an issue here.

Does anyone know if this is intended behaviour, and if so - how aggressive is it about handing over to Wi-Fi once on VoLTE?

I spent nearly an hour travelling around Hull today with 100mbps, or more, continuously on EE 4G+ L26+L18. Crazy fast

I think most places can do this now. Can start a call on Wifi - turn off Wifi and will then become a VoLTE call. When you hang up but then redial it will CSFB to 3G.

If I turn WiFi back on while on a call it takes around 20 sec to go back to WifiCalling

From reading it's looking like a Cat 4 device maxes out at 150 down 50 up so my speed test is pretty much as fast as my iPhone 6 can go anyway.

Looking forward to the iPhone 7 with its faster modem, though guessing EE will still be capped at 150?

Though having said this, apart from showing off speed tests, does anyone really need any faster than 150Mbps on a mobile device?

For quite a lot of people, 150Mbps is faster than their home broadband connection so moaning about a 150Mbps cap is a very small issue!

No harm having it for when you need to download large files, or upload (where 100 up will be awesome!).

Many services would never call upon such speeds anyway.

Hi guys has anyone heard any rumours about a 4G800 switch on/rollout yet?

Well EE said they experienced their highest ever data surge during the football yesterday. It would be interesting to know how many Gbps it was, and also how it compares to other networks.

It's not about the speed available on one particular device though - it's about knowing the network has the capacity available for many devices being used simultaneously.

I find the high speed test results on EE more reassuring than impressive - they show the network has a good amount of reserve to be able to continue providing decent service as usage grows. Some of the other networks don't have that.

Not sure if this has been asked already or not. Did I also hear that it is being CA'd with 1800mhz?

Indeed. Yesterday, I was in central London when the footie was on and did a test of all networks bar O2 (I will get another O2 SIM shortly) and EE was once again doing great.

Vodafone was acceptable, and Three was very good too. All would be perfectly usable, but which network looks like the one still providing a good service in the next 6, 12 and 18 months?

I wasn't far from Southwark where Vodafone has been testing new equipment, so I am sure it can improve. As for Three?

Is that an old Orange 3G mast with virtually no backhaul? Because it's very rare for problems like that to be occurring...

It certainly is, and it's a city centre site. Which is why I'm surprised it hasn't been upgraded yet.

800Mhz working inside pubs in Bangor, North Wales where previously there was no service or it'd drop on and off an occasionally usable 2G / 3G signal.

Not sure if it's my phone, the network, or just low power, but I didn't think much of it. I wouldn't have realised it was 800Mhz was it not for LTE Discovery. It worked momentarily far better than an intermittent 3G signal, but whilst it could get 2 Bars of coverage on 800 it'd always drop off and cut out, just like any other weak signal.

I had some EE 800+1800 CA yesterday. Got around 90mbps

All signs point to probably. But nobody will know anything concrete unless EE officially announce it.

You shouldn't be surprised. Masts mounted on buildings are the hardest to get access to, and getting permission from landlords can be very problematic. Sometimes they ask for a lot of money.

It's why the mast practically in my back garden has never been 4G'd as it's on the roof of a hotel. Last rumour I heard on here was that EE were looking for an alternative site.

The mast that is causing me problems is on a council high rise, I'm surprised the council would resist? I haven't even seen any planning permission for it?

I think that after VoLTE is officially launched in July, 800 won't be far behind. Or EE may not actually make a big deal about it (it's not something most consumers need to know or care about) and just activate it quietly.

Coverage maps will start to show it, like Three, of course.
