Certainly unhappy since the update - lost it again yesterday. However I have noticed the signal strength indicator is much better than before - 2 or 3 bars of 4G where previously it was "No Service" and five bars where I only had one before. Wonder if it's got 800 access and doesn't bother with WiFi Calling if there is plenty of signal from the main network.

Don't think they've rolled it out to the EE supplied Samsung's yet.

It most probably has.

I've just flashed my Z5 with the EE firmware, and the CellMapper app is showing it's using 800 fairly regularly at home - 3-4 bars as compared to the usual 1-2 on 1800.

Bunch of shysters. Moved into a basement flat temporarily so needed broadband on a stick. Sold me an Osprey, this is a mobile router, create your own wifi hotspot it claims. Fantasy. Reality...

Your computer is offline

Three times I took it back to the store I bought it from. Works fine says a shaggy-haired twenty-something. Your signal is too weak where you live. Prize plum. Goes with magnolia. Your outfit claims to have the fastest 4G signal, 50% faster than your competitors according to your window poster.

A couple of weeks later I saw a smartphone I liked. Unfortunately it was on the EE network. Like a fool I bought it. Just as useless really. Outside is average, indoors it switches from EE to No Service and a tortoise comes to mind. Once the data runs out on the mobile router I'll be making a connection with EE - I'll be posting it back through their letterbox with an accompanying letter of appraisal.

Ever considered being in a basement might be the problem rather than the network? I'm surprised you bought a phone on the same network you already knew didn't work though?!

That was a quick response. I assume you're not on EE then. Why did I buy from the same network? Fair point but it was the phone I wanted. Sorry but claims of superfast or strong signals ought to reach a flat just below the road with a window wide open.

Whilst coverage issues can be frustrating, no network can completely guarantee indoor service due to the construction of buildings and the location of the mast.

If the smartphone that you bought is Android, and it's displaying "No Service" then it's not picking up any other network either. Might be worth doing a manual network search to see if this is the case, if another company's network is showing then perhaps they will work out better for you.

Yes it's android - it often switches from EE to No Service so is unusable - thank you for that tip, I can do a manual network search and of course switch to another network.

But if a competitor's network is available it should say "emergency calls only" rather than "No service". The location could be a blackspot on all nets....

What phone was it? Firstly it might be available on another network (if that has coverage). Secondly, perhaps that phone hasn't got as good an antenna as another phone. Thirdly, how temporary is your stay there? Is this a problem you only have to deal with for a short while?

Is it a relativly new build - if so they tend to have insulation and glass which blocks all radio signals (pretty similar to modern trains) - try moving the ofsprey round in the window and you might get a better signal.

Walls do a bloody good job of blocking signal, until last week I'd get five bars in the garden, yet indoors it's down to 2 bars, and in places on the ground floor "No Signal" - and a network scan shows only EE and my housemates on Three and Vodafone have the same issues - the basement has always been no signal with no networks found on a scan, but WiFi Calling does work down there. Since I got a software update which enabled LTE I do however get two bars, more than likly LTE-800 as the RF modulator output from my EE TV Box is now littered with interference (it's up in the 60s somewhere - so LTE band)

On the broadband side, perhaps get a mobile broadband device that has antenna slots. You can then get a stick-on antenna for a window that should improve things, as best as possible.

Wi-Fi calling seems to work all the time on the latest N beta...

voLTE to go with it would be nice, the lack of it can't be good for their dropped call rate.

Unfortunately all networks are bound by the laws of physics and town planning....

I have full 4G outside my house but none downstairs inside. I do get very strong 3G though, so that's a mast they haven't done yet then....

Huawei P8. Six-month contract due to work so short-term.

Thanks for that Kev. I'm not a long way down you see. I am using the phone now (5.35am) and I get two out of five bars on the signal. From here I can see the steps and the morning sky above, I guess I am about twelve feet down from the road. There is also some scaffolding on the house to the right that could be an aggravation?

The router worked pretty well Sunday night when I was up late and it was still working Sunday morning. Since then it has been shutting down soon as you turn it on. It has always been left charging so four green bars, fact it won't work if switched off at the wall. So I sat by it just now watching what it does and the four lights turn to one red flashing light and it shuts down, like it is out of power except I don't see how.

Sounds like it may be faulty - take it back.

Will do (for a fourth time). The phone however worked smoothly and fast this morning inside transport and so while it's fine to vent when something doesn't work, if I have learned anything posting in this thread it's that however good a network signal might be, there are many factors that can stop it reaching some places. The phone is locked to EE so I will stick with it, the router issue is something the store will have to look into before I top it up with another 10GB.

Got a firmware update on my S7 Edge... was this finally VoLTE?

Nope. Sigh.

Thanks for the heads up! My 10GB SIM Only contract has just come up for an upgrade, so I've gone with the £20 deal. It's amazing value.

Looks like in stores you can get the same 16GB deal for £16.49pm

You can apparently get it from 150 as well, I rang to enquire about the 16GB plan for £16.49 and was told I could have it but I would require a new sim to which they would transfer my existing number to. They confirmed I wouldn't pay for 2 lines at any time but that it had to be done that way

I'll update when the new sim arrives if it's all as promised.
