Is there a waxwork of him in Madame Toussauds? There should be because it would be incredibly lifelike since his face essentially looks like it is made of wax anyway.
I say that affectionately towards old Putty Face, as we knew him in our household

Pretty sure the channel called 'dave' is the one that used to be UK gold 2.
Shame really. Used to get episodes of Neighbours and EastEnders from the 1990s repeated on there. Not nowadays!

Yes, 'Dave' used to be known as UK Gold 2, then UKTV G2, before changing to 'Dave' in 2007.

Whoever comissions that channel is just plain stupid. They had a advert on tv a few weeks ago said if you miss eastenders on BBC1 you can catch it at 10pm I think the next day. Whats the point?
You want people to watch something on a pay channel they can watch for bloody free on BBC Iplayer? Anyway, as has been reported recently, the iPlayer loophole is to be ended soon. Sometime in the next four, five months, it's been reported. More details here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35708623 |

Not everyone has the Internet in their homes. Some people have to go to either their local Library or a Cyber Café, to use the Internet. And, not every Library and Cyber Café allows you to watch TV programmes online, as you only have a certain amount of time per day, that you can go online.

More details here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-35708623 It would have been better if they had a deal to show classic episodes rather than current stuff. |

Most homes have iplayer even tvs are built in with it.
It would have been better if they had a deal to show classic episodes rather than current stuff. "31% of GB adults claim to have used it [iPlayer] within the past year" (page 53) Source 31% is certainly a large percentage, but there's still a fair way to go before you get beyond 50% and can start to say "most". |

That is not true. Much as I enjoy using iPlayer and other catchup services myself, only about a third of adults said they'd used iPlayer last year according to Ofcom.

Short of monitoring everyone's viewing habits 24/7 and 365 days a year, how would you measure it? There must be some sort of logical process behind collecting those numbers which, while not perfect, has to be better than someone's guess or opinion. Granted that saying you've used something is not the same as actually having used it, nor does having used it mean the same as having it available in the house - I'm sure there are those who have catch up services and don't know they have it and so never use it. My 92 year old mother-in-law is one such.
For the purposes of the question, it doesn't matter whether people do use iPlayer, or even if that they can't - what matters is that a lot of people don't use it, therefore there is still a reasonable market for scheduling it on a conventional channel. |

I doubt that it's something people would be vastly mistaken about.

Of course TV still needs conventional linear broadcasts as the primary delivery method. The writing is on the wall though, due to the growth of the different ways we now have available to consume content. As time goes on, linear broadcasting will gradually become less important. I see it in much the same way as the decline in printed newspapers. They are having to rethink their business models and figure out how to make money on line. The same transition has already happened in the music industry. It's all downloads and streaming now, but CDs are still with us for the time being. It will take decades for TV broadcasting disappear. BBC 3 going "online only" is part of this change. They'll not switch off BBC1 or ITV anytime soon.
