That is strange. I would have expected him to be aware of her songs, even if he didn't play them on his BBC Radio 2 show. She has a new album coming out this year, so it will be very interesting to see how well it does.
I would love to see that particular episode, but no one has put it up on YouTube. Yes, I did. I looked at the dates on the tour and noticed they were no Scottish dates. (What I didn't understand was that there dates for Dublin in Ireland, but not Scotland )The nearest place for me was going to be Salford and it is not very practicable or easy for me to get there when it is over in North West England and I live in the East Coast of Scotland, especially a place and theatre I've never been to before. I also thought that since the London West End residency was taking place across the summer, it would be far easier to go down there by train from Edinburgh Waverley and spend two days down there at least. Now I do remember Trent was involved in last year's tour as a backing dancer, before deciding not to renew his contract. All the dancers on the show sign yearly contracts to commit them to one full series. Depending on how well they come across and how far they go in their debut series do help a lot in this. Lucky you Hubby and I spent a couple of nights in Nairn a few years ago, it was gorgeous and we were lucky enough to see some dolphins when we visited the Firth of Forth. (Sorry, nothing to do with Strictly I know).

Drives me nuts!!!! I'm all for quotes which actually mean something but the "Share if you have an aunt who means the world to you" ones are up there with the "I'm just posting this to show everyone that I just don't care anymore" ... errr, so why are you sharing it with us then?!

As I said earlier in the thread I was a fan of his innovative choreography and thought he was a good teacher, dancer and all round lovely bloke. Quote:

I've just ordered 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' by Truman Capote, that's going to be next week's reading, looking forward to it

I saw that! (I miss James
) I heard it for the first time on the Graham Norton show though and he said (in a surprised tone) "what a lovely voice Pixie has, I had no idea" which was a bit odd as I assumed he had heard her previous songs being a DJ and all! Still nice though.

I suppose there is a difference between playing someone's record that has been through all manner of ... tinkering ... and hearing them actually sing live? He probably wasn't aware that the sound was actually produced by her and not the studio

I see Helen George has finally made the Daily Fail Side Bar of Shame - as some of you like to call it.
A nice happy story for once although why they need use false names to register in hotels is a bit beyond me as surely few people in South Africa would know who they were - except I guess people might assume the relationship started somewhat before the end of her marriage as one of those nasty comments below the story pointed out - but that is no ones business but hers and I hope she is very happy.. Who on earth can these people who comment on stories in the Fail be ? Some of them are just really vile - and vicious and it is rather sad that someone sits at home spewing out bile all day. |

Ah, I've been to Nairn but it was a number of years ago with my dad and my younger brothers.
I live within about 25 mins of the Firth of Forth and the two (soon to be three) bridges. Such a beautiful part of the country. In an effort to bring things back on topic, I love Scotland's loyalty to anyone Scottish partaking in Strictly

The weekend Helen tabloid articles are a CTM interest story. Helen and Jack played a screen couple on CTM and there's media interest in the whole cast and crew being out in South Africa filming for the new series. At the beginning of the last series of Strictly Helen's spokesman confirmed she had separated from her ex husband some time before that. There's no tabloid scandal, if it's true Helen and Jack are a couple the papers will look to run that alongside news of the new CTM series. Personally I think it's lovely if they're together.
Lou did you see the photo Helen's posted on her Instagram of the cast and crew's day at sea? Looks like they're having a ball out in SA

I feel pretty confident that any media attention will not be driven by Helen - I suspect she is someone who likes to keep her private life to herself. I wouldn't call her shy but I think she keeps a little back which is possibly why not everyone warmed to her as we did. |

Completely agree, her slight reserve is one of the many qualities I like and respect in Helen. If it's true they're together I hope they manage to maintain their privacy as a couple.
![]() ... oh and the Daily Mirror and some other tabloids. Lovely to see a young couple enjoying life together - being on location in South Africa must make it a very special time for them. |

I would say Alesha Dixon. When she joined the show she wasn't in a great place personally and she was professionally known as an ex pop singer. I think the show allowed her true personality to be shown to the public and she was loved for her bubbly and fun nature as well as her talent as a dancer.
Anyone else? |

I wouldn't say that, the story such as it was was word of mouth, no accompanying photos and certainly no intimate selfies publically posted by Helen. Considering how high profile both Strictly and CTM are Helen did a good job of shutting down any speculation about her private life at the beginning of her Strictly run and showed it is possible to maintain that privacy if a celeb so wishes. Sure Helen and Jack can continue that and the photos she is posting of the scenery, animals and the whole cast are interesting and yes show she's having a great time whilst also working
![]() Quite! And in my humble opinion, the more genuine the relationship, the less likely a couple is to try and sell it to the media. Quote:
I agree with you about Alesha. Lovely girl and it's really good to see her doing so well. She was a magical dancer on SCD too.

Interesting article on Anita here
http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-ra...ly-semi-finals "I’m annoyed for her, as I think she deserved a place in the final, possibly ahead of Katie Derham or Kellie Bright. But it’s rare to see someone lose so gracefully, and she handled her hugely unfair exit beautifully, possibly realising that however hard you work and however well you do, ultimately it’s all a bit arbitrary. I did wonder if she and Savchenko had seen the writing on the wall, as their last outing was much more like a show dance than anything else. So it’s almost as if she has danced at the final anyway. Anita Rani has been the underdog of the competition and an audience favourite, as she is one of the few celebrities with no previous experience. (Kudos, admittedly, to Derham, who is now the only finalist who hasn’t had dance training at stage school as a child.) Rani has been a delight to watch and embodied the true spirit of Strictly: do your best, get on with it and never complain even if they make you wear five-foot Maleficent goat horns." |

Anita definitely deserved a place in the final ahead of Katie but the Anton storyline got Katie there. What I would give to see what Gleb would have choreographed for their showdance! Of the pros who choreographed showdances for the final I thought it was Kevin who understood and pitched it right, putting on a show for the audience rather than getting wrapped up in their own world and being self indulgent with the choreography.
I completely agree that Anita embodies the spirit of Strictly. Hard working, was up for anything that Gleb threw at her, gave each performance all she could and is a wonderfully warm, natural, confident and talented lady who is a fantastic ambassador for the show. I'd see her as a positive role model for my girls. |
