If your tablet will not get an Android update then you are stuffed unless you can persuade the place you got it from that it is unreasonable to sell a tablet now with such an old version of Android installed and get a refund.
I have been considering getting a Nexus 7 instead which can be upgraded to Android 5 (but no further if the latest news is correct). But it needs to be a second generation (2013) Nexus 7.”
You’d probaly not get a refund from where you bought your tablet just because you can’t watch BT Sport any longer just because your tablet is incompatible with the updated BT Sport app, as they never sold it with watching BT Sport the selling point.
The best hope is a trade in of your tablet somewhere when buying a replacement tablet with a much newer version of android, or sell it before buying a new tablet.
What are BT doing to remedy the situation where a lot of tablets or smartphones are now suddenly incompatible for the new updated app? Maybe BT should either reduce people’s bills for a short period to account for peoples inconvenience up to 150 quid in total (the price of buying a new tablet with a much newer version of android), or make an older version of the BT Sport app on Google Play store to be compatible with smartphones and tablets with android versions less than 4.3.
