I also love Anita's style (expect the rare occasions when she dresses a bit too young.) I think Janette and Aljaz both have great dress sense, as does Len. Georgia hasn't impressed me (either boring basics or unflattering to her figure), Bruno and Craig both looked like mutton dressed as lamb in the tour candids, and enough has been said Kevin and Karen's unique style.”

Yes, definitely. Helen has found her own sense of style and what suits her. She is confident enough in herself to not mindlessly follow fashion.

I hope one day that bit of over enthusiastic flim flam becomes true

She unfortunately does mindlessly wear clothes which are in fashion - badly.
She has no idea how to put an outfit together.
In fact it could well be said she is a fashion victim.

(Rather like the Cliftons.)

Like her Musical Theatre career her fashion sense is being mercilessly overhyped here.
You may want to consider how it is that a girl who trained for Musical Theatre never appeared in one Musical - I am sure she auditioned so why I wonder was she never cast in one ?
If the Les Mis performance is anything to go by I can see why

I already answered that a few posts back, Helen was cast in The Woman In White soon after graduation. Apparently she also played Sharpay in a touring production of High School Musical, my girls would've loved that As Aggs posted she's performed as a backing singer for Elton John and at the Royal Albert Hall and she's returning to the stage this year in After Miss Julie. In recent years however she's clearly been concentrating on her TV career and is brilliant as Trixie in CTM. Perhaps she will look to do more theatre again in the future.

Do you see her as competition to Georgia for roles? I would've thought they'd be going for different things and following quite separate career paths.

I'm not sure what your point is?
Helen has sung backing vocals for Elton John and performed at the Royal Albert Hall and for the last 4 years has been pretty much tied up with Call the Midwife - and the last year taken up with Strictly and The Tour as well.

I would wager than any actress starting out - be it in muscial theatre or straight acting - would look at her CV and would give their eye teeth to have similar.

I didn't realise the extent of her work and talent. Thank you.

to be honest can understand why Helen has not done much stagework as she has got a leading role in a successful series, to be brutally honest many actors/singers revert to stage tours and west end when they can't get tv / film work / recording contracts - you only have to look who are in shows etc at the moment to see that.

I have to say, though, if Kerry Ellis can be strong armed into Strictly I will be fangirling like billy-oh

Yes - she auditioned for some strange reason for the first series. I guess it was done more for a bit of bi-publicity than any desire to have the chairs turn Her and Jessica Ennis Hill and I would be a very happy little fangirl

She was under contract with Universal at the time, and, gosh, who were providing the record contract for The Voice prize? Universal. I think it was pretty obvious they nudged her into doing it, probably on the proviso of telling her that it'd be good publicity for her and she might do well, and then she was rejected by the show because at the time it was all about proving they were better than musical theatre stars and famewhore people who'd been on X Factor. And now their biggest (/only real) success story is in musical theatre and they're scrabbling around for Popstars rejects who they're hyping up as the greatest voices in the history of the recording industry. The irony's pretty funny.

She seemed pretty pissed off at the time, as did the Strictly singer who got a very similar sort of treatment, and with good reason. But then that's the music/tv business I guess...

Pixie does have some prior stage experience. She attended Italia Conti and performed in a West End production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium in her earlier teens. Obviously her main career success has been as a singer, although the same age as Georgia they have very different career backgrounds going in to the Holly Golightly role.

I've just been reading this interview with Pixie where she discusses her role in BAT.

http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/what-...htly-1-7829817

Interesting to hear how she's approaching the role. It sounds like she's sticking with music but looking to do some acting on the side and widen her CV and skills. She's a fabulous all round performer and beautiful dancer, I loved her and Trent's partnership on Strictly.

Thanks for the link to that article, as I'm planning to see Pixie in this when it comes to my part of the country at the end of June.

If I remember, I will come back and post my thoughts about it.

Along with their 'Be Our Guest' Quickstep I posted earlier in the thread these are another two of my favourite dances of Pixie and Trent's.

Their Foxtrot, love the style of this.

And their Samba, the quirky character Pixie creates is brilliant so entertaining

Don't know if you've read this interview with Helen but I've only just found it, was done just after the Strictly tour finished.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/c...eveals-7530365

She did it to promote a skincare product but she covers a range of topics and there's some lovely little nuggets of information with typical Helen humour. "I'm not one of those girls who can go make-up free . . . I look like a mouse if I don't use anything". A little sad she says she may not continue with ballroom dancing although she describes her time on Strictly as "joyous" and "I might do the splits after a few glasses of wine, but that used to happen before, to be honest . . . ".

She discusses Call The Midwife, how it started out as a job that meant she didn't have to waitress that summer and it went on from there. How the cast get on so well it feels like a rep company now and they all socialise and she sounds so down to earth when discussing what makes her happy in life

Nice article - and good for her promoting products.

I thought what fun it must be on that tour bus - the Strictly Tour must be very hard work especially for the non dancers who are not used to that level of frequent exercise but I should think they all had a very good time.

Lovely interview.

Shame Helen left the competition when she did (although, of course, I was bloody glad she did - being a Georgia fan.) My ideal final would have been Helen v Jay v Georgia.

To be fair, Kerry's audition wasn't good - mainly because she chose a song which didn't show what she could do. I was expecting her to be brilliant and she wasn't. Therefore, I had no problem with her getting no turns. If anything, it would have been odd if she had, based on that performance.
