It seems they've ruined it! I used to leave it on permanently, but you cannot tweak it so now lose haptic feedback while it's on and have a useless reminder in notifications.
On the plus side, I've now fully tested Wi-Fi calling to 4G calling hand off.
I lose between 0.2 and 1 second of audio but the call does not drop when moving in either direction.
I'm particularly impressed that it handed off from 4G to Wi-Fi when the 4G signal was about to break up.
I know iPhone people have had this a while, but I thought the Android implementation might be sub par.
It's good to be wrong sometimes.
Now I just hope we get some options to save battery when using Wi-Fi calling as it still seems to consume a lot of power holding that weak, unused, 4G signal.
Maybe they could change the way it polls when Wi-Fi signal quality is good and Wi-Fi calling active?
I wish they'd hurry up and get VoLTE support on the S7/S7 Edge. They've had months now, and it's a flagship handset.
Just returned from Penzance. 4G has not improved there at all - there's only a very weak 4G signal in the town itself. 4G is present all around it at least, I got 100mbps at Trewidden Garden. Penzance's 3G coverage appears to be relying on an old Orange mast somewhere, speed was a blistering 4mbps.
Off topic. but sitting on Porthchapel Beach, there's still no UK network coverage, but my phone was picking up all the French nets (although not register). It did manage to register on Bouygues LTE for a few seconds though. Everyone's phones on the beach changed time to CEST which was causing much confusion around me.
Round the corner at Porthcurno, I wasn't able to register on any nets but I was picking up WCDMA from SFR and Orange. A network search showed the rest of the French nets, and even Sure, which must be from one of the channel islands.

Just got an excited text from my tech savvy old dear, she has 4G at home so upgrades have taken place around Sleaford in Lincolnshire.

I just saw on roadworks that in one place EE will replace and install new pole which has already 4G1800 and 3G2100 Three 4G1800 and 3G2100. Why would they do that if it works now well. Is it something to do with 4G800?

Can you find it on the local planning site? that would tell you.
Is WiFi calling working for anyone else - it's stopped working overnight on my Z5 Compact

No problems here.
Turned WiFi Calling off, rebooted, turned it on, and it's working again!
(Already toggled off and on and rebooted)
That speed test might have been a bit of a cheat - in the park right next to the main phone exchange in Nottingham, moved 10 meters so the trees obscured the mast and it fell to 60 down / 4 up... Not sure why the upload is so poor though - normally upload is faster than download!

Wifi calling just seems to be buggy on Android, iPhones don't seem to lose it or require rebooting to get it to work.

Well, today was quite interesting, network wise.
All of this took place at the Deli-ish sandwich shop on Bede Island, Leicester.
Done a speedtest on 3G. 12.14Mbps down, 0.87Mbps up. Not bad for a congested city center, close to a main university.
Went to 4G only mode. Initially had a 3-4 bar 4G signal, went to service mode to find it was Band 3. Speedtest result: 14.54Mbps down, 44.78Mbps up. That upload is pretty good for a city center!
Afterwards, it automatically dropped to 2-3 bars 4G. Opened up service mode, result? Now on Band 7 (L26). Speed test: 28.56Mbps down and 29.55Mbps up.
Interesting to see this happen - is this band steering, which decides what band to use in terms of data?

Where I live in East Dorset, there are no planning applications being submitted for upgrades of existing EE sites. There was one for Three and there have been a couple for Vodafone, but all of these say under decision "Prior approval not required". I therefore take it as meaning that the alterations are covered under the original planning application. With this in mind, the roadworks site seems to be the best indication of any upgrades that are happening.

I've never had a problem with it on my S7 edge.

Yes band steering happens between bands. Means you get put on the "best one" to manage the load between the two. Otherwise you get 70% of users on the 2600 and 30% on the 1800 and as the capacities are equal there's wasted spectrum
Does anyone who had the latest July update for the Nexus 6P know if it added VoLTE support?

Yes EE added 4G/LTE to my mast (1800mhz) back in 2012 without any visible changes to the mast or any roadworks. I assume new equipment in the cabinets in the compound at the base but you couldn't see any difference.

I sideloaded the OTA and it's not on the latest beta, so the same will be true with M...

Could be to replace worn out antenna panels and pole. May not change what services that mast provides but new panels could increase range.
