Looks like in stores you can get the same 16GB deal for £16.49pm
For new customers, upgrades or a 2nd sim?

I've already got the 16GB SIM (for £20 per month, from the first time EE did this promo) and it's absolutely great! A very large amount of data and 4G capabilities. Totally worth it.

After my 12 months has ended, it'll go up to full price, so I'm hoping that EE will have another deal that I can go onto when that happens (as I don't want to pay £35 per month).

You sure it goes up? Pretty sure mine isn't a 12 month special offer.

The more recent Vodafone deal was 12 months only, while the deal I got was ongoing.

Well this is interesting, as of yesterday my local mast has gone to 4G+ with 1800Mhz & 800Mhz live but now ALL calls drop down to 2G aswell? is this normal as before when my mast was 4G@1800 it would drop down to 3G/H?

I was advised by EE sales and online chat that the special offer Sims revert to the higher price on month 13.

Got this deal in store. Sales man wasn't sure if it would go up to £34.99 after 12 months.

I rang EE this morning as a new number was showing in MyEE, turns out the agent had made a c*ck up yesterday and added the £16.49 offer as a new line to my account.

Today's adviser seemed to have a much better grip on things, I now have the 16GB offer for £19.99 with no expiry to the discount. (I confirmed twice that it was an ongoing discount with no expiry).

My local mast is 2G/3G/4G but since yesterday calls drop down to 2G, manually selecting 3G gives me H+ weird

3G is dying muhahaha.

On a serious note - makes sense, if your phone drops to 3G for a call, and then starts requesting data, it can sit on 3G for ages until idle again. If it drops to 2G, it can hand back off to 4G immediately, because 2G was a better standard...

Damn, I upgraded my sim only plan to the 8GB a month offer three weeks. I wish I had waited now. I did call up EE last night to see if I could still make the switch to it, but no luck.

I know that when I got my SIM, it said it would go up to £35 after 12 months, but not sure about any others...

Maybe they have changed the CSFB to 2G?

I'm guessing that CSFB to 2G would make sense if they plan on increasing the 800/1800 power... Otherwise CSFB to 3G would have been OK?

The UK networks need to do what the networks in the USA do and split out the airtime and the mobile phone portions, so you pay the phone in installments for several months and your airtime just rolls over forever.

O2 Refresh is kind of similar but you're still paying far more than the device's value whereas in the USA you just pay the contract-free price but in installments.

Mjdj1689- I think you will find that EE will have some new good and unique offers on the new IPhones and other handsets. This will include 12month plans with new contract types with some lease type deals.

Some sites CSFB to 2G; permits better 4G coverage and VoLTE devices will carry the calls on 4G.

Map updated again (some zoom levels broken). More 4G in my area around Oundle, Kings Cliffe and Uppingham.

Some 2G only ex orange sites in Norfolk have 4G now so good to see progress on these being made.

So just a few days ago then i was getting HD voice calls when my phone dropped down to H from 4G, with the CSFB now always falling back to 2G I'm guessing I wont get HD Voice calls anymore?

Correct. However EE's 2G voice is probably the best for quality in the UK although you won't get the rather excellent background noise cancellation.

On EE you need to make sure that if your phone isn't going to get VoLTE via an upgrade in software, when you upgrade you get an EE VoLTE device.

Your problem should then go away mostly once we have the 800 launched and completely once the 4G1800 is cranked up.

Main advantage of having a VoLTE device is not the VoLTE itself but the access to 4G800.
