Helen socialised with different people so therefore she shouldn't have been on stage? Bizarre, how could one photograph sum up everyone's experience of an awards show.

Everyone has their own story on Strictly too.

How does what looks to be a photo montage of some people at the BAFTA's sum up the whole show for everyone who was there?

Please keep bothering! We've had lots of interesting discussions on this thread, I hope it keeps going until September

Yes, I think Helen presenting a Bafta got up the noses of some. Not sure why. I suppose if anyone has a right to be annoyed it's the Jay fans but they seem a fairly chilled out group so I guess they put it all into perspective and therefore they don't attack Helen.

Thanks Lou

I am a Jay fan and would have liked to have seen him at the Baftas and as the winner he had more right than anybody to be included in the Strictly group.

I wasn't that surprised he wasn't there and was glad to see the others involved.

OT, but as this thread is currently talking BAFTAs, the only thing I remember about the event is Peter Kosminsky's spirited defence of the BBC during his acceptance speech for Wolf Hall, and the audience reaction to it.

So I suppose this would be my own personal summing up of the show.

BIB Me too Lou

Yes absolutely, as the winner Jay would be first pick. I think because Katie and Georgia were there on the night and were finalists the argument would be they should have been up there.

I knew Helen had presented an award last year and CTM has won Bafta TV Craft Awards but I didn't actually realise she was going to be there this year until the night...I presumed it was her role on CTM more than Strictly (or combination of both as she presented with Craig) that meant she'd been invited to appear.

She seemed to enjoy the red carpet, presented well and was clearly moved by Peter Kosminsky's speech as mentioned by StrictlyRed, tweeting a link to it. Like I said earlier, my liking of her aside, she seems a positive representative of Strictly to me and did a good job.

Although I thought it was right that Tess, Claudia and the production team took most of the Strictly limelight on the night.

She certainly looks gorgeous - I suppose it could be said that Abbey's profile was broadened by being on Strictly before that I had never heard of her - but I don't follow football news so her being a WAG was lost on me.

May I just point out Ladies that if you wish for no discussion and total agreement on your views then posting on the main Strictly Forum is perhaps unwise.

If you wish to over compliment and over enthuse about certain Strictly contestants that is where the 'Appreciation Threads' come in.
If you post here then you must expect people who disagree with you will say so.
You will obviously be far happier in threads where people share your opinions.

In the meantime I offered you a photograph of the BAFTAs which featured two Strictly celebs befitting the supposed discussion subject of this thread and because your celeb crush doesn't appear you cannot understand why it here !

I thought it was very interesting that Heat had picked out the movers and shakers of the night and had included two Strictly celebs who obviously have benefitted career wise as Strictly has certainly raised their public profile.
Kara has become a star and one hopes the very much younger Georgia May Foote will be equally successful and follow in her footsteps.

Absolutely. They are the ones who make the show as they are the backbone - the celebrities and pros can come and go but they are the ones who give the consistency. Zoe wasn't there was she? I was fully prepared, being the open minded person that I am, to really not like Zoe on ITT because I am a massive fan of Claudia's but, hats off to her, the girl done good Still wish they would do a special ITT after the final though

We regularly very congenially disagree with eachother and don't take personal offence at views differing from our own

Fun chat with Tess, Claudia and Craig after Strictly's Bafta win.

This VT is an interview with Helen at last years Bafta Craft Awards and I think she makes a good point about these type of events being a chance for the whole team to be recognised, not just individual stars of the show.

One photo could never 'neatly sum up' an event where the talent of so many, both in front of and behind the camera is recognised. I had hoped that Kara would win with 'The Sound of Music Live', it has become an absolute favourite since it was recommended to me earlier in the this thread and she is incredible as Maria. However I was pleased they won at the Bafta Craft Awards earlier in the year. An amazing production.

So pleased Zoe's back this year, still on my 'ITT at teatime' countdown to September

Exactly! I find it a bit confusing that a thread which doesn't contain much negativity (apart from a common theme) is being criticised. Odd!

I love it! Zoe does very well to hold a fast paced live programme together - she must live on adrenaline! She is excellent at putting everyone at ease and I especially enjoyed the Friday night one hour show with members of the public there (something I thought I wouldn't like .... how much of a pessimist do I sound??)

I love Zoe and would like her to replace Claudia in the live shows. For some reason,
I can never connect with Claudia,

Oh no - I love Claudia !

She is presenting the "Sewing Bee' that started again on the BBC last night - I love her on that too.

I still think it is brilliant that these three women present one of the BBC's top entertainment shows.

I thought exactly the same but actually the atmosphere was brilliant and there were some really funny moments with the audience.

Zoe did a good job standing in for Claudia the awful time Claudia's daughter had had an accident, she worked well with Tess and is so vastly experienced with live presenting could stand in for Tess as well, Zoe can play it straighter whereas Claudia is always quirky I like Zoe on ITT though, she builds such a good rapport with the celebs and pros and Tess and Claudia have a great chemistry on the main show.
