Humax 4000 series link recording repeats?
Just setting up my Humax 4000
Created a series link for 24 hours in AE But it says it will record a repeat shown at 3am? It also says it will record the new episode at 9 but The title says 3am and its making me nervous I have cancel and reset the series link a dozen times but it still wants to record the repeat from last week Ditto GPs behind closed doors link |

How are you checking which instancies of a particular programme are going to record?

On your original post you did not state exactly which instant of 24 hours you selected and there is not a broadcast of 24 hours at 3am in my EPG.
If you can give very specific details about which instant of the programme you select to record a series from and which are the extra recordings you are seeing in the list then there are a few of us who can look up the broadcaster's control data for future recordings. It may be a broadcaster error. |

I've checked and 24 hours seems to be ok now but on same night
I set "GPs behind closed doors" 20.00-21.00 series But it also recording the repeat episode at 3.10 am Do you think it's just an epg error? |

Once you start recording a series the 4000T should remember which episodes you have recorded and avoid recording the same episode twice for the 'series'. The 3:10 episode is one that you have not recorded yet as it is a repeat of last week's episode before you set the recording request. It will therefore record it. It is not really a broadcast epg error but just a different way of doing things. Some may like this behaviour. |

It it's duplicating the same episode then yes it's an EPG fault with the broadcaster not setting it as a repeat properly.
If it is a different episode then this is actually working correctly. Your series link will record all available episodes of that series, not just "new" ones and not just ones in the timeslot you trigger the link from. |

Are you not aware of this or are you saying that the D-book has changed in this respect? I'm not sure what my latest Vestel does but what Vestels use to do was check if the programme to be recorded was already on the HDD as part of the same series (as defined by the series CRID). What all Youview recorders do is to keep a list of programme CRIDs that have been recorded so that even if the programme has been deleted from the HDD the Youview recorder will not record the same programme as part of the same series, with an exception of where the user has also specifically selected a duplicate specific broadcast of a duplicate programme to be recorded. |

Unfortunately the latest copy of the D-book I have seen is D-book 7 version 1 from 2011. That version does allow a series as defined by the series CRID to contain duplicates of the same programme as indicated by their programme CRID. Section 8.11.1.1 states that this then allows checking for duplicates to avoid such duplicates being recorded.

I am just commenting based on my experience of using the thing. I don't know what a Dbook is, is that the manual?

There are a few standard in there that have never been used so far but that they either haven't been used so far does not mean that if they are used then the broadcaster is in error! Manufacturers should take account of all the D-book in case the variations are used. To have a model use the freeview logos it has to undergo independent testing against a series of non-published tests. Unfortunately those test can't test for absolutely everything under every circumstance and so freeview labeled models do go on sale which can not always cope with the freeview standard. |

Yeah, I haven't looked into that level of detail.
