Maybe it might be that EE are testing L08 on that mast, rather than allowing everyone to jump on it - as normally L08 would have a priority above that of U21 and G18?

Or am I totally wrong?
Yep, totally wrong!

Briefly connected to some 800mhz today, checked the Serving Layer Priority in Field Test Mode where it was 0. First time I've seen that, every other time I've connected to it another place it was set to 4.
I have noticed 800 appearing now and again. I also got priority 0.
This is clearly the field test not working properly.
But something is going on....

I actually think Field Test is working correctly (for this anyway). It's probably just at 0 for testing.

How long you thinking into they start rolling it out? Another gradual rollout like VoLTE? Thing what worries me is the infographic map which should landmass coverage still not high for end of 2016 where I would have thought that 800 would boost it massively.

I think the 800 switch on will be done in one go, give or a take a few days (depending on how easy it is to do from a network operations centre). I doubt there will be a big song and dance about it, and most people won't know unless they're on here!

Until most 2016 and 2015 Android devices are updated to have VoLTE, I can't see EE doing any advertising. It would be mad to promote better indoor coverage, or rural coverage, and have the small print stating it is only available to a small number of handsets.

I'd guess they'll start rolling out OTA updates for EE supplied phones, and update generic firmwares where possible (like the S7 getting VoLTE on Three even on SIM free models) and then begin an advertising campaign, where Kevin Bacon will feature in an ad that shows the benefits, and not mentioning VoLTE or 800, just that EE now covers more places. Then the small print can say 'compatible devices only' but with that being a far smaller list than now.

Hope 800 will be arriving soon. The coverage really could be rather special if Three's 800MHz is something to go by.

You could be right. Or EE have a silly number of iPhone 6 and 6s handsets that are using VoLTE and want to shout about it !!

just that EE now covers more places. Then the small print can say 'compatible devices only' but with that being a far smaller list than now.
Maybe they can use the 'smashing down walls' phrase that a purple puppet used, or maybe have Bacon in somewhere like an office toilet cubicle saying '4G now works in here'

I've been using VoLTE for a while now and don't even realise I am anymore. Though I find WiFi call to LTE handoff for calls still fails sometimes.

I agree. 800 Three gives me full bars in my house but EE 1800 gives me a slightly faster (but flaky) 1 bar.

Regarding wifi and 4G calling, is anybody else still getting an international ringback tone? Surely this needs changing at some point, especially if the service is considered live?

Yep - they even state this in the 4G & Wifi Calling help pages.

People keep asking if I'm abroad when they call!

I like to think I'm relatively tech savvy, and don't see how it could be all that difficult to change? Surely it's a localisation setting in the back end, or something?

Or maybe that I am doing a lot of very technically skilled people a discredit there, and it's a very complex system!

I think it's just how the IMS works, not sure it can be changed

Anyone know what's going to be happening at Thorpe Camp museum, at Tattershall Thorpe, Lincolnshire?

EE signal as follows
4G, outdoors -120 dBm, 25% 0 bars. Nothing indoors
3G, outdoors -107 dBm, 10% 1 bar. Nothing indoors.
Both are 23430.

2G, EDGE, 23433, outdoors 75%, don't know how many dBm but it's full strength outdoors. Don't know indoors as it was a very rough test, as I will not use 2G

Anyone know what will happen? This orange mast needs modernizing as coverage is poor!

Could well be the launch of L08 and/or Volte support on a larger number of devices.

Wouldn't it be great if the S4 got Volte? Though if not, will the LG G4 get it? As I already seriously considering going for the G4 in a few months time.

Probably be something to do with BT sport being available to EE customers.

There are a lot of ex Orange 2G only sites in the area so I imagine infrastructure isn't there yet for 3G/4G. With exception to Kirkby on Bain and Mareham Le Fen MBNL sites, 4G seems to be live on MBNL sites, indeed I uploaded photos over 4G at the Battle Of Britain Memorial museum just fine last year.

If live on the MBNL sites then this is probably waiting on the backhaul and from experience trying to get a circuit (leased line) into a building, this can take from 6 weeks to 2.5 years from original order :-/
