I can't say it's my favourite version - but I think it's one that will probably be improved by seeing it in the context of the play as a whole.

As much as I loved David Essex I really couldn't understand or see the point of 'Oh what a circus' until I saw it in its right place in the show.

Be interesting to see how the other 2 playing the role sing it - I assume they will be doing the promo stuff for the dates they are in?

I think Emily Atack's coming to the end of her run on the tour. Pixie's about to return for Dublin, Plymouth and then to London. Georgia takes over the role on the tour from September.

Have there been any reviews for Emily? Fascinating to see 3 people playing the same role in such quick succession

(I could only find stuff about her flaunting her lithe legs from guess where! )

Ha ha I think I saw that link

I can't find much. This interview suggests she approached the role differently to Pixie, looking to include something of Audrey's Holly from the film.

On singing Moon River . . . 'It's funny, literally just before you called I was just practising it in my hotel room. I love that song and it's actually quite close to my heart, it's a real family favourite. It's the song we all kind of gather round at family parties and sing around the piano and now I'm singing it on stage.'

On Holly . . . 'She's a good-time girl, she's kind of like the friend that everybody needed in school that got you into a bit of trouble. She'd definitely encourage you to have a glass of champagne at nine in the morning, she's kind of mischievous in that way. She's fun and she's caring, too.

She's got all these different attributes to her that I think so many people can relate to, they can relate to each little piece of her. She's very interesting for sure.'

I'd really like to have listened to Emily singing Moon River but can't find a recording. I read one review from Bath in the local news that said her version of the songs didn't really fit within the play but that's it.

I've seen a couple of reviews for Emily, not awful but not great

http://http://www.bathchronicle.co.uk/Review-Breakfast-Tiffany-s-Theatre-Royal-Bath/story-29289238-detail/story.html

http://http://www.scotsman.com/lifestyle/culture/theatre/theatre-review-breakfast-at-tiffany-s-king-s-theatre-edinburgh-1-4145686

It is interesting having 3 actresses sharing the role. Kara Tointon will be taking part in a gala 60th anniversary performance of My Fair Lady in a couple of weeks, sharing the role of Eliza with 5 other West End actresses in one night, so it must be the thing these days (wish I could go because it's got some great people in it )

That sounds brilliant Ellie. I was quite young when I went to see My Fair Lady, I love it. I wonder which song or songs Kara will sing? My favourite is probably 'I Could Have Danced All Night'

I've read Pixie plays her as ambitious, manipulative yet tragic which fits book Holly for me.

You've made some good points about the casting too aggs, I guess they're trying to strike a balance between doing something truer to the book and drawing on the popular appeal of the film to increase audiences. I hope people aren't disappointed, it's a captivating, gritty story and a favourite of mine”

Hi Ochre Hope the sports day went well. Any future Olympions in the family??

I have been really busy, a friend of mine is getting married in 2 weeks, this evening bridesmaid dress fitting and coming week lots to do.

BIB I haven't read the book, but I have watched the movie.
I just listened to it and sounded very somber and fitting.
I think because she kept smiling, hard to feel sad, on stage it will be fine.
I love Pixie's voice.

That's my favourite too . I saw Kara in Pygmalion and she was great with the Cockney character, so I think she would be really good doing 'Wouldn't it be loverly' as well.

Probably no Olympians but maybe a footballer and my two younger girls are enthusiastic dancers.

How nice you're a bridesmaid for your friend, hope all the preparations go well Sarah

BIB Me too, I love listening to her whatever she's singing.

Strictly beckons?! I'm glad it went well Ochre and ditto re the bridesmaid prep Sarah

I love Pixie's voice too and her cover version of Caravan Of Love pulls on my heart.

On the subject of books being made into films, I found it very hard to forgive Tim Fywell for his direction of I Capture The Castle - especially the bonkers casting of Tara Fitzgerald as Topaz Mortmain I adore that book and have read and re-read it many times and his vision was certainly not shared by me. I'm very glad that the stage version of BAT is truer to the book than the film.

Morning Lou, ha ha I'd love that if Strictly is still going in 15-20 years time Goodness knows what it would look like by then or what I'll watch for those 3 months if and when it ends
I don't know that book but I'm with you when it comes to disappointment in certain film adaptations. I always read the book first!

With BAT I'd agree with aggs that the book and the film share a title and location and the characters names but the alterations to the plot are so significant that the film really stands on its own as a separate work. The book isn't a love story and for me the book characters and plot are more complex and interesting.

Oh Ochre, do read it. It is such a wonderful book about first love and family love, especially between sisters. I think you would love it. If anyone here is a veteran of the BBC Strictly boards they might remember a lovely thread called "Strictly Books" in which anyone who loved reading shared their favourite books. All animosities were laid aside and it was a joy. I think it was closed eventually for being off topic, sigh, but it was great whilst it lasted!

I definitely will read it, thank you Lou.

Ah that sounds like a lovely thread, the sort I could spend hours on I've got a general BBC login for Strictly voting but never spent much time reading the boards, I might this series.

Aww, I love Pixie. She has an immediacy when she speaks that's infectious and it's great that she is expanding her repertoire by acting on stage etc.

Glad you both enjoyed the interview I thought she came over really well too. Pixie's great fun and BIB I know exactly what you mean Maggie.

What a lot of costume changes she has in BAT!

Returning to the points made about the judges, this newspaper article led me to the website for Darcey's new dance exercise initiative Diverse Dance Mix.

It sounds like a great idea and something for all ages. I like that she's using the fact Strictly has increased her profile with family audiences to launch a positive and accessible for all initiative like this.

Some of the dance styles involved include Charleston, Tango, Salsa, Samba, Waltz, Disco, 1980s, Irish, Bollywood . . . there are going to be online videos posted soon. When they are I might have fun trying it with my children (and Mr Ochre dragged in very reluctantly)

Hi Lou Couldn't watch the whole thing, just watched a bit. I had a feeling we were going to beat Aus, Ireland's win really surprised me. Felt sorry for Wales. Poor guys.

Wales can be happy with football and we are unhappy.
