Their online campaign sounds like a really good idea.

Awwww, that's just lovely. My hubby had never had a dog before he met me (no sniggering at the back) but the marriage clause included rescuing a dog. We love our boy to the moon and back - he'd had a rotten start in life but now he's full of life, love and happiness.

Your dog sounds lovely, what a great story Lou Me and Mr Ochre are both dog lovers, the dogs we had when children were our best friends. It's not practical for us to get another just now and I only would when we can make the commitment but when the children are older we'd love to give a rescue dog a home. In the meantime we adore my parents West Highland Terrier who came from a rescue centre as a pup. He wasn't mistreated though, the previous owners couldn't keep him for family reasons.

Aww Westies are real characters aren't they Ochre? We had dogs when we were growing up and always had them from puppies but I was determined to rescue. It's not for the faint hearted, We had a lot of behavioural issues with the boy and saw a dog behaviourist for a couple of years. As they always correctly say, it's not the dogs it's the owners and we had to adjust a lot of our behaviour in order to help him be the happy and calm dog he is today.

Sorry, I am really off topic!!! So good on Helen anyway!

I have always had rescue dogs - they have usually been OK after they have settled down.
One JRT from Battersea was very naughty - fine with humans but an absolute nightmare with other dogs and that never changed - and she lived until she was 19.
I guess Helen's Charlie who found her as a puppy doesn't have too many problems.

We now have a rescued Bedlington who is the sweetest dog ever - considering she was found with bad injuries tied up on a Motorway that is somewhat of a miracle.

Awful story about your Bedlington (I am just going to google them as I have not heard of them) so glad she has found a lovely home.

Their Westie is a real character, I had a Cairn Terrier as a child who was too, I loved him to bits he was a very independent soul

It sounds like you and your husband have done an amazing job helping your boy.

Ha ha yes off topic again Helen's tour with After Miss Julie begins next week, hope it goes well for her.

And this is probably O/T really but I was looking at Anita's Instagram page and she's been posting beautiful photos from Scotland including this one. What a wonderful job she has on Countryfile.

I realized that it takes a while for upcoming projects to come to fruition but I'm really surprised that Jay doesn't have more on his plate especially as a winner Is it his agent 's fault or what ?

He has a show confirmed for a few months ( can't remember the name ) and 3 dates with Robin's tour. I honestly expected more.

Jay is playing the main role in Big the Musical later in the year, first on tour and then hopefully on to a West End run. Jay fans will be able to answer in more detail as to what else he's working on but I think since the end of Strictly he's benefitted from not seeking constant personal publicity and instead waiting to announce work projects.

We've been discussing contestants from last series in this thread but really for those not already in a full time job with clear direction beforehand it's too early to tell how beneficial their Strictly run will be to their career. I have a feeling Jay could be one of the winners to benefit most directly from Strictly in the long term

Absolutely Ochre. Jay had no need to jump on the Strictly band wagon and milk it for all it was worth, his genuine talent shone through and that speaks for itself.

A new interview with Helen in the local news prior to 'After Miss Julie' opening at Theatre Royal Bath on 24th May.

Helen discusses her character in detail and the challenges she presents to her as an actress.

When asked what is the one thing she couldn't be without on tour she answers 'I'm touring with my dog Charlie so if I lose him I'll be scuppered.'

Post show ritual . . . she always has a drink in the pub

Although she hasn't kept up the dancing since Strictly she's doing a little dance section in this play.

You've put it better than me Lou I do think Strictly helped him break out of the 'Boyband stereotype' although I know he had a lot of success with The Wanted. He'll now have a lot of fans of all different ages wanting to see him in Big.

As a Jay fan I am glad he hasn't went down the jumping on everything offered route, I don't think he needs to.

As far as I am aware he had quite a few offers but took his time in deciding what was right for him - playing Josh in Big is the ideal role for him.

He is involved in a music festival over the summer (can't remember which one), not sure in what capacity.

Lou, Ochre and Sarah Totally agree with what you have said about Jay.

Jay has been able to forge his own personality from being on the show in particular impressing everyone with his incredible jive both on the show and the tour. (To be honest, I can't see The Wanted getting back together. )

The fact he has gained new fans just from competing on Strictly, just reminds me of Pixie Lott. She never realised how popular Strictly was and she would have what she dubbed "little old ladies" coming up to her to say how much they enjoyed her dances.

I am going to use the J word. I think, Jay is a very deep person and life is a journey and will do things that make him happy and grow as a person.
He is a vegetarian, like me love the guy,

I just found out yesterday, that two former Strictly contestants, Daniel O'Donnell & Pixie Lott will both be appearing on The Ray O'Darcy Show tonight on RTÉ One.

Daniel will be accompanied by his wife and will his discuss his time on Strictly last year; while Pixie will discuss starring in Breakfast at Tiffany's - which comes to Dublin in mid-June. She will also perform the title song, Moon River.

http://www.rte.ie/ten/news/2016/0520...ay-darcy-show/

I would really like to see this, but since the RTÉ player is unavailable outside of the Republic of Ireland, I might have to wait until it is uploaded on YouTube.
