That is going too far, I would be freaked out by that.

Perhaps Georgia will learn some social media lessons the hard way.

Ditto, I would be scared out of my wits and wouldn't do anything to encourage them.

I saw that interview with Gleb and in addition to it being an introduction to a new Strictly pro, I also read it as an indication that he and his wife want to put the past behind them and not make public too much of their personal lives. Gleb's learned hard lessons regarding social media which is all in the past, made a good start on Strictly and as I said earlier I'd like to see both him and his wife on the next series.

Keeping the discussion to career success post Strictly, Georgia has indicated she wants to follow in Jill and Kara's footsteps and seek a career in the theatre. She has a chance with BAT to show she can make a go of that. It's too early to say, but why she continues to seek Z list celebrity when she's hoping to be taken seriously as a potential West End star I have no idea.

Their moving in together so soon was probably down to the practicalities in pursuing work opportunities wasn't it? Georgia planned to make the move to London to follow a theatre career, Giovanni needed a London base while he partners Joanne with their many professional engagements and is then hoping to be on the next Strictly.
Well appearing in Hello etc seems to have had no great effect on Tara's career - so who knows !
I daresay you are right - there is no indication that GG having moved in together are in anyway in any sort of romantic relationship at all and it probably was all an evil plan to court publicity and seek attention.

Now this morning Giovanni has wished us all a Happy Easter from the Maldives on the Facebook account he normally uses for his Italian followers including his family but has also accepted many UK friends :

Il paradiso 😇😇😇 buona pasqua a tutti 😘😘

with the English translation provided.
The Paradise 😇😇😇 happy Easter everyone 😘😘

No film crew just a little hand held phone video to show where they are staying - no shots of them in bathing costumes - no mention of the hotel's name .... in fact a complete failure to profit from what must be quite an ordeal spending a holiday together just the two of them !

I have to say it looks like a honeymoon suite - lets hope they took scrabble with them.

I can only assume that the vast majority of celebs have 2 social media accounts - one for fan/PR purposes and another private one for real life actual friends and family?

Well yes, if they have any sense. I think they should also warn their nearest and dearest to lock down their social media accounts to stop their "intense" (to put it kindly) fans trawling through them to find out every last details of their lives.

It sounds like Giovanni and his family need to get wise to that idea pretty quickly!

Absolutely right. I've said it before (boring? me?) but she is not some dewy eyed schoolgirl, she's in her mid twenties! By constantly hawking out the bedroom selfies etc she's laying herself open to the trolls who attack her via her Twitter and Instagram accounts. Not only that, it feeds the obsessives who go into mega stalk mode and start trying to find out EVERY little detail of her life via her family and friend's social media accounts.... I think I'd prefer the trolls!
Same here. Worshiping Celebrities is very disturbing.

Oh I don't think Giovanni's family would be that interested - they post every detail they can find about him on their Facebook accounts.

They are terribly proud of him and want the world to know how talented and happy he is with Georgia..
Not everyone shares your horror and disgust of social media - some people actually love it !

If I was related to a celebrity I would be very disturbed by the idea of complete strangers poking around my Facebook account trying to glean any detail they could about my relative. That's not a disgust of social media, it's a fear of bizarre stalkers who think they "know" my relative. Two quite different things.

Very fine line between Obsession and Stalking.

I agree. There is a line and I fear the obsessives don't know when they've crossed it. I have my favourites and of course I follow them on Instagram and Twitter and am always interested in what they post. But that's pretty much as far as it goes. I don't dig around trying to find information about them from other sources. That would make me feel really uncomfortable.

You would simply make your account private - simples !

Quite. Is this the fifth or the sixth thread where sensible intelligent discussions have descended into tedious G&G bashing?

Very fine line between Obsession and Stalking.

...........or alternatively G&G appreciators bashing which is totally irrelevant to this thread as well as being against the rules (to discuss things said in other threads) as I understand it.

If I was a celeb and posted certain details about my personal life on social media for fans/strangers to see that's one thing.

If said strangers started following/friending multiple members of my family looking for every detail they could find about my life that would make me very uncomfortable for my family as well as myself.

Like some others, I can't believe this is being converted into (another) thread about Georgia and Giovanni that will end up locked like others.

From last year cast, Helen, Peter, Georgia, Anita......like I said my biggest surprise is still Jay. I can't believe he still has nothing as of now lined up and he was the winner .
I asked before, what do you see him excelling at?

Well lets face it you are not a celeb - no one presumably is interested in you or your family and I presume your social media accounts are locked down so you can rest easy.
It is quite amazing how you and your couple of friends spend all your time posting the same rather tedious points over and over again - I think we have all got it now !

Well no actually. I thought this was an interesting thread and my first post was all about Jill and the post Strictly success she has achieved. It's also been great to hear about Kara's success and receive recommendations for The Sound of Music Live which I'm very much looking forward to watching!

I may criticise people's actions but I have never made personal insults to any other poster and never will. Any thrown my way will not put me off posting here or expressing my opinions. As I said earlier in the thread I'm actually interested in what Georgia does on stage, just not off it! And as far as social media and the internet goes I will teach my children to think carefully.

I may have missed it.

He's a great dancer so maybe musical theater work but one of the main disadvantages is that he is not a great actor so he needs to work on that and take acting lessons.
He seems passionate about his music but I am not really sure that he'll succeed in that arena if he decides to go solo.

I'm afraid you do and its just going around in circles, its tedious and boring. Actually when you discuss other stuff outside of Strictly relationships the discussion is interesting and its clear that your a fan who has watched for many years.

Am a Jay and Aliona dance fan, and up in the attic in the AT thread there's been talk about Jay and Aliona possibly dancing on Robin's Tour in September - it's not clear yet what is happening, but some observant people up there have seen a few Theatre adverts.

As a dance fan, I am hoping it is possible and fits in with Aliona's plans

There's also been some discussion about Jay being in the USA for the last few weeks - possibly because this song by the American group Shy Town features Jay. Apparently the video has recently been released.

ETA plus running a mile on Sport Relief last Sunday, but suppose that didn't take long

Sounds like he has been very busy and has a busy Autumn ahead of him - I am pleased for him.

Well said Ochre. There's no need for personal insults and no need for the cross threading which is beyond tedious and rule breaking (thanks for pointing that out Nina!) Why don't people just scroll on by rather than complain about others' views because they don't share them?

This has been an interesting thread (the poster who started it must be pretty awesome) and has covered some varying topics. The perils of social media usage is a valid conversation as far as I'm concerned. If it hits a raw nerve with some then, bluntly, that's their problem really.
