Hope Capaldi does show up, maybe in the finale...

Fairly standard TV trick - they've got some experience under their belt and they're old enough to work full schedules, unlike kids who have restrictions on their time.

Jenna Coleman played a school girl in Waterloo Road when she was 22/23 as well!

Assuming that the characters on screen are between 14/15 and 18, I can understand the convenience of not using anyone under 18, but 25 seems a bit high

When I was growing up, about 14 or 15, I often wondered why schoolkids who were supposed to be close to my age in TV shows and films rarely looked anything like me or my schoolmates. Especially US TV shows and films.

Well the article does list having to do A Levels as one of the problems the character has to face so more likely it's a pupil rather than a teacher.

I suppose KK could be an alien (from another race) placed as a guardian for the Pupil by the Doctor.

It really could be very BuffyLike thinking about it.

Katherine Kelly in the Giles role of Watcher/Guardian
Alien Pupil in the Buffy role.
Other Three Pupils in the Xander/Willow/Cordelia roles of humans that get drawn into the Slayer/aliens world.

"Class is a YA series set in contemporary London"

So it's hardly token casting

Apparently Nigel Betts, who was the headmaster in Series 8 will be back, which is good

Didn't you get the memo, anything with a Black person in it is clear tokenism... so shake your fist at the BBC damn it...

Does this mean they won't be making any more torchwood if they're concentrating their efforts on this now.

I don't think they would be making anymore Torchwood even if they won't concentrating their efforts on this...

Yeah, it is. Just like it was in 'Vera' that was set in rural Northumberland with a cast straight out of south London.

I prefer TV Shows and films that use actual actors that are the characters age. I was so dissapointed when Percy Jackson came out and the cast were WAY different than portrayed in the books. I prefer when the actors are teenagers or kids when they're characters are supposed to be, because it gives that sense of adolescense and innocence.

I still dislike the name, it's not really very striking or distinguishable and I'm not sure what thought process went behind it.

"We need something simple and catchy... something to do with schools..."
"Class"
"That's it, you bleedin' genius!"

I'm almost expecting an announcement for it's brand new sister show, Pencil.

I wasn't meaning any offence with my post I was just pointing out the fact they seem to have all the boxes ticked with that small cast of 5. I don't have a racist bone in my body.

Ah that's good. He plays the bumbling authority figure quite well!

Except that this *IS* set in London, so what's your point, other than being angry about a different show?!

It really is going to have to be phenomenally good to get past it's own premise.
Grange Hill in the Dr who universe... that really has already been done.

Mr Bronson turned out to be a Dalek agent, I believe. Memory is getting fuzzy these days...

Do you have a friend who is black

Anyway!

I'm going to give the show a chance and watch the first couple of episodes but if it doesn't appeal to me I'll leave it there... I haven't seen any of the cast or writers work before, and the concept of the show doesn't really get me excited, but because it has that DW connection I will check it out... I just hope its a meaningful addition to the Who-verse...

Also the school is the site of a thin wall between space and time. A border between worlds.

Hellmouth, anyone?

Haha yer, Ness was probably going for some Buffy similarities.

But I'd be shocked if it is even 1/10th as good though.
