Has Madonna completely lost the plot?
I've been a big fan of Madonna for many years so this isn't a bashing post, but reading about her Tears of a Clown show in Australia and watching her handle her custody dispute with Guy Ritiche in probably the worst way possible I fear she could be having some sort of breakdown?
At the Tears of a Clown show she was four hours late. The show didn't start until it was pushing 1:00am or so and then it was a bizarre mix of performance art, stand up, and her lesser known musical hits. She came on stage riding a pink tricycle and dressed as a clown and people who were there think she was absolutely wasted on booze. If she'd been drinking it would certainly explain the late start, which her team claim was for more rehearsal only for Madonna, once on stage, to tell people to not expected the show to be polished? It all sounds very strange. I gather this Tears of a Clown thing was a special private gig for free for members of her fan club and her way of rewarding her Aussie fans for having to wait so long for her to come over again but it seems like the whole thing was a complete farce and so far removed from how professional Madonna usually is (except from her shows starting late...although never as much as four hours late) I can only wonder if she's in a bit of a state due to what's going on in her private life. From what I can see Madonna desperately needs to stop referencing her son in her shows and on social media as it's causing obvious embarrassment to him, and possibly take a rest from working for a while once her tour has finished. I find is sad and strange she hadn't taken time out to sort the custody stuff out because even if delaying some shows would upset the fans it would be understandable for her to do so. Anyway, what do you think? |

I don't see how it shows she has lost the plot because she chooses to do something different that is more in the vein of performance art with rare acoustic songs that she has never done before.
I actually thought it was refreshing from her usual very staged shows. It wouldn't be much of a present for her fan club members to give the same exact show she has given on the regular part of the tour, would it? There's a long history of avant garde performance art with people like Lauri Anderson. I think it was in that vein. It doesn't mean she has lost the plot. I think it's brave she tried something different. Just because she's a pop star, doesn't mean she can't do something experimental and avant garde from time to time. I don't see why she should stop referencing her son in her work? To me the most fascinating music is when it is personal from the artist. I don't see why she should deal with what is going on in her life at the moment in her music, rather than singing about dancing and going to clubs. This tour was planned long in advance of her current custody situation. It would be a very unprofessional move on her part to cancel the tour when she hasn't been to Australia since the 1990's. |

Did the OP even attend the show? You seem to have just regurgitated what the UK press reported.
I WAS THERE and can confirm that: 1. she was not drunk. 2. she was emotional yes - but the show was once in a lifetime intimate affair for her die-hard fans to see the raw and more personal side of M. 3. she was portraying a character of a clown on stage - it is quasi-theatre, not a normal concert. |

I do think she should drop referencing Rocco though - he clearly hates it and won't do any favours with repairing her relationship with him! |

I like the fact she is using her music as a way to deal with her personal problems. All artists do it. It's not like she is selling stories and doing interviews about her custody issue. She is showing her pain through music with her fans.
I hope this set was recorded. I would of love to have seen it. She did an intimate one in Paris in her last tour and it was stunning. |

She's 60 years old, she's dressed like an idiot & riding around the stage on a child's pink tricycle...wibble.

She isn't 60 years old at all. She's 57. I do wish people would get their facts right.

In your case you have a point, but Madonna is a pop star so her stage persona/antics can be easily excused.

her apparent insanity can be excused because she is a pop star and she is getting paid. but anyone else would be sectioned.

As for the other post about her being 'sectioned' You do actually realise the Clown show was just that? a production.... not real. If Madonna was shaving her head and running around with golf clubs threatening to hit reporters like Britney was, yeah maybe you would have a point but this was a theater production.... That fact seems to have passed you by.. the show itself was praised by everyone who attended despite the late start,,, another fact not mentioned in this topic. If Madonna is having a breakdown it will be the first one she has ever had after a career 99% of other celebs could never have coped with the pressures of. If and its a big IF Madonna is suffering mentally its probably down to the ignorant ageism having an effect on her. What Madonna does, dresses like, whom she sleeps with or what she does on stage shouldn't warrant the level of ageism and disgust shown in this thread and it says more about the people making those remarks than it does Madonna herself. Having that sort of shit thrown at you each day is obviously going to effect ones mental health so if Madonna is suffering its down to the culture we live in. Nothing to do with her, all she is doing is enjoying her life. Its the people who cannot stand to see a 57 year old woman having fun that have the problem. |

From what I've read from fans that actually attended they were all praising her performance. The show was never going to contain any elements of the Rebel Heart Tour as the people attending would be seeing that show on the actual Tour. From the announcement it was always going to be a mixture of music, comedy art etc.
Having a few alcoholic drinks while on stage for a special one off event hardy confirms she was drunk another media bashing with no fact to it. As for all the Rocco mentioning. She has made several comments throughout an 80 odd date tour. The media and gutter trash papers have filled column pages for months with assumptions and so called close sources none of which have any real fact. The fact is neither Guy, Madonna or Rocco have made any official statements everything apart from the fact we know their has been a dispute between them and it was being heard in a private court. Everything to do with the case is hearsay. Can any parent truly say they have parented 4 children and never had bad patch or fall out. I'm sure she is under immense pressure and as a parent devastated about the current situation but I hardly think it's anything to do with her online presence or him being embarrassed by her. |

![]() Yes! I'll say! She's fifty-seven and acting like a stroppy teenager. No wonder her son doesn't want to know, he finds her an increasing embarrassment. What about she tying his hair in bunches, then photographing him and posting it on social media? No wonder he had it all cut off. Quote:

We've had divas bringing on to the stage babes in arms, but he's not. Try and think of her as a parent. This is what the problem is all about, not what her avid fans think of her. That's the problem. Its not Madonna that Rocco cannot cope with, its the ageism and sexism that his mother is receiving that he ran away from. Who are any of you to judge her... Rocco loves his mum and Madonna loves her son. |

I would actually say the nasty comments like the ones you have made about Madonna in this topic would upset and have a much greater effect on Rocco far more than anything his own mother has said on stage about him.

Rocco loves his mum and Madonna loves her son. She needs to act like a responsible parent, which in Rocco's case, she isn't. You're just making excuses for her and I'm not buying it, neither I guess would Rocco. |

^ So once again - two more people to add to the long line of others who think they know what's best for Rocco and what goes on in his mind. Where's your evidence to suggest it has nothing to do with sexism and ageism?

The only "evidence," is that he wants to live with his father in a stable environment. That's all the "evidence," he needs and so should it you. |
