I predict that the guy who says he's good at public speaking (already forgotten his name) will be tongue-tied before the show is very old.

Had a good laugh off of that one woman who's claim to fame is being a wife of a Scunthorpe football player; could immediately see that fact alone making Lord Sugar's shitlist.

I think the array of candidates looks good; lots of very entrepreneurial people who actually have businesses already. It seems as well that the average age is about 30 which isn't that common for the apprentice - youngest woman is 24 and youngest man is 27. I thought videos were alright as well, obviously a lot of blunder but it's always been the same and they ask them very weird questions to get these responses.

Also is it just me or does Jessica look like Elle's (from last year) long lost sister?

Agree it has to be a female winner this year, only 1 female has won out of 5 winners since the prize changed to the business partnership. Especially with Karren and her enthusiasm for the females to succeed in business. Grainne is my pick too, she comes across as sensible and competent in her audition video.
Also is it just me or does Jessica look like Elle's (from last year) long lost sister? ![]() Will try to give my opinion on the candidates once I've seen their vids again (mind you, like most years, that opinion will probably go to the bin once the first episode has aired). |

And we're back! Hello all. Time for another round of preening primadonnas that addict us for three months straight.
This lot look particularly arrogant. |

Experienced: tick Used to working in a team: hmm. That's the part that worries me: almost all the candidates seem to be bosses or one-man bands, and an awful lot of Apprentice tasks have been lost over the years because everyone wants to run the show. For this reason alone, my tip to win is Trishna, who "used to play football semi-professionally" and works in a large company. Ah, but then Trishna falls down on entrepreneurialism. If she wants to start a business, why hasn't she? So on reflection, I've no idea. |

You can't deduce anything from the audition tapes.
They clearly know they have to talk outrageous bullsh*t to get past the audition. You can't tell who will get on with everyone, or who will be the next Katie Hopkins/Selina Waterman-Smith. I will reserve judgement till after episode 2 at least. |

Ultimately LS is looking for something different from what he's got, so no chance for medical/gas fitting/nail files/recruitment or anyone near that sort of field where they could waste money advertising in the same area...if the cat woman is good enough in those languages to provide proper translation services then theres an area LS might be interested in.

Just watched the "Meet the candidates" clip with the woeful Matt Edmonson.
Question: Why, year-on-year, do the interviews/auditions get more and more C5 Big Brother/Love Island? Why are they making an exhibition of themselveS? Going on about how "mental" they are and how they can't shut up, and trying to stick their tongue out as far as they can? WHAT'S THAT GOT TO DO WITH BUSINESS?!?!? I'd much rather have a bunch of backstabbing cut throat professionals than a bunch of Come Dine With Me rejects. WTF?! I swear it gets worse every year, which makes the cringe factor work when Sugar bleats on about how "I'm not 'ere to find the next reali'y TV star, alwight?" (Yes, yes you are) "Vis is abowt bizniz. I wanna find the next bizniz opportuni'y vat's gonna make me milions" (Good luck with that..) What I'm saying is I enjoy TA even if it's the same format and challenges every year. But I wish they'd be more picky with the contestants...and throw in a few wildcards here and there in terms of professionalism or education - i.e. Not an ex-pole dancer. 80% of this lot genuinely seem to be reality TV wannabes with agents. |

I find Matt Edmondson funny, he unerringly zeroes in on pretentiousness and being quirky in order to stand out,

So looking forward to this coming back, it feels like we've been waiting forever for the new series!
p.s can the thread title be changed to 'The Apprentice 2016' please seeing as it's a name and therefore should be capitalised, sorry for being petty

Unappreciating the fact that I will miss the first episode this Thursday. Only advantage of recording will be that I can watch the preview bits on a (repeat) loop.

I'll probably tune in as usual, but tend to skip a few as it used to be an essential watch many years ago, but I can no longer get excited about it.
Just another semi-reality show that's polluted by TV wannabees. And I expect the usual performance from suralan, damaging his credibility every season, because of the usual stunt of keeping fools in way past their sell by date because they make for entertaining television. I don't believe he's his own man at all, he's doing what the producers tell him to. Every candidate from the show who goes on to a media career (e.g. Katie Hopkins and Saira Loose Women whatsherface to name but two) or appear in CBB months later (James Hill) just proves that we can't believe a word that comes out of their mouths when they are telling the camera what serious business people they are. Maybe some are, but many also come across as being fame hungry attention seekers. Those types really degrade the show IMHO. |

I find it stupid having so many candidates, as too many get lost in the edit as you said, and we're left with a Final Five who we feel we don't really know, which is very underwhelming.
This show is actually beginning to annoy me along the same lines that BB does, I'm sorry to see. It's just too gimmicky and the candidates are portrayed as idiots which I hate. |
